why does Chinese manhua has ‘rape as a meet-cute/backstory’ plot?????? W H Y???

do you know how many of these have the following plot: protagonist’s sister or best friend gives her date rape drug and drags her to a hotel room where presumably an old man the said sister or best friend sold the protagonist to; and then the protagonist encounters MC in the said hotel room because the villainness messed up the room number, and he doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer and presumes drugged-out-of-her-mind protagonist is a consensual partner (I’m not making a presumption about this, protagonist later always refers to the encounter as rape). queue protagonist getting pregnant with MC’s lovechild, disappearing for a few years, coming back to the city she left, meeting MC again, who is now *drum roll* her main romantic interest and whatever happened in the past between them is either romanticised or swept under the rug. this sort of scenario, even with variations, is so prevalent at this point it’s a trope and I don’t know to whom to I need to send a strongly worded letter for this to stop.

I’ve been going through so much in my personal life that has stopped me from writing and doing what I love. and today. Finally. At last. I’ve resolved that not writing or pushing my creative energies into something is only making my mental state that much worse. So from here on forward, I will be getting back into the swing of daily writing. I will be finishing my main reylo fic and working on some of my other pieces, and maybe just maybe I might bolster up the courage to work on something original again.

Don’t ever let life hinder you from doing what you love. No matter how simple or silly you may think that thing is.
