#inherently? no #people make sim stories with their original sims all the time #and the ones that heavily involve premade sims are a bit of a grey area i feel #like they are kind of made to be messed with in the first place #how far do we stretch the definition of fanfiction?#premade sims tend to have A Lot of blanks to fill in - possibly to the point of becoming original iterations of the characters #also often they kinda end up being side or background characters anyway. the story might not even be About Them #is that fanfic?#is it fanfic when my alien vampire girl just sort of happened to marry lilith pleasant?#is it fanfic when one of my main vampires just sort of happens to be the son of gunther munch?#i don't really think of it as such #are premade sims public domain? no idea #but i feel like we kinda treat them as such

think i'm gonna have to wait for additional tutorials and also official in-game meshes to frankenmesh with, i don't really like blender 4.2.4 much :/

it's too alien for me. nothing is in the right place. i'm too used to 2.7. i don't know the shortcuts anymore, nor where literally anything is, and i can't figure out how to make that mesh Not Pink. aaaaa

i guess i could still prepare some textures.....

#i keep coming back to look at this #it keeps pissing me off #i understand that creators aren't vocal about the things they want because its whatever #we work within a game's limitations #but this has to be one of the worst things to copy from the sims #its all over the place #boundaries and meshes are curved?? #I'm pretty sure theres less space overall on this map too #it's not going to be very creator friendly #less so than the ea map #i get that it saves on memory and helps optimize the game but c'mon dude #it's 2026 not 2014, computers can take more than whatever this tf this is #even ts3 and ts2 had separate maps for everything #what a disappointing choice

Honestly, I would encourage more low effort sims content. I do not edit my photos and I just add the subtitles in MS Paint. This is because the time I get to create content to stick up here is actually pretty limited and I don’t find digitally editing screenshots fun.

Don’t get me wrong - if editing is your thing then you should do that, but if you’re not that into it you can still have a good time on here doing whatever you’re actually into.

You can follow all those editing tutorials. You can also just not fucking bother, and stick your photos straight up. You won't get 100+ notes on every post but like, nobody is getting paid for this shit anyway soooo....

Oh, thank you! Glad someone voiced this, I've been thinking about it a lot in the past few days but couldn't quite English it. Watching all these editing tutorials pop up lately, listing like 10+ tools you need, and while they are probably great to those who seek to learn, they also create the impression that editing is absolutely necessary. Well, that it's kinda true, no matter how much people say they'd rather see unedited screenshots, they also would rather not interact or otherwise show any interest in them :D But if you are not creating content, but just having fun and sharing it, there shouldn't be any pressure on how you share it, right?

just to add onto this...I follow quite a few simblrs who don't edit their photos at all, and I interact not because of the photos themselves, but because I'm invested in the story and the sims. it's about what you're putting in, not about what your stuff looks like.

when I follow someone, it isn't just about aesthetics. I want to be inspired, and pretty pictures are nice, sure, but seeing people enjoy their game? THAT'S what gets me excited and interested. people engaging in the community? THAT'S what inspires me.

if you're having fun, it will show, and people flock to that.

I do minimal editing because doing more than that stressed me out. I also keep my gameplay simple. I rarely use poses. I have an outline, but mostly I just follow my sims around with the camera and hope it works out. This is a hobby. It should be fun. Don't do stuff you don't want to just for notes.

I just brighten my screenshots a little sometimes but otherwise I don't edit them.

My gameplay is mostly just watching my Sims do stuff on their own / sims couples being cute together lol.

#YEAH #i have been very burnt out in general lately but #part of the reason i started procrastinating on posting my cc at all was because i did not like to edit and make it all presentable #take my in game screenshots. graphic design is not my passion. i don't WANT to do it up all fancy #same goes for the gameplay stories i did #nobody really cared for them #i liked taking screenies and put captions on and write dialogue and kinda do a story #but nobody cared. i was lucky if i got one note.#i even had plans but the demotivation got me #like why share it at all if nobody wants to see

Hi, it's been a while since I posted anything new on this blog, but!!

I just wanted to let yall know about my most recent project, which has been to recreate a couple few Norwegian knit sweater patterns (Setesdal, Fana, Marius) for The Sims 3, utilizing the amazing CASt tool that a certain game never got!!

Each of these have at least two recolorable channels, allowing you to essentially pick the color of your yarn.

At the moment it's honestly more of a prototype, only being available for Adult Male (this is a recolor, the mesh is basegame, and there are no good basegame AF sweaters I can use as a base. What!!!)

...but, I might as well leave a download link to it anyway, for now.

#bat didn't wanna model #sims 3 #you can even use patterns for the pattern swatches to give the illusion of multicolored yarn #also it nearly perfectly aligns with the premade knit pattern in CASt!!#so i recommend that for the swatches that are otherwise kinda plain

old immortal sims who are never technically becoming elders should be allowed to have the wise trait too i think

there are several occults that are able to achieve immortality (spellcasters, werewolves), or heck, are immortal by default (vampires) and i just think it would make sense. they get old too.

i really want a mod to exist for this. even if all it does is literally just unlock the ability to cheat it onto the sims we want, i'm fine with it not being a gameplay thing.

honestly i'm just waiting to play around with paralives at this point. i'm so tired.

CAW for Absolute Beginners – a guide

It took me long enough, but I made a guide for CAW for those of you who always wanted to try to build your own worlds for Sims 3 but never knew where to start. And for those of you who tried but got frustrated because information is hard to find, outdated or just doesn’t cover what you were looking for.
