We know what the boys have said about it, and they said (paraphrasing) that they considered having trans actors as foils to their cis actor, as if trans women are somehow less authentic than cis women. From the way Bill spoke about it, he was very involved in the casting. He wanted to have trans women in the video, then he vetoed that and chose drag queens instead. Bill claimed this as his own idea. So we do actually know some important information about how the video was made.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but who is “we” here? Are you trans, anon? I don’t want to assume you are cis so this is an honest question. If you are trans, we can absolutely talk in terms of “we”. If you are cis, please understand that a cis person worrying about their fave being transphobic is not the same as a trans person worrying about it.

Listen, I love Bill to death, because he is gender-variant. I can never state enough how important he was to me as a young queer growing up. But gender-variant cis people are not trans. Unless Bill is actually trans/non-binary, he is not an expert on trans identity or how to treat trans people. I think it’s very important to clarify here that gender non-conforming people who are cis can and even often do say and do transphobic things. Some of the most transmisogynistic people I’ve seen are drag queens!!! I’m not saying this is proof that Bill is transphobic!! I’m just saying it’s not proof that he isn’t either.

Gender expression =/= sexual orientation or gender identity. Also while I’m at it, sexual orientation =/= gender identity. Let’s not pretend like we know anything about Bill’s identity other than what he has told us in his own words. Less politely, fuck outta here with this logic, seriously.
