finished it all!!! amazing, amazing manga.

the ending was a little abrupt for my taste but im so glad for the direction they took with how they depicted the nordic settlers and american natives dynamic. i liked how it was clearly not a onesided sort of framing where "oh this side is evil for thinking like this" and how in preservation of our homes and our lives, it leads to wars despite everything thorfinn had promised. it goes to show just how easy it is to go down into that path and how difficult the fight for ideal peace and community thorfinn dreams for.

very excited for s3 in the anime if they're ever picking up vinland saga again (hopefully)!! i would LOVE to see hild in action. i think hild and thorfinns parallels with thorfinn and askeladd is brilliant and beautifully done. they have written regret, atonement, and most importantly, forgiveness in such a gut wrenching way.

i love the contrasting paths canute and thorfinn took to their initial characterization.

it really frames medieval fiction in a grounded way, with how the expectations of what a king is and what a warrior should be.

fully believe quifrey and olly had a serious dating situation at least once (because hiding a secret from your lover is a sure way to be stressed out enough and.. why not?) but when they finally shared a bed, cuddling into each other's arms, quifrey immediately knew this was all very wrong when it felt so right.

quifrey would always remember how warm he was, enough to haunt him. he would remember enough for the both of them.
