My special interests include T//he A//rcana, T//ES, D//eltarune, Tarot, voiceacting, weirdfur/postfur designs, and bugs of all kinds (used to be afraid of them, then pavloved myself into liking them out of spite/because I was exhausted by that fear)
I also sometimes post omorashi o//o
Iām planning on maybe doing an introduction/brief yap session while inducing; weāll see if I have the nerve to try :]

Magic spells that make people sneeze are genuinely the best debuff spells. Hereās five reasons why:
Itās mana-efficient. It requires so much more energy to silence, restrain, or incapacitate another person, and the same can be achieved by just making their nose itch like crazy.
Itās effective on pretty much anyone. Have you ever tried to swing a sword mid-sneeze?? It canāt be easy, at least, not in an effective manner. For spellcasters, verbal incantations go out the window of course, but somatic/gestural incantations are also jeopardized.
Any sort of chase/pursuit becomes trivial. Itās hard to keep up when running and sneezing at the same time, especially through an environment that requires a lot of dexterity and precision.
Stealth is a complete bust. If you happen to be the one in pursuit of someone, sending out an area of affect sneezing spell can identify a target in seconds.
Itās (mostly) harmless!! If you are trying to get yourself out of an encounter without causing long term damage, itās the best go-to. Especially good in friendly spars, or in training for magical battles.
Ngl Iāve been going through the ringer these past two days (conflict between friends), & wound up making This as a way to self-sootheā it may not be snz, but maybe some of you will still resonate with it,,?
Full/uncropped version beneath the cut,,
I wish cutting hurtful people out of my life didnāt result in. Multiple of the friends who know them trying to coax me into walking straight back into a hurtful relationship again. I wish my choice could just be respected or understood & that be it. No drama or conflict. No boundary-trampling and guilt-tripping. Hell on earth,,
At least my partners have been gentle/encouraging & have my back,, I only wish I could give them my full focus right now instead of being this stressed and pre-occupied,,
Anyways aughh I just needed to ventā I know this all will pass with time, it just sucks real bad in the meantime. Thereās no easy solution except to be patient,,
I wasnāt anticipating this post to be reblogged to a sfw/vanilla account, but itās specifically an Olm appreciation account and I couldnāt be more delighted by this fact š Got me smiling soso wide,, I like when my silly little drawings can be enjoyed both in and out of kink contexts !!! Sometimes I just like drawing for the sake of drawing!
š - What illness symptom/torture tactic/snz trigger do you have the most fun portraying or reading?
Oooh, thatās easyā it may sound silly, but anything that involves some form of breath-play, or an audible indication of a characterās loss of control! In fewer words: hitching, gasping, sighing, etc! If it interrupts their speech, steals away their focus, or gives away their need/desperation/etc., then it gets an A+ in my book!
Other than that, in a general whump sense, I love describing & writing headaches of all sorts. There are so many sensory details that can play into it, all of which vary from person to person/character to character! Plus, thereās lots of room for creative and unique comparisons/simile!
š¤ - Describe your current favorite character (including OCs)
Yāall already know Iām down bad for J//ulian D//evorakā thatās nothing new. He makes me ILL I love him smā whenever I read most scenarios here on snzblr, heās the character I daydream about in nearly every single one of them š Heās so impossibly indulgent, I can hardly help myself,,
But! If I had to pick somebody else! For fandom characters, Iād pick T//enna just by virtue of being The most pathetic little meow-meow AND ALSO the biggest goofball/tease you can possibly fathomā itās like he was built for this kink, I swear šš
And for OCs, Iād pick my boy Giovanni! Iāve been wanting to draw & write more of him lately, and even give some insight into the DND campaign he was originally created for,, Not to mention! Without spoiling any of the details, Quo and I are slowly but surely chipping away at a fic between him and their little guy, Kilo! So yāall have that to look forward to, one of these days :]ā¬
š” - Giving your character a fever: yay or nay
Yay, 100%! Iām giving all of my guys fevers one way or another šš Just, yknow, balanced out with some tender care when applicable (because I canāt help myself, the comfort is a big part of the appeal to me)!
š - What would you like to do with your blorbo's nose? (Break it? Tickle it with a feather? Wipe it with tissues? The possibilities are endless!)
All of the above!!! Itās hard to pick, and depends on the character!
Esme? Give that slimegirl a feather, and watch her drench any and every surface sheās facing in an instant! (Or even just tickle her in general; no reason her nose has to hoard all of the positive attentionā¦!)
Giovanniās nose is already technically broken, so heād probably prefer you just wipe his nose for him & fuss over him! But he certainly wouldnāt be opposed to a bit of light teasing! Heās a bit of a freak, himself, just in a mellow stoner sort of wayā¦!
Simon? That little bastard is the living definition of a whumpee AND masochist; you could break that poor freakās nose over and over, and heād probably beg you to keep going, so long as it meant youād still be touching him somehowā
And J//ulian? Oh my god, all of the above. All of the above, several times a day. He fits into each and every one of those scenarios like a wine-and-dine pairingā and his weird healing ability acts as a reset-to-zero once the first round is over, so you can just go at it again and again until youāre both satisfiedā! And he gets your full attention the entire time? Itās a win-win!
ā¦Hwoo boy ok maybe that one got away from me a little bit. My point is! Why does it have to just be one? ;]ā¬
𤧠- Do you prefer stoic characters or characters who complain?
Oooh, thatās a tricky question. It really depends on the application for me! I like there to be a little bit of a balanceā itās part of why I like J//ulian so much, as heās able to play into both character tropes at once!
Heās canonically the type to play up minor ailments and illnesses for the attention, and complain dramatically (albeit playfully/in the hopes of being either teased or fussed over for it), And Also the type to try and power through more severe ailments & illnesses, putting up a stoic front in order to avoid worrying anybodyā
I think thatās really what does it for me; if theyāre a stoic character, I like their motivations for it to be selfless, to the point that itās sort of self-destructiveā and when they complain, I like it to be playful and goading, with the intent of making somebody smile, or laugh, or even just roll their eyesā!
Thanks again for all the prompts, angelā I really do appreciate it š„¹š„¹
WELL!! Honestly thatās a tough question! Yāall know Iām a sucker for fantasy-centric snz prompts all across the board, even if I donāt write them very oftenā but if I had to pick something specificā¦
Ah, I think Iāve got itā! I love the idea of a character whose sneezes are destructive in some way, being gently guided by another character to someplace safe enough for them to let looseā!! Iāve been reminded of the trope thanks to @uhhmmm ās Water From a Stone series! It makes me FERAL, the trope has always been so near and dear to me in any media Iāve seen it inā and I know itās a favorite among parts of this community, too! But Iāve never tried drawing or writing it myself! I suppose thatās mostly because I donāt have any characters (yet) that have destructive enough sneezesā but I could certainly change that, eheheheā¦
The only OC of mine that might fit the trope so far is Thorax; heās a blue Dragonborn sorcerer, with Copper draconic ancestryā so he sneezes acid and, when his mana/magic is especially high, lightning! Other than that, though, the only āthreatā any of my OCs pose when sneezing is causing a bit of a mess (or toppling over smaller characters)!
Maybe I should find a character to pair with Thorax & finally write this promptā¦? That, or maybe I should make something new? Heaven knows I canāt stop making new OCs every chance I getā¦!
ā¦Now that I think about it, there is a dragon/wind spirit character Iāve been thinking of making, whose abilities lie in wind-manipulation; I could make their sneezes more destructive as a result, and maybe put them into a reader-insert fic somedayā¦? Weāll see!
finally finally it's time to share the third and final part! i'll also be posting the fic in its entirety for archival purposes and for those of you who prefer to read all at once. this may be the final chapter but never fret! im not done with my dear library monsters... ā”

completed work
When Ateya showed up the next evening, she didn't come empty handed, but instead came toting a recycling bin that was as large as she was and looked to weigh at least two hundred pounds. She had to walk backwards just to move it, taking frequent breaks to catch her breath and rally her strength.Ā
This might not have been her brightest idea, but never let it be said she didn't commit to something once starting it.Ā
If lugging the bin to the library had been hard, getting it up the stone steps out front was a trial. She cursed and struggled and begged as she wrestled it up each one.Ā
Ateya was shaking, sweating, and panting by the time she managed to haul it up onto the landing, and she collapsed weakly over its lid to catch her breath as soon as it was done. She hadn't even knocked yet when Leonidas came to the door.Ā
āWhat the devil is this?ā he asked in lieu of a greeting.
āIt's rice,ā Ateya managed to huff between labored breaths.
āRice?ā Leo repeated, sounding personally offended. āRice? Why would you bring rice to a library? Absolutely not! There is no food permitted on the premises. Why would you ever thinkāā
āIt's for Ava,ā Ateya interjected.Ā
Leonidas pulled a face simultaneously so confused and so outraged it looked as if he might combust.
āBwhh- What? For Ava?ā he stammered. āAva doesn'tā Why would you bringāā
Ateya laughed. She couldn't help herself, she'd spent all her energy dragging this here through the city and had none left to spend on self restraint.Ā
āWhat. are you. laughing. at?ā he snarled.Ā
Ateya let herself stop giggling, to spare the man's feelings.Ā
āSorry. -ahem- Yes, the rice is for Ava,ā she repeated, composing herself. āThey said the damp was a problem for them, so, I thought this could help.āĀ
Leo's temper faded into something altogether softer and more bewildered.
āWhat? How on earth is that supposed to help? Avaā Gargoyles in general, they don't eat the same things the rest of us do,ā he said. āLichen mostly, but nothing like... Stars above, how many pounds of rice is that?ā
Ateya shook her head, shoved herself up from the lid of the recycling bin, and threw it open. Dry, uncooked rice filled the thing near to the brim. A few grains skittered over the side and scattered over the library steps as she plunged her arm in to demonstrate.
Leonidas stepped back to avoid any hitting his shoes.
āAs a dessicant?ā he wondered aloud.
āI figured it might help,ā she said, puffing a sweaty lock of hair from her face. āIt couldn't hurt to try.āĀ
Leo stared at the bin open-mouthed and dumbstruck, shaking his head in bewilderment.Ā
āI... I suppose it...ā he stammered.Ā
āCan I come inside?ā Ateya asked, still panting and red in the face.
Leo blinked, still utterly flummoxed.
āYes, please come in... I... This is quite generous of you,ā he said.Ā
Ateya lifted her arm from the bin and tried her best to get all of the rice that had clung to her sweat to shake off outside, while Leonidas closed the lid and rolled the bin into the lobby near effortlessly.Ā
āNow this is not to leave the entryway for any reason,ā he said. āI'll not be having stray grains of rice tracking throughout my beloved library.ā
He continued laying down parameters as he rolled the bin roughly to the center of the floor and opened it back up.
āFurthermore neither of you are to leave the entrance hall until you're absolutely. certain. thereās no rice left clinging to you, for the same reason,ā he said, brushing his hands off and looking at the rice itself disdainfully. āGrain brings pests, and mold, and it simply will not do, and at the evening's end I fully expect you'll have both expunged every last grain of rice from the lobby itself as well.ā
Ateya nodded, shut the door behind herself, and sagged down to the nice, cool marble floor to sit for a spell, just as Ava was gliding down into the room from somewhere else in the building.Ā
āGot it. Keep the library squeaky clean,ā she said, giving Leonidas a rough thumbs up.Ā
āSee that you do,ā he said, squinting at her warily before retreating into the back hallway and leaving Ateya alone with Ava in the lobby.Ā
āGot you something,ā Ateya said, gesturing weakly to the bin of rice now sitting open at the center of the floor.Ā
Unlike the other times she had seen him, Ava had yet to touch the floor. Instead, they remained hovering about three feet in the air, looking at the rice with some measure of disbelief.Ā
āI heard...ā they said. They shook their head. āThis is extremely kind.ā
Ava cleared their throat and snorted, then finally touching down and turning their attention to Ateya, herself.Ā
āThank you,ā they said.Ā
āYou got it, chief,ā Ateya responded, still catching her breath. āGo ahead, get in. Let me know if it feels like it's helping at all. I'm going to need a few minutes before I'll be ready to help with reshelving any books today anyway.āĀ
Ava circled the bin for a moment before seemingly deciding the best way to get themself into it would be from the air. Flapping their wings slowly they gently rose up above the bin and carefully entered it, hoofs first.Ā
As they lowered themself down further into the rice, carefully poking their tail in and shifting their weight to sink in past their hips, they let out a sigh.
āFeel better?ā Ateya asked.Ā
Ava nodded.Ā
āIt does,ā they admitted.Ā
Carefully they shifted and contorted themself to get more of their torso below the surface, spreading their wings for balance when the whole bin wobbled and threatened to tip with the motion. Stray grains of rice skittered every which way over the entryway floor. It was fine, it wasn't like that couldn't be swept up later.Ā
By the time Ateya had caught her breath and the redness had faded from her face, Ava had managed to cram as much of themself into the bin of rice she'd provided as possible, sinking themself in past the shoulders and up to their jaw, their head tilted back to allow them to bury as much of themself as they could. Their wings stuck straight up behind them out of the bin at an angle that could not have been comfortable, but the look of relief on their face indicated this was an acceptable trade-off.
Now that she felt a bit less like her heart was going to explode from exertion, Ateya got to her feet and came over to chat, Ava peeking an eye open at her as she approached and then closing it again in relaxation.Ā
āYou have pretty good hearing, don't you?ā Ateya asked, leaning against the side of the bin itself.Ā
Her legs and arms felt a little rubbery and would doubtless be sore the next day, but the quiet sense of triumph and accomplishment she felt at seeing her idea pay off was worth the muscle fatigue.
Ava's brow rose in agreement, and they gave a slight nod, rice shifting about their face as they did.
āI do,ā they said, a quietly proud smirk playing over their features. āI hear everything that goes on in the building, and on some parts of the grounds. Why?āĀ
They opened their eyes to face her, then, at least as well as they could still being buried up to the neck.
āIt explains how you were able to hear about this,ā she said, tapping on the side of the recycling-bin-turned-rice-bath. She tilted her head thoughtfully.Ā
āIs that how you found me sneaking in?ā she asked.
āIt is,ā Ava said, closing their eyes again contentedly, grinning now, and giving a quiet snort.Ā
Ateya gasped as a realization struck her.
āYou heard the story I told Leonidas!ā she accused. Ava's grin took on a mischievous quality as he peeked one eye open at her again briefly.Ā
āI did,ā they said. āI hear everyone's stories, and their conversations. It makes my job as sentinel more enjoyable.āĀ
āOh, you sneak!ā Ateya accused. Ava gave a small, snorting laugh.
āYou would know,ā they said.
āYeah, yeah, fine. Whatever,ā she conceded. āWhat's the weirdest thing you've ever overheard?ā
Ava snorted again before responding.Ā
āI couldn't say,ā they said. āIt wouldn't feel right to divulge othersā secrets.ā
They snorted again, a little longer this time, their snout wrinkling up on one side with the breath.Ā
āBut you do know,ā Ateya said. āLike you know what the weirdest thing would be.ā
āIt would be difficult to choose,ā they said, now wiggling their nose up and down spiritedly.Ā
They gave another snort.Ā
āThere is a problem with this arrangement. -sngkrffh!-ā they said. āI -sngkffh!- I can't reach my nose. -sngrrhkf!-ā
āI could scratch it for you,ā Ateya teased, giving a playful scritch at the space between Ava's nostrils. Their nostrils quivered and flared immediately in response, Ava drawing in a big gasp as water rushed to fill their snout.Ā
It was one thing to hear the oncoming torrent from nearby and another entirely to watch it flood in and stare you down like a water canon primed to blow. In a panic and with just as little forethought, Ateya clapped both of her hands over Ava's nose.
āSorry! Geez, this thing really is sensitive isn't it!?ā she exclaimed.Ā
Unable to do much else to help themself, Ava snuffled and nuzzled up into Ateya's hands, bucking their rough snout against her palms needily.
āOkay, alright, I'm helping, I'm helping,ā Ateya said, responding in concert to Ava's nuzzles while she tried to figure out what the best way to massage at their snout would be.Ā
The heel of her hand wasn't doing enough, if Ava's frantic snorting and shaky breaths indicated anything. It didn't seem to be hitting the right spot, their pushing up into her constantly trying and failing to get at the slight crease that ran up and down between their nostrils.
Switching to her fingertips, Ateya was more dextrous, but she couldn't apply enough pressure to match what their nuzzling was asking for, and the time spent switching between methods didn't help. Ava snorted and gasped, fighting it hard, but Ateya could see them coming undone.
āSorrysorrysorry!ā Ateya rambled, all the while frantically trying anything to get them to stop. She dug her thumbs into the space between their nostrils and rubbed hard.
They took a deep snort and continued battling their sneeze, but it seemed like maybe it was helping. Their snuffling slowed down, their breaths still stuttering ticklishly but now seemingly less frantic.
āLike this? This is good?ā Ateya asked, continuing her efforts. Ava nodded, unable to speak, shuddering and snorting sneezily when that interrupted the help they were receiving.Ā
āOkay! Okay, I'll keep it up,ā she reassured them. They snorted in response.
Ava's nose was surprisingly animated and flexible. Rubbing at the space between their nostrils as she was, Ateya could feel every twitch and tremble it gave beneath her thumbs as she worked to massage away the tickles that seemed to plague the ailing gargoyle's snout.Ā
āsngrfhk! h-huhhā snffgh! hahh.... snfhk!ā
She took to focusing her efforts on anything that felt twitchy or irritated, and it seemed to help, Ava's snout calming down bit by bit. The only problem was that she didn't have a ton of leverage, and the muscles in her hands were threatening to cramp.Ā
āI'm going to try something, let me know if it's alright,ā she said, then bracing her hands on either side of their snout as she continued to work at the center of their nose with her thumbs. Ava shuddered, then gave a shaky, stuttering sigh.
āBehhāhh-! Bh...etter... snfghhk!ā they managed.Ā
āIt's better? This is better?ā Ateya asked. Ava gave the littlest nod they could, and Ateya breathed a big sigh of relief.Ā
āWhew. Okay. I thought you were definitely going to sneeze,ā she said. Their nose continued giving demanding twitches so she kept rubbing at it for them, the ache in her palms receding to a gentle burn now with proper support.Ā
āI... sngkt!snkrt!huhh... snrkht! Iā hhuhā! hahh...āĀ they tried, unable to get more than a word out before their unruly snout bothering them took their speech.
āShhhh, it's okay. I understand,ā Ateya said, keeping at her efforts, smoothing away every erratic tic and twitch and shudder she felt beneath her hands.
Ava continued to give little snorts and snuffles as Ateya worked, damp bursts of air fluttering against and pulling at her palms as she ran her thumbs firmly along the sides of the slight crease that marked the center of their nose.Ā
Gradually, their distress seemed to ease. Their snout twitched less violently and less often. Their snorting started to wane and grow less fitful. The insistent rush of water to the back of their snout seemed to ebb and turn to a trickle. They were breathing a little more slowly and rhythmically.
āAre you feeling better?ā Ateya asked.Ā
āIt's helping...ā Ava said. āI still feel like Iā hh! uhh... snfrkh! oh... snfk! like I h-have to -snkht!- huhh... s-sneeze...ā
She kept up the massage, pressing in where their snout trembled and protested until it calmed once more. It seemed the slow, even breaths Ava was taking were very careful and intentional, and it probably wasn't the most helpful thing to ask them to talk through it. She kept up her attentions even as the quiet trickling sound of water went silent and Ava spoke again, this time of their own accord.
āThank you,ā they said, giving a soft snort. āI apologize, this isn't very dignified.ā
It was Ateya's turn to snort then, not from irritation but from amusement.Ā
āIt's a lot more dignified than it would have been to get showered,ā she said, still working at their nose.Ā
Ava gave a quietly grunting snort, and the somewhat scrunched expression that Ateya had come to recognize as embarrassment crossed their features.Ā
āI'm sorry. My snout is, in fact, very sensitive. Especially when I have a cold,ā they said.Ā
Ateya shook her head.
āThat's okay,ā she said, keeping her attention to their nose steady. āI don't mind helping.ā
Ava hummed out a sigh and gave a quiet smile.Ā
āThank you,ā they said. āI think I'm alright now.ā
Ateya sighed, letting up the pressure and letting her hands fall from Ava's snout, her palms sore from the effort. Ava snorted violently as her thumbs brushed their nostrils on the way down, gasping against the ticklish intrusion to their senses.
āWaitwaitā!ā Ateya pled, hastening to bring her hands to their snout again as a rush of water flooded in.Ā
It was no use. They snorted, and trembled, and their snout drew up in a snarl, revealing an array of tusks and fangs as theyā
The recycling bin burst under the strain of their movement, the sneeze wrenching from them violently. Ateya was immediately drenched in bracingly cold water. Falling from the now ruins that was once a full bin of rice, Ava caught themself on their wings and rose into a ticklish hover, their tail whipping as their breaths caught and dragged.
Sneeze after torrential sneeze ripped from them, utterly bathing the lobby in a sea of cold water and uncooked rice.
Ateya shivered, looking around at the wreckage with dread.
āAw man Leo's gonna be so mad,ā she said.Ā
Ava snorted, and snuffledā
āhUHhā! heUGHāSHhuwh!āĀ
āand another sneeze tumbled out of them, splashing down into the mess below before they were finally able to open their eyes and get their bearings.
āI am so sorry big guy, I did not mean to make you sneeze like that,ā Ateya said, utterly soaked through and standing in an inch and a half of ricewater.Ā
Ava snuffled at their wrist drippily.Ā
āIt's fine,ā they said, keeping a few feet off the ground and surveying the situation.
āI'm going to go tell the boss to stay put. We'll handle this,ā he said. āCan you get the doors open?āĀ
Ateya nodded, and sloshed over to the large wooden doors to let some of the water out while Ava zipped off to some other part of the library to keep Leonidas from witnessing the mess they'd made of his entryway, and presumably save him from having an aneurysm.
Between lugging the rice to the library to begin with and giving Ava's snout such an aggressive and thorough massaging, Ateya's muscles were well and truly fatigued and starting to feel sore by the time she reached the big double doors. She fought to get the lock undone, and struggled with the doors themselves, trying to pry one open just enough to get a shoulder behind and shove against with all her might so it would move. The rush of rice and water pushing back along the floor did not help much.
She had the first door halfway open, and was leaning all her weight against it when Ava returned holding a push broom and a pair of squeegees. They flew over to help her, and she nearly fell when the door swung open from beneath her efforts. She stumbled and caught herself.
āThanks,ā she panted, bracing herself on her thighs to catch her breath.Ā
Ava fluttered over to the other door to get it opened as well.
āYou exhausted yourself bringing that to me ā they observed.Ā
āI know,ā she said. āProbably not my best idea, considering...ā
She gestured briefly and vaguely at the floor to indicate the rest of the thought.
āHmm... But I do feel a bit better,ā Ava said, smirking down at her encouragingly from where they hovered. āI appreciate your efforts. It was very thoughtful and very kind of you.āĀ
Despite the exhaustion, the sore muscles, the thorough soaking, and the arduous task ahead, Ateya broke into a grin.Ā
āNice,ā she said.Ā
No books were returned to the shelves that evening. Instead, Ateya and Ava spent the rest of the night painstakingly removing sopping wet, heavy, uncooked rice from not only every corner and crevice of the entryway, but also the entrances of every room and hallway adjoining it on the first level.
Ava insisted on taking the brunt of the sweeping, and once everything was clean they shuffled everything down the steps, off the curb, and into the road for the street sweeper to take care of in the early morning, which was approaching more rapidly than either of them would have wanted.Ā
āI may have made a mistake,ā Ateya said, slouching against the doorframe as Ava flew back inside and alighted on the now-dry marble. They gave a short inquisitive hum in response.Ā
āI still have to walk home,ā she complained woefully, sinking down to the ground.Ā
āYou said you live close?ā Ava asked. Ateya looked up at them from where she sat.
āYeah, but it's still going to be a bitch,ā she said. At least her shirt was nearly dry. It wouldn't be any good for her to catch a chill from the whole experience, herself.Ā
āYou don't have to walk,ā Ava said, shaking their head.Ā
āWhat are you talking about? Of course I have to walk,ā Ateya said. āI don't think Leonidas would be too keen on me staying over and besides, I have work in a few hours. Oh who am I kidding, I'm probably going to call out. I'm not going to be able to move tomorrow...ā
āI'll fly you home,ā Ava offered.Ā
āReally?ā Ateya asked. Ava gave a small, snorting grunt and a nod.
āYou've put yourself out a great deal, just to be kind to me. It is the least I can do,ā they said.Ā
āThat would be amazing,ā Ateya said gratefully, feeling altogether too limp to refuse.Ā
The flight to Ateya's seventh story walk-up was just as smooth and fluid as their flights through the library had been, if noticeably slower. Ava didn't race through the streets as they raced around their home. The trip was still faster than most vehicles, and significantly quicker than walking would have been. They flew her right up to her bedroom window to save her the trouble of getting up the stairs.Ā
It was a bit awkward trying to slide the windowpane open from within Ava's arms, but Ateya was able to manage it, then clambering inside and dropping unceremoniously to the floor. She got herself up onto her knees and propped herself against the window ledge by the elbows.
āThanks,ā she said.Ā
Ava smiled and gave her a nod.Ā
āYou're most welcome,ā they said. Then looking out at the sky, they nodded to themself.Ā
āI need to head back to the library, the sun will be up soon. Thank you again, for all your help. -sngrrkh!- I truly appreciate it,ā they said. It was the first time Ateya had heard them snort like that in a few hours. Maybe the rice really had helped.Ā
āI'm glad it was worth the clean-up,ā she smirked back. āYou have to get back by sunrise? Is Leo expecting you?āĀ
āHe is, but that isn't why,ā Ava said. āI need to resume my post before repetrifying. ...I can tell you more about it later, if you're interested.ā
Ateya yawned massively and gave a nod.Ā
āI won't keep you then. Goodnight,Ā Ava. Or. Good morning? I'll see you around,ā she said. Ava gave a quick nod, and made back for the library like a bat out of hell, disappearing with a blur in a rustle of wind.Ā
Ateya stared after them for a moment before dragging herself heavily to her bed, pulling herself up onto it, rolling over, and falling asleep in her dayclothes.Ā

GOD Iām fucking hooked on your Water From A Stone series, itās so well written!!!
I was wondering, do you have any design refs for Ateya, Ava, or Leo? The descriptions are so vivid and evocative, but I canāt help my curiosity around any visual traits/details that havenāt been mentionedā!
I also wanted to share a small thought that keeps occurring to me (mostly bc I love the trope so much); Leo clearly has Something magical and strange going onā what with the abnormal strength + Ava being intimidated by, or at least strangely subservient to, himā and although Iām sure thatāll be revealed in due time, I still wanted to share my thoughts beforehandā!
His strange affinity for/association with warmth (even in his color palette, from what youāve describedā!) makes me wonder if he might be draconic in nature? The red hair might also be lending to that idea for me, though Iām not sure why & it seems silly to type outloud. Maybe itās just a trait I see often with draconic-characters-turned-human⦠It feels effective though, so Iām not complaining!
Not to mention, his demand for a story from Ateya + his requirements around it piqued my interest; itās giving fae rules, almost! And it feels fitting, given the fact that he runs a library so massive and strictly-kept!
Either way, Iām excited to learn more about these guys !! Incredible work as always!! š„¹

i cannot tell you how floored i am with this level of praise and engagement thank you so much! i like. had to lay down. this is amazing. thank you.
i am overjoyed that you're liking my series so much!!! š„°
with regard to designs/refs yes kind of i do! ive been doodling up some avas for the last two days, i plan on and i kiiiiind of have some leos drawn... not enough drawings of him that i can share yet tho... ;D
i actually haven't doodled ateya at all yet! i'd like to when i have the time :D i know i haven't really described her much yet as the pov character š she's cute tho! i'll be putting up her art with her bio when i ever get around to it too š
she's like 5'7, has light brown skin and almond shaped dark warm brown eyes, straight black hair cut just above the shoulder that's cut slightly higher in the back with a long straight fringe. she has an athletic build and she usually wears clothing she can move in when she's not at work. im still fiddling with her exact design beyond that but i have some shapes and color ideas.
i plan on sharing mybart of them all when it's ready and as it's ready! šš
as to what exactly leo is... ooh i like your guesses... who can say? ;3 we'll just have to wait and seee.... hehehe but i like that i have you guessing!!!
YIPPEEEE Iām glad I could share my commentary and praise !!! š„¹
I love getting to engage more deeply with fics, whether theyāre kink-centric or notā I canāt help it, character + story analysis is one of my favorite ways to engage with Any written media !!! Itās fun getting to give some proper acknowledgement and appreciation for the little details writers include, and I think your work has a hell of a lot worth appreciating!
OOOH Ateya sounds gorgeousā be still my little sapphic heart š (I could say that about all three characters, ngl š³š³ They all kinda make me insane in the best way possibleā)
And I do love a good mystery, heheh ;]⬠Leoās absolutely piqued my interest, Iām excited to keep theorizing about what he is!! (I might be a little down bad for him already, I canāt help it š Even the implication of him being bothered by the cold & being defensive about it had me imagining putting him in his place a little bit shsvHSVSHSV)
Iām excited to see whatever you choose to share about the three of them (or any of your characters, for that matter!) in the future!
Content Warnings: Allusions to poor self-image/worth, moderately heavy mess
Note: Every now and again a cozy comfort fic comes around thatās written purely for indulgence. Projecting is really therapeutic, especially while climbing my way out of a rough spot. This is a new take on one thoughāinstead of the reader being the subject receiving the doting and care, theyāre the one giving it! I think I might also make this fic a canonical precursor to Sternutation Incantation, where the reader and Mycah first begin truly talking. Anyway!! The reader acts on some impulses and doesnāt realize how much itās appreciated. Please enjoy this gooey and heartwarming little fic!
āhhāHhdttzsssch!!!ā
You always had an eye on Mycah. The two of you had been taking a handful of the same courses this semester; Applied Brewing 221, Psychology & Enchantment 163, and the weekly Transmutation Masterclass which you found yourself in presently. This was a favorite of yours, but not solely because transmutation was your area of study!
For one, the lecture hall was uncontested in grandeur. Opulent grotesques of winged cats curled up and lounged within symmetrical pillars, some perched like owls in their marble trees. Fourteen rows of benches snaked around the roomāseven on ground level, and seven on the upper balcony, accessible via staircase or floating platform. You preferred the balcony, it was easier to get away with people-watching.
Like Mycah, for example.
āā¦snff! Hh! Hhheddāiisshw!ā Mycah, the yellow tiefling seated only one row in front of you, seemed to be a bit sneezier than usualā¦well, usual still being sneezier than the average person. He seemed to scoff and mumble to himself, sweeping excess dust from his robes as if it would quell his hitches. He had created a bubble of vacant seats around him, which you couldnāt blame the other students forāmidterms were coming up, and no one was eager to catch a potential cold.
āThe Texture Transfer Manual is currently on hold in the library until Willownook University gets permission for duplication from Obard Academy,ā Professor Swanfeather cautioned as the class began to conclude, āuntil it does, please do not attempt any duplication spells to snag an extra copyā¦I will message you all on Canvas when we get approval, but I suspect itāll be at least two business days. Next week, Iād like to see you all prepared for texture transmogrification demonstrations in groups of two.ā
A chorus of poorly-stifled annoyance filled the room, to the old halfling professorās amusement. āOh come now, you mustnāt grouse at the prospect of new friendships! Let this be an opportunity, find someone who you havenāt spoken to this week. Find a new friend, and enjoy the tides of change!ā
You couldnāt help but look at the back of Mycahās head in thought. You watched his ears lift at the professorās words, before dismissively pinning back into airplane mode. He eyed the vacancies on all sides of him solemnly.
The distant chimes of the hour rang. The class rose in quick bursts of students, some eagerly launching to find partners, others making their exit. Mycah was among the latter groupāhe was out the doors before you could muster up the courage to ask.
Oh well, a fleeting moment. You were sure you could catch him tomorrow morning during Applied Brewing, it wasnāt like this was your only shot.
Noon was spent in the library. You needed to return the psychology books youād used for last weekās paper, as much as it pained you. You didnāt expect to get sucked into the psychology of linguistics in verbal enchantment components as much as you did.
āHh-hHhā¦snf! Hhh..! HddāZZISSHHhuw-!ā It took everything not to wheel around towards the source of the sound. That was Mycah, he was somewhere in the library, on the secondā¦no, third floor. Perhaps your opportunity hadnāt evaded you after all! You had never been quicker to place the books in the return slot, and rush to a nearby elevator in pursuit. The third floor was cramped with book cases, each one filled to bursting with hefty texts and tomes. Occasionally, the labyrinth of dust and parchment would open up to a study area or twoābrief pockets occupied by small tables and whispering students. There would be a narrow corridor, and then four humans reciting a divination spell over a letterboardāgoofing off, certainly. Another corridor, and the next set of tables would be empty. Or at least, almost empty.
It shouldnāt have surprised you to see Mycah solely occupying a four-person table alone. A crumpled tissue was making its best effort to keep clear mess from overflowing and leaking all over his face. It pressed firmly against his orange and red nostrils, and evidence of allergic tears made his cheeks glisten.
Something about him compelled you to approach at lastāperhaps it was the empty tissue pack on the table that you could replace with your own. You kept your voice low and level when pardoning yourself and making an introduction. When he realized he was being addressed, his hands hurried to his eyes, hastily clearing the residue. Something about the swiftness suggested those werenāt necessarily allergic tears he grasped at. An empathetic rush tugged your shoulders down.
Mycah cleared his throat, his nose squeaking noisily whenever he sniffled. āAfternoon, ahā¦Aspen Mycah. You can just call me Mycah, though. We have Trans-301 together, right?ā
That was correct, among other things. Mycah tossed his last tissue in a nearby bin, which joined a gracious amount of them in the steel basket. Each was folded over itself twiceāMycah likely blew his nose by pinching it over his nostrils, before folding it a second time to wipe at any residue. Thatād also explain the chapped look of his septum.
āAh, well, I do have the Texture Tansfer Manual, but Iām in no rush to study it if you need it. Iāll probably be here the rest of the day anyhow.ā
The hefty book in his grasp was quickly closed and offered forward to you with both hands. He was trying his hardest not to breathe out of his mouth, but the poor thing was terribly stuffed upāone nostril sounded like it was refusing to cooperate at all. In his attempts to sniff and sniff and sniff for clarity, the unclogged side was rudely introduced to the copious amount of dust kicked up in the brief exchange.
You hurriedly explained that you werenāt here to take the textbook from him. You were a transmutation studentāyouād read that textbook, cover to cover, against your will, last year. You felt an embarrassed warmth rush to your face as Mycah responded in ticklish breaths.
āHh-hh! Sorry- IāmāhhHh! Hxxtāā¦chw!!ā You blessed his stifle sincerely. He wasnāt done, āHttāppchtt!! Iām so s-ssorry, snf! Dust makes me sneeze like crazy.ā
The book was set back on the table when you blessed him again. Since he brought the subject up, you took the opportunity to offer him the tissues in your possession. The quiet shock on his face amused you a bitāgoodness, had no one offered him tissues before??
āAre you sure..? I can make my own, I donāt want to take these unless itās truly alrāhhighāhdDāiishhhuw!ā He whipped his head away quickly into his bent elbow. It was quite wet, leaving his head buried in his arm from the unfortunate sounds of mess. You blessed him again, setting the tissues down within reach, before grabbing one to offer to his free hand.
As he cleaned himself off, you gave him a bit of privacy, busying yourself instead with setting your bag down on the opposite end of his table. He blew as gently as he could into the tissue, folded it, and tried his hardest to blotch the residue before adding it to the collection in the waste bin. Hah! Looks like your observation was correct.
You brought up the masterclass assignmentāthere was no smoother segue you could find into it, but oh well. Requiring pair projects in university felt a bit redundant to you, and Mycah seemed to chuckle in agreement.
āYeah, I know what you mean. Saying āfind a new friend,ā to a lecture hall of wizards feels like an oxymoron.ā
Youād be his friend!
ā¦A beat of silence hung between the both of you once you said it. You winced inwardlyāwas it too cringe to just outright say that nowadays? To emphasize your point, you took the vacant chair to his immediate left, and busied yourself grabbing your scrolls and notes. Though, when you looked up, he was still staring at you with raw disbelief. It hit him, hard. It looked difficult for him to swallow. You knew the face of stifling tears, you had felt it on your own so many times before.
You tried your hardest to tread delicately, lightheartedly asking if anyone had offered that before. He shook his head, and you mentioned how honored you were to be the first.
āGoodness, these allergies,ā he spoke clumsily, rubbing his eyes under his glasses with a fist. He was trying to preemptively clear tears that hadnāt quite formed yetāpoor thing, didnāt he know thatād only spur them on quicker? You both knew his words were a pitiful half-truth, he only verbalized it to excuse being so touched.
You asked if hugs were something he was alright with. He hesitated, and you stood to prove you meant it.
āIāyeah, sorry, I was justā¦snf! Caught off gāā
You embraced him the moment he had stood and pushed his chair in. He tensed for a moment, but a sincere squeeze invited him to lean in and return it.
You felt a warm ache in your stomach as he began to tremble in your arms. His body was flinching with sobs he refused to verbalize, aside from shuddering inhales that grew wetter each time. You rubbed his back and leaned ināit was the best you could do for him at the moment. He was a lonely soul, who likely tricked himself into believing it was by choice. You knew that feeling all too well.
It was uncertain how long the two of you held one another. It wouldāve been longer if not for Mycahās breath catching. He pawed at you to let him go, turning away with reddened eyes and a graciously dripping nose. That was the thing with holding back tears, theyād only drain into his nose and make it run profusely.
āIām gonna sāsneeze,ā which was alright, of course, āhH..! Ihh- hdD- Ihhtzzschhuwwh!! Hhhittszchhhuw!ā
His nose clearly didnāt take too kindly to the salty tears flushing through them. The muffled sneezes sounded thick with mess, loosening up a once-stuffy nose into a water feature. When he lifted his head from his arm again, you could see the mucus trembling behind his twitching nostrils, patiently waiting like dollops of honey hanging from its comb. It made his face scrunch up in desperation. His nose tickled so severely that it was growing impossible to hide.
Maybe it would be best to skip the studying session, at least for now. A dusty library and a wet, allergic nose wasnāt the best combination. You made an offer to talk together in the courtyard instead, and perhaps find him a proper box of tissues on the way.
āThatā¦Iād like that, yeahā¦ā
Mycah tucked your tissue pack in his pocket and the both of you gathered your things. Mycahās sniffles had become syrupy and heavy, despite how gentle he was trying to be.
It was gorgeous outside today, and no one was taking advantage of it aside from the wizards training in the broom field. As the two of you walked down the vaulted stone skybridge, you made a pit stop at a nearby bathroom to acquire a roll of toilet paper. Out came your wand, and you demonstrated with a bit of pride as the roll was transformed into a quaint, white tissue box. An extra-fluffy tissue blossomed from its top.
Mycahās needy nose twitched greedily when he laid eyes upon it. āThank you, youāre so generousāhere, I couldā¦hHhcould trade you back your pack,ā
Mycah reached into his pocket, but you insisted he keep those too. He struggled awkwardly as the tickle of a building sneeze sprouted on his expression. It was rushing up his nose faster than he could react to it, and amidst redirecting his hands towards the fresh box, he whipped his head over his shoulder.
āhHuhHhā! UHhkāssSCHHhhww!!ā The poor thing snapped at the hip, openly spraying the floor and catching the front of his shirt in the blast. As you blessed him woefully, the box was inched closer. He shied away from it, cupping his hands over his face in horrified embarrassment.
āIāmb so sorryāIāmb so gross, itās a messā¦ā he blubbered with a flushed face. You didnāt mind, and to be frank, it was only a matter of time before a sneeze like that happened, what with the tears and allergies.Ā
ā¦If the two of you hadnāt just met, you wouldāve offered to help clean him up. Oh well, all in due time! At least Mycah wasnāt shy about blowing his nose productively now, after all that embarrassment.Ā
The two of you found a quiet spot on the cobblestone stairs. Freckles of sunlight pierced the trees and kissed your matching robes.
āTheyāre so soft,ā Mycah mumbled into the handful of tissues against his face. āItās a perfect texture transmogrification, how did you do that?ā
You remembered it well from the Texture Transfer Manual, specifically in the prologue: āA great deal of transmutation magic is intentionality.ā The toilet paper was a scratchy nightmare, and a lot of the incantation was dedicated towards something easier on his nose.
āā¦the world needs more people with your type of kindness, I think,ā Mycah nodded quietly, āthank you againā¦forā¦for a- for a lot, honestly. For asking to be my friend, the tissues, the hugāI only just realized I havenāt hugged another person in over a year.ā
For a while, the two of you simply talked. Talked about all manner of things, as if youād been speaking this way to one another for years. Among them were the obvious ice breakers; areas of study, free time, passions. Mycah was just entering his second year of conjuration for his undergraduate degree. He was the son of Professor Aisha Mycah, who taught at QIAA (the Queensland Institute of Applied Arcana). She developed the mobility band, a magical bracelet that could summon and store mobility aids.Ā
She was his biggest inspiration, that was no surprise. Thanks to her, he often was at the top of his class. She never pressured him into following in her footsteps, in fact, she insisted he didnāt study where she taught out of a necessity for independence and individuality. It made sense why Mycah hadnāt hugged someone in so long.
He was finding himself out, and that was stressful. He was in a chess club, but not many liked playing with someone who was too good at the game. He was a tabletop nerd, D&D among his favorites, and would play weekly in downtown Mendacem. Most of the players didnāt speak to each other outside of those Thursday nights. He had a roommate, a human named Thomas, and the two were close!
āAt least Iād like to think we are,ā a bitter addendum that made your brow furrow. āDonāt get me wrong, heās my best friendā¦I justā¦I donāt know. I get the feeling Iām not his. Is that weird to say?ā
As he elaborated, you couldnāt help but agree. They were different, he was this swiftbroom jock who spent as much time as he could with his team. Mycah and Thomas did a lot together, but usually beneath a cloud of thrill Thomas had for his teammates. Mycah didnāt blame him, to be clear: quite the opposite. It was always heartwarming to see the guy laugh and cry with such a tightly-knit group of good people. Mycah was, as he put it to you, āā¦simply jealous, and too ashamed to admit it, you know? I-itās..! Stupid, really: but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that amongst everyone Iām friends with, Iām their second choice at best. Itās stupid because I should be grateful for what Iāve got, or maybe I should put more effort into being a better friend for the people I care aboutāā
There was a painful pause. A sniffle followed it. āā¦but I dunno. I get in my head. I worry itās something about me thatās holding me back from it all. Like, of course Iām not closer friends with one of Willownookās greatest athletes. I can hardly walk between classes without gasping for air. And itās also hard to make friends as a tiefling, especially at a predominantly-ord institution like this. I donāt really fit in with the other tieflings, Iām too studious and complicit with the system for them.ā
Mycah scowled at himself in the reflection of his Oxford shoes. āAnd Iām notāā
He didnāt finish his sentence. He didnāt need to, either. The hurt, pitifully sour look he gave his shoes spoke for him. He couldnāt see how gentle and sweet he looked, those poor, kind eyes behind those round spectacles. The smattering of spots, the beautifully flawed acne scars. Heād blinded himself to his own beauty years ago, and that sort of blindness was hard to reverse.
āSorry,ā he cleared his throat, and blew his nose, āI didnāt realize this would just turn into a vent on my endā¦youāve been nothing but kind and generous to me. I-I didnāt know I had so much on my chestāā
There was a rising panic in his voice; had he already sullied the chance of a new friend?
Of course not.
You asked for a second embrace. He tearfully accepted. He was doing the best he could to keep himself together, but you didnāt shame him when he fell apart in your arms.
āBloody nine,ā he parted after a minute or two, his sniffles squeaking, āyour poor robesā¦snff! Thank youāIām gonna start sneezing again at this rate.ā
You tore a few tissues from the box, and after a request for permission, lifted his glasses and gently patted his sorrowful eyes. You felt that warm ache in your stomach return as his once-dormant tail curled and lifted with comfort. The moment was short, at least before hitching breaths interrupted the serenity.
āIām ss-hHh! sorry,ā he sighed, but his breath snagged again. āIām a really sneezy perHh-! Hhh..!ā
You hurriedly handed him the tissues his eyes were wiped with, and he buried his nose in them, turning away.
āHHedDZZSschhw!! Ihh- iih! ihgāISSHHhw!! HHheh-! hnKKSSHhhww!!ā It would develop into a fit of nine. He was too exhausted to hide their intensity. You were certain to bless each and every one of them.
āThank youā¦snff!! Snfftā¦Iām sorry, youāre gonna have to get used to that.ā
You could get used to it alright, but you didnāt dare say that out loud. Instead, it was something more blanketedāit was hardly a bad thing, everyone sneezes, or something else to that effect.
āI think youāre the kindest person Iāve metā¦anyway, Iāve talked your ear off enough, mate. Iād love to sit and listen for a while insteadāletās seeā¦snf..! Whatās one of the biggest things on your bucket list?ā
Extremely NSFW and lengthy A & B snzario below. š«¢ Maybe this has been done before but hear me out:
A is going down on their partner (B) and their nose is really beginning to tickle. Maybe itās Bās pubic hair against their nose -- maybe itās a tickle that preceded current activities that theyāve been valiantly staving off thus far -- but whatever it is, it's really about to become a problem.
B is close. A knows this by the way B is squirming, the way B's fingernails are clawing through A's hair and against their scalp -- but A also knows the sneeze is inevitable and imminent.
And so, A pulls away, gasps out a damp and breathless apology, and ducks away with a sneeze that makes itself known it has not appreciated being held back all this time, thank you very much.
Recovering almost immediately, A is preparing to quickly turn their attention back to B ā but itās in that same moment that B comes with such raw, devastating, shattering intensity that A can only watch, genuinely open-mouthed.
A has made B come many, many times before, but never like this. Never with B's whole body surrendering so instantly, so violently, so thoroughly. So seemingly endlessly. Wave after wave of pleasure eventually ebbs as B pulls A close against them, eventually collapsing back against the pillows, cheeks flushed pink, breathing hard, their stomach quivering.
"Holy fucking shit, B," A murmurs, their voice rough between the cradle of B's thighs. "I don't think I've seen you...never like that...not even close."
B's hands reach up to cover their face, they're blushing furiously now.
A is...gobsmacked. They slowly crawl up B's body and gently tug B's hands away from their face. "Hey," A says. "Talk to me. Not that i'm complaining, because that was the hottest fucking thing I've ever seen, but that wasn't...usual. For us. That was...that was something else entirely."
B's face turns scarlet. They turn their head into the pillow, hiding from A.
A's mind is starting to race. They're putting certain...past moments together. Certain things and suggestions they've picked up on over time but could never quite put together. Is it possible...? Could it have been...?
"Is it..." A pauses, choosing their words carefully before continuing, "...was that because I sneezed?" they ask in a low, steady voice.
B makes a strangled squeak of a sound and flings their arm over their face. Between that and the fact that their ears are now also blushing, it's more or less a full admission.
"B", A chuckles, brushing back a strand of B's damp hair from their face, "It's okay. I'm not weirded out. If that's what it was..."
B nods from behind the shield of their arm.
"...I want to know how to make that happen again for you." A finishes.
B lowers their arm. Gazing into A's eyes now, hesitation melting into trust. A trust they've never shared with anyone before.
A leans in, kisses B deeply, and then pulls back, smiling. Their tone is soft but their eyes are sharp when they speak again.
"Do you remember that [perfume/cologne]?" A asks, tracing idle circles with their finger on B's hip. "The one you bought a few months ago that made me sneeze every time you got within three feet of me? That you complained cost too much to throw out?"
B's eyes widen a little. They nod. They know damn well what B is talking about.
"Did you end up keeping it?"
B bites their lip, and nods again.
A's smiles turns wicked.
"Good," A whispers, leaning in until their lips brush against B's ear. "Because I think we're going to need it."

someone who always sneezes more than once, for whatever rhyme or reason, uncharacteristically sneezing only once ā subsequently squinting suspiciously and hazily at some middle distance, not because they feel the next sneeze coming, but because they don't.
Woke up this morning coughing & sniffling something fierce, and may or may not have developed a small coldā soā¦.! I did the only thing a sane person would do in that situation, and induced + recorded it š (/sarcasm)
Headsup that the sneezes themselves are kinda loud/forceful, even if muffled, + thereās,, audible mess,, and a nose blow at the end,, Also a bit of (slightly) indistinct/stuffy rambling,,,
