This is what's happening in the pitch-black nights of Gaza. Gaza, isolated from the world, where genocide and ethnic cleansing are taking place right now, while you scroll through your phone and browse the internet. Gaza is being exterminated. This is what the nights in Gaza are like.
Besides the relentless bombing, which hasn't stopped even though Israel said it would abide by a ceasefire and wouldn't bomb, Israel doesn't care about international law or humanity. They are besieging us, preventing us from traveling, cutting off our medicine and medical equipment. Everything that's secret in the world is happening here now.
If we survive the bombing, we won't survive death from illness, as is happening to my father now. He is battling cancer and is on the verge of collapse because of it. In addition, he has blocked arteries, which is a major crisis for him. Please help us get out of here and donate so we can survive until we can leave the hell of Gaza. Please donate now.
We have continued to struggle to survive thanks to your donations and support. Please don't stop helping and donating. Every little you give makes a big difference in buying medicine and food. Please donate now.
Please help Nader and his family. Donate to help them survive the horrors of the genocide happening in Gaza right now. Donate; every donation makes a difference. Nader's campaign has been verified by Gazavetters and is number 4 on their list. If everyone who shares this post donates $10, it will be a huge help to Nader's family. Please donate.
Every little helps, even $10 makes a big difference. Please donate; we need €2300 to reach our goal. Please be our support and donate now; you are our last hope.
Nearly 100 people have shared this post and not a single person has donated. Please donate, everyone.
Homo/transphobes hate ALL OF US. People who are against the queer community are against the WHOLE community, not just bits and pieces of it.
They hate a gay binary trans man who uses only he/him just as much as they hate a lesbian oriented aroace person who uses xenogenders and they/bug/pup/its pronouns.
They hate *ALL OF US*. You are not "one of the good ones," stop pandering to bigots to try and sacrifice your own community to save your face. We are all the same to them, they'll take your rights, silence you, beat you, rape you, and kill you too. Hate crimes DO discriminate, and they discriminate against us ALL.
Taking a small art break because chronic illness goes brr
this is the funniest thing I’ve seen in any review ever
SO I'm reading witch Hat Atelier.
Spoilers for Chapter 80 onwards, more specifically spoilers for Chapter 88
Jesus christ I love humanity
Wake up, babe, new neurodivergent anthem just dropped?!?!
How the fuck do I get this as an audio file, I desperately need to have it on heavy rotation for the rest of my goddamn life
I love seeing these collaborative song trains. joining in to make something better is peak human behavior
Nottinghamshire tree, one of Europe’s oldest and largest, fails to produce leaves after being stressed by series of hot, dry summers
Well-intentioned historical interventions have not helped its longevity. In 1904, props and metal chains were installed to support its branches. In the 1960s, hollow parts of the tree were filled with concrete to support it, while limbs were clad with lead, then fibre-glass and even treated with fire-retardant paint.
well that'll do it
"But won't children be confused by all the LGBT-"
Yesterday I saw a mother with a baby carriage, being followed by a girl of about 4-6 years old on a bicycle. The kid started ringing her bike bell like RING RING RING RING RING RING RING, and the mother turned to look behind them to see whether they were being followed by a cyclist who desperately needs to pass them for the sake of everyone's safety.
And the little girl - who just rang the goddamn bell herself 5 seconds ago - also turned to look.
Kids are confused by everything at all times. They don't know jack shit. About anything.
i remember being like 8 or 9 and being told that my dad’s ex-wife was no longer diane and we were to address her as daniel now. my reaction: “ok.”
me and my brother later had a small discussion about whether that could happen randomly (conclusion: no, he probably had to file papers or something) and whether daniel should now be referred to as dad’s ex-husband (conclusion: yes but only to see the face he’ll make) but at no point did we find it like... alarming? the world is big and weird. we were used to it.
finding out a sorta-relative could just change genders off camera, as it were, was a whole lot less head-splodey than finding out there were no squirrels in australia!
There’s no what
"Won't they be confused by all the--" So what if they are? Life is often confusing. That's part of how we learn. Part of the job of an adult is to help confused kids learn and understand things. There's no obligation to protect the kids from the confusing things. Quite the reverse.
In my experience anyone using this BS excuse isn't worried about a child's potential confusion, but their own, which they don't want to admit to having.
theres no squirrels in australia???
Aussie here, I DIDN'T KNOW SQUIRRELS WERE ACTUALLY REAL FOR THE FIRST EIGHT YEARS OF MY LIFE NO JOKE I THOUGHT THEY WERE A MYTHICAL ANIMAL LIKE UNICORNS
WHAT??
Also kids are far less likely to be confused by something the younger they learn about it. Kiddo had queer people in his life and casual references to queerness before he could even talk. It was never confusing for him. It was normal.
Squirrels were an invasive species to Australia but they never managed to gain a foothold and were eradicated within a few years of their arrival.
I remember the Palm Squirrels in Perth... But I think they've been eradicated too.
Also my older sister thought Narwhals were mythical for an embarrassingly long time.
man if you're disabled you've GOT to find some way to make your fuckass body a source of pleasure whenever you can. jacking off. eating good food. wearing soft clothes. kissing an animal on the head. whatever you can do
Every year Dracula daily revamps interest in the novel and every year I have to be reminded of the utter buffoonery and misogyny that pervades every modern adaptation that romanticizes Dracula and his predation of women in the name of being “subversive” while completely cutting out or sidelining his predation of men (namely Jonathan) because all of a sudden when he’s assaulting and robbing men of their agency it’s not sexy or sympathetic anymore and we can’t include Jonathan (one of the most interesting and unique and ACTUALLY subversive male characters in gothic literature) because he’s not “manly” enough
And let’s go into this further. Because what also pisses me off is people do this and defend it by claiming it gives the female characters (chiefly Mina) empowerment and agency where they didn’t before. But they DID! That’s the whole thing!!!! They had an astounding degree of agency and respect and happiness BEFORE Dracula came into their lives and robbed them of it.
Lucy lived happily with her loving mother, had her pick of three lovely suitors, was given full freedom to choose whom she would spend her life with and has that decision respected by all the men involved, who all admire and care for her so much that they remain devoted friends to her (and I mean REALLY genuine friends) up to and past the point of her death where they risk their lives to avenge her and put her soul to rest.
Mina is in an unusually healthy, loving, devoted marriage to a man she completely adores, again with a bright future ahead of them both. Jonathan constantly thinks of Mina, compares almost all women against her, and is absolutely utterly in love with her. Mina and Jonathan regularly subvert Victorian expectations of a married couple in that they deeply love and respect one another to the point of flouting “proper” Victorian customs by being affectionate out in public. In fact, the one time Jonathan decides to play the traditional man and ignores Mina’s wishes to leave her at home while he goes hunting vampires w the other men, he is IMMEDIATELY punished by the narrative! Draculas predation of Mina starts that night because she was left behind, and in response Jonathan affirms and reaffirms his total devotion to Mina above the other men for the rest of the story. In the third act of the novel while the team is trying to stop Mina’s slow turn to vampirism, Jonathan not only explicitly tells us the reader through his private journal entires that he will LITERALLY go against god if Mina is turned and damn himself to be by her side in hell rather than kill her if she becomes a vampire, he is unsubtle enough about it that the other men genuinely worry about where Jonathan’s loyalties will lie if they fail in killing Dracula and saving Mina.
So when adaptations pose that either of these women were just your typical trapped, bored, sexually frustrated poor Victorian traditional ladies looking for an out until bad boy Dracula comes to sexually liberate them…. Motherfucker they were ALREADY about as liberated as female characters written by a man in the 1800s could get. Lucy is introduced to us as a young woman flush with bright and happy futures and her pick of the litter for the life she wants to lead until Dracula kills her and takes that from her. Mina marries her childhood sweetheart who literally prioritizes her over God and is building a business with him before Dracula nearly ruins her life permanently.
Not only is claiming that dracula is an agent of the female characters agency just completely antithetical to his role in the original narrative as a blatant serial THEIF of women’s freedom, from the brides to the peasant mother to Lucy to Mina, it’s literally less subversive than the fucking source material
i love this guy
this is what happens when they cut "When Love is Gone" from the Muppet Christmas Carol smh
When we saw this pop up at SDCC this weekend, my friend kept turning to everyone around us going: "Did you ask for this? I know I didn't ask for this..." and it was cracking me up.
As someone who specifically studied Dickens in college, no, I didn't ask for this and did not want it. LOL.
