Crossover fic for Fire Country and 9-1-1.

What if Buck was actually a Leone?? Forget about the Buckleys. Instead have it that Buckley is Sharon’s maiden name and when Buck moved to LA to join the LAFD he decided to use her maiden name so nobody would think nepotism.

Have Maddie be like his cousin or something and the closest thing he had to an older sister because he is the eldest of the Leone siblings.

Maybe have it be revealed when he gets a call that Bode is back at home after having not seen him in forever.

Of course it's raining and they are right outside the station and there Bode yells something like "I don't care about taking up my father's position in the future, it's yours, it was always meant to be yours, you are the best leader, please don't leave"

And then they finally kiss in front of God, the firehouse and everyone else.

Ice watched as Mav's smile started to get rarer and rarer. How the bounce in his step was replaced by even strides. How Mav's laughs started being replaced by bone-deep sighs. How going out for drinks became a more quiet affair.

One day, Mav just rested his forehead on Ice's shoulder. Ice instinctively wrapping him up in his arms, pulling him close to his chest.

"I'm tired, Ice, I'm so tired," Mav muttered against his collarbone.

Ice didn't know what to say but hold Mav tighter.

Dear god, don't let him be like me.

When Ice said he was sorry, Mav didn't make a sound, and Ice feared he wouldn't talk still on the graduation day. But he did. He said, "Congratulations..." and Ice's heart skipped a beat.🥺🥺 And this was the happiest moment that day... Even happier than graduating itself.

But even after that, Ice couldn't find the opportunities to talk with Mav. He was silent most of the time. Because Carole had died shortly after Goose. And Ice could find Mav. Before he said, "My condolences," he was able to utter these words:

"Now the baby boy needs a parent to look after him."🥺

Mav answered in a breath: "I'll be his parent."

Ice: "But two makes it better."

Ice couldn't believe what he said instantly, but it was already too late... Mav's head slowly turned, causing an increase in Ice's heartbeats, Mav said nothing just like he hadn't spoken for a long while .....

But there were tears in his eyes and his lips were smiling.

what's so devastating is that iceman went first.

all throughout the movies, we watch maverick risk his position, his career, his life, while ice remains painstakingly focused on his goal of climbing the ranks. and he succeeds--he's top of his top gun class. he rises in the hierarchy until he outranks the people who used to give him orders, becomes an admiral, then the compacflt. but then the story twists, and mav, who performs potentially fatal stunts on the regular, has to watch his wingman be buried.

the irony is heartbreaking--for all these years, we watch maverick get scolded time and time again, warned that one day his flying will get him killed, while ice remains the model pilot, admiral, and commander, and still, he is the first to go, quietly, painfully, and much too soon.

After THE talk, Bradley shyly asks Mav to help him repair the old bag of ass, and it's going to be their dad & son project, their bonding therapy.

Then, Bradley and Ice handle the artistic customisation of the plane. It at some point evolves into a paint war in Mav's hangar.

When The Rooster is finally done, Bradley is in the pilot seat, waiting to see who's going to be his RIO/WSO. He has to plug his ears, because his dad and pop's bickering ends up being about who's going to offer the best sexual favour in exchange of being the first to fly with Bradley.

"Ugh. Why me?!" he complained fondly, bonking his head repeatedly on the window pane.

The third person privileged enough to be Bradley's backseater, is Hangman.

As a 'thank you for saving our lives, I knew I was right to make you the Spare', he was invited at the Hangar to go nerding with Mav about the P-51.

What happens is Bradley going all smoothly with -

Also Jake gets to see THE pictures on the hangar walls, including baby pictures of Bradley, and 'holy shit, is that...'

After Goose's death, Maverick tried hard to struggle with the pain he suffered, but waited to meet with Carole and; his lawsuit to be over before trying drugs. Despite Viper's insistence, he refused to fly because he knew that he could not fly while "high". He'd never tried drugs before; he did not even choose alcohol to ease his pain, and he even drank ✨icy✨ water when Charlie visited him at the bar. 🥺

But drugs were not hard to be found; and they recommended cocaine, especially if you want to kill your troubles. It was a very "expensive shit", but Maverick was rich enough; but drug dealers anyway already give away the first "shit" for free to get their new customers addicted. Maverick bought the "shit", learned a little how to use it from the dealer, and was about to go on his first "flight" in the men's restroom of one of the bars he normally wouldn't go; then Iceman, only God knew where he "fell" from, found him inside the restroom of that bar.

"Is that your way? Is that how you're going to fight your pain? What happened to the Maverick I know?" he said.

Seeing the truth in Iceman's words, Maverick poured the "shit", worth how many dollars I don't know, downwards the water closet before it was too late for everything, and he hugged Iceman in that smelly toilet… he realized through tears that what he needed was to be embraced by Iceman…

That was when Iceman and Maverick's first hug happened —Iceman saved Maverick before he fell into addiction🥺—, which is why their "You can be wingman any time" themed hug happened so easily and so softly…

Because that was their second hug.

The thing is… Bradley sees them everywhere, it makes him angry and frustrated, it’s the most painful thing about the whole situation, but he does, he thinks about them all the time

He walks down the corridor thinking they’ll be there

He goes around every corner thinking he’ll bump into them

He stares too long at every shadow thinking they’ll be there

He watches every face in every bar thinking it’ll be them

He hugs Phoenix and he thinks about the way they hugged

He falls for Jake and he thinks of how similar they are to Ice and Mav

He gets his heart broken and he thinks about what they would say to him

He looks at himself in the mirror and he thinks he’s more like Ice than he thought, huh, weird, he always thought he would grow up to be like Mav

He hears conversations and thinks he’ll hear someone say their names

He listens to everyone talk about home and he thinks about his home, about his little broken family

When he’s flying it’s impossible not to think about them

When he cries

When he laughs

When he smiles

When he screams

When he can’t sleep

When he plays piano

When he gets hurt

When he goes to the beach

When he’s sick

Everyday

He thinks of them

I feel like i've been dunking on poor Mav's height a disproportionate amount so let's all take a moment to remember that the dude is stocky af and probably surprisingly strong Likewise, I've been making Ice all suave and in control buuuuut i also very much like him like this (smitten and a bit starstruck)
