Vintage story is soooo good you guys!

Like so so good!

It gives me that same thrill I got when I fist played Minecraft while it was in a beta!

Tomorrow I'll take some pics of my base so far and share :3

I'm playing on a public server and people there are dope

There are eldrich rust monsters around but the thing that killed me the most is my own sheep. They are still wild and they HATE MY GUTS. Like, I feed them, I keep them safe, I pet them (okay sure I kill their mothers and grandmas in front of them but, hey, fair trade) and they just thirst for my blood.

Goats on the other hand? They are good and lovely and they just flee for their lives which is MUCH PREFERABLE

I also have a farm and a little greenhouse

And a little starter house that'll become a farm house to keep all my farming supplies and a start of a new, bigger house on a hill. Gotta have more space for all the friends I'm making in the server. The winter was quite harsh so I ran a soup kitchen and fed people if they needed it. It's spring now and I can't wait for the first harvest, I'll make SO MANY CUTE CLOTHES! I'm a tailor and I am weak and bad at combat and bad at survival BUT! I'LL BE CUTE!!

Oh, and the LORE!!!

I know glimpses from item descriptions and I have one lore book and one scroll, I can't wait to find out more! But the world building is DOPE

Oh oh and the CHISELING!!! Just, being able to modify any and all blocks as you wish??? Oh you bet once I'm done with the rough buildings I'm gonna go in and put a whole bunch of paintings and patterns and mosaics on them. Just, full on making it all very busy and messy and pretty :3

Also, I find Vintage story a lot more chill and less scary than Minecraft. I can do eldrich horrors that make weird noises. I can't do zombies. Like. The difference the lack of zombies makes to my spook levels in unimaginable. Things still startle me but there is no fear UwU

Last night I have unexpectedly become a surrogate parent to this little fella

Parents are nowhere to be seen, it still doesn't know how to properly stand or fly, even though I expected it to be able to since it has pretty much all its feathers. It has a very good appetite and in this picture it is in a food coma after a meal

I expect to take care of it for a week or so before it is grown enough to go on on its own, I'll see if I can catch some caterpillars for it later today and try to get it to eat it (currently it still just opens its beak and expects food to get in)

Interaction is minimal, just to give it food and change the soiled papers under it

For any Vintage Story players out there: Shintharo12, PureWinter, and team have created a fantastic agile flying mount mod inspired by Sky Cowboys called Pegasus! They created skins based on SC pegasus coats, adopted the pilot flying position and tack, and have based their pegasi on the SC broadwings :)

They've been sharing their progress on the SC Discord for the past few months, and now it's LIVE! It looks fantastic and I'm so excited for them <3

one of the things i love the most about Vintage Story is the fact that pretty much every aspect of the gameplay experience is accounted for in the lore. players in VS are not human, they're beings called Seraphs that, while human-shaped, are much taller and have unnatural skin tones (grays, greens, blues.) so, for example...

the chat function? oh, yeah, Seraphs can communicate with each other telepathically over vast distances!

logging out of a world? yeah, Seraphs are somewhat divorced from the flow of time. they can just blip out of existence and then come back as if nothing happened.

respawning after death? well, Seraphs always come back. death is unnatural to them.

spawning in a new world for the first time? of course, it's well known that Seraphs just abruptly appear out of nowhere with no prior memories, and no one knows why. perhaps as you explore, you'll find out what happened...
