It’s such an inevitable nirvanna the band thing to become fascinated with Jared. No one is more interesting to me than the guy who saw a couple of eps of the webseries and was like “I Will Help Them. Forever.” Also convinced that in universe Jared is a Truman show level mastermind like Matt said in that one interview while additionally being their dumb friend who they bully and who does this for free. something I find really interesting about the sitcom format of the show is how it’s not the universe punishing the characters for trying to break the status quo. it’s specifically matt punishing jay for trying to break the status quo.

as a huge fan of both ntbts and nirvana, when they played smells like teen spirit in the live show, i think i blacked out

i'm glad they translated the ending of the webseries' The Banned over to The Blindside pretty closely because they were cognizant of how important that sincere emotional beat is, but the original ending will always be crazier to me. matt doesn't get hurt after defending jay, he gets hurt while doing the dumb shit he planned in the first place. jay is exasperated and has been exasperated with him for the entire episode, but matt is hurt and gets oddly polite and soft-spoken. so when he says Treasure Island is his favorite book, jay doesn't say anything else, just starts reading it to him, and the camera pulls away because it's a private moment. it feels even more intimate because it's nighttime and they're the only ones there. honestly this is the scene that sold me on the entire show

I love how they use the band as a easier-to-digest shorthand for their whole relationship …. Like in peanuts and Matt is like do u ever think about if one of us meets a girl and we have to break up the band. delete “the band” from that sentence and u get the actual thought. then jay is like im one part of the band and hes the other part. just saying theyre two parts of a whole. there’s no band. it’s just Matt and Jay . What I’m saying is the real nirvanna the band was love
