Yayoi was probably just as much of a madman as everyone else here in this place when it came to achieving what she wanted. No matter what, she was determined to take down every last one of Kaiju’s facilities in order to demolish the entire organization, even if it meant doing it on her own, suffering from whatever they might do to her if ever and whenever they capture her. Not to mention, the facilities are segregated depending on which council member they’re run under, meaning Kanna doesn’t even know if this young hero’s infiltrated any other facilities not run by Lady Tanaka.

So just how many times does this make it? The number of times she’s been caught by the organization?

“..You’re insane. It’s almost a surprise that you aren’t one of Kaiju’s products.” The agent sighed. It’s a good thing she was the one temporarily in charge of this facility at the moment. Otherwise, Lady Tanaka would’ve probably just decided to eat Yayoi up and end her mission right here. No, she needed Yayoi. She’s proven herself enough for Kanna to start expecting more out of her. 

That’s why, once she was sure that the cameras had completely clouded over from her Quirk-induced cold air, she finally took a gentle hold of Yayoi’s hand and held it in her own. Her finger began to draw on the other’s palm. Numbers...? Directions?... No, coordinates.

“These are all the coordinates to every single one of the Kaiju facilities overlooked by Kaiju Council Member Widow, also known as Tanaka Akane. I’ve.. never been to the other Councils’ facilities enough times to memorize their coordinates, but at the very least, this is enough of a start. The three taps in the middle of your palm is when I’ve finished one coordinate and moved on to the next. I’ll cycle through them all as many times as it takes for you to memorize it, so do your best to engrave them all into your brain.”

She sat there, leg tucked under the rear with her hands on her lap, tracing and cycling and letting Yayoi know when she’d start the cycle all over again. Yet, at some point, she ended up slowing to a pause, taking the hero’s hand with both of hers and bowing her head to bring her forehead to it.

“… I beg of you. Get rid of Lady Tanaka’s authority by destroying all of her facilities. Doing this would finally give me the opportunity to be free, and if I’m freed, then.. then I’d finally be able to go against them, go against what I was born to be. Please, hero…”“I just.. want for all this to be over.”

In all honestly, Yayoi was a little unnerved by her own words at this point. She sounded like a villain. But these people needed extreme measures, even things she wouldn’t usually consider.

“Trust me, this place won’t last long anyway. And I can take whatever they can give. Look at my quirk records. Sure, they’re a little outdated, but one thing’s still true: You could cut off all my limbs, skin me alive, anything, and I could still generate wires strong enough to lift over ten tons. They’re gonna have to try hard to break me.”

“Strong words... I really do hope your will is just as how you make it.” Kanna really did want to place her hope in the hero trainee. No doubt did she think that Yayoi truly believed she had it in her to endure this place. Not wanting to freeze this place any more than her presence is doing, though, the agent finally turned heel to face the exit of this room.

“..I look forward to seeing whether you meet my expectations, Hirose Yayoi. I think I find it promising enough to know you’re willing to abandon heroic morals for someone who’s so keen on just revenge. Maybe you’ll fit right in with this place if they give you a more forgiving position... If you still manage to keep your sanity intact when we cross paths again, perhaps I can be of help to you then.”

“..And please.. don’t blame Hakku for surrendering such information against you. We’re only doing what we were born to do. When you do end up killing him, at least reassure him that he’s done nothing wrong, that it’s simply mercy killing to release us from this hell...”

“After all, you’ve only seen the surface of what this place has to offer.” “They’ll always find a way to break you.”

Yayoi sat back and watched the others leave the room. Good, that meant she and her old friend could have some alone time.

Once she was sure no one else would witness it, she smiled. She knew what these people would do to her. So she might as well be playful while she could.

“Well, I was planning to smash your door down and strangle everyone I saw. But I think this way might be more fun. Either way, I’ll get revenge for what you people did to Yuu last year.”

Yayoi leaned against the wall of the containment unit, her smile fading.

“I’ve got some ideas for this place, and everyone in it. But you’re a nice enough person. So, unless you wanna find out what real hell is like, I’d take some time off, maybe in a week or so.”

So this was all was solely for revenge. In a way, Kanna should probably be glad. Whatever it took to bring down this god forsaken organization, she may as well utilize it to some extent somehow. Sounds as though this might come out short, however, depending how strong this girl’s will truly is...

“Mm.. Perhaps I’ll take your word for it.” Not a hint of intimidation seemed to cross her face. Kanna crossed her arms with a quiet sigh, and closed her eyes as if out of condolences. “Unfortunately, this organization isn’t so forgiving as to let me ‘take some time off’, so I might have no choice but to cross paths with you again.”

“It won’t be long now, though... You see, one of the subjects back in the old facility thought the corporation would spare him more suffering if he came back to us instead of going into hiding. Once they realize your connections to the facility you infiltrated with your friends via records and surveillance cameras in his person, I’m certain they’ll try to pry anything else you might be hiding up your sleeves in infiltrating this one.”

“It won’t just be you, either. You’ve jeopardized all of your friends involved. It’s simply a matter of time before they find opportunity to deal with them. Death isn’t an option in this place, either... They’ll find use for you.. one way or another... I’m sure your rescued friend knows of this best.”

“I swear, I just got lost.” Yayoi gave a slightly exaggerated whimper as the needle entered her arm. She was more than used to having blood drawn, considering it was a part of her regular quirk check-ups. But she wanted to keep up the facade of a lost little girl.

She looked over at the holographic screen. Jeez, she probably should update the public record of her quirk. Some of that info was outdated, like how strong her wires were.

“I’ll be taking my leave now,” cued the scientist, stuffing Yayoi’s belongings into his pocket while the others finally put the trespasser in the containment unit. “The Quirk analysis shall be relayed back to Lady Tanaka as soon as possible.”

“... Wait.”  Kanna stopped the scientist before the doors out the room could open up. Her eyes briefly glanced over at Yayoi, but then she turned back to the scientist. “Report your findings to me. Should something happen along the way, we wouldn’t want altered information be yours to blame.”

A look of concern reached everyone’s faces, only for them to understand the need for suspicions seeing how a trespasser arrived. One by one, Yayoi’s records were relayed back to the agent. And at the same time, the air began to grow cold.

Frosty breaths could be visibly seen by the time the scientist left with the personnel to escort him. By now, even the security cameras were beginning to fog up and lag, which meant the perfect opportunity to have a one-on-one with the other in the containment unit.

“.You realize you just surrendered yourself to hell, didn’t you?” Kanna’s voice had gone quiet and stern. “Why did you come back to another one of our facilities?”

Judging from the way these agents reacted to her weak struggles, she could break their necks if she actually applied any real force. But that would be counter productive.

Her eyes connected with the new agent’s. Ah, it was her. So that means they hadn’t fired or killed her following the rescue. Good.

“Oh, just don’t hurt me, miss, please,” she said, with only the tiniest bit of sarcasm. Only for the other woman to notice.

“As long as you comply, there won’t be any unnecessary violence. For now, at least, until we figure out what you’re truly doing here so close to one of our top-secret facilities.”

Whether she noticed the sarcasm or not, Kanna made no effort to react in any sort of form. In fact, more than anything, she was busy trying to figure out what Yayoi’s true motives were.

As the armed men made sure to keep Yayoi still, the scientist made careful work to prepare her arm before drawing out a little blood for analysis. The small vial of blood was hooked into a device on the scientist’s arm, and soon enough, general information on the mechanics of her Quirk as found on public records was beginning to appear on a holographic screen.

Comprehensive Quirk Analysis: Yuki Onna

Quirk: Yuki Onna

“A Quirk in which the user hosts a sentient phantom vaguely outlined to be a woman who bears cryokinetic abilities within their body. Depending on the psychological wavelength between both user and Quirk, the phantom may either be a reliably skillful sentinel, or a deathly rampant monster.”

Quirk Type: Emitter/Activation-type Quirk

Visible Proof of Quirk: a ghostly apparition of a woman figure emerging from the back of the user (active); gradually noticeable drop in temperature in enclosed areas

Noted Analyses:

User’s unconsciously influences in the temperature of an enclosed area, which gradually drops over time.

This grants a boon for the Quirk’s phantom -- the colder the temperature is, the stronger and more solid the phantom becomes. On the contrary, the warmer it is, the weaker and more hollow the phantom becomes.

Extremely high resistance to the cold. The user’s body is also cool to the touch.

The Quirk’s apparition is capable of being activated or deactivated at will, although the user’s psyche possibly determines how efficiently it can be done to deactivate it.

A controlled Yuki Onna is capable of adjusting her size, although by default, it is much larger and tends to loom protectively over its host.

Through a whirlwind of a blizzard, the user is capable of being whisked away by the phantom elsewhere as a means of transportation. The hotter the temperature is, the shorter the distance is traveled.

Notable Kickbacks/Limitations:

The user’s body may be sensitive to heat, which is especially noticeable when handling hot fluids.

Because the user is unable to control their influence with the drop in temperature, staying in an enclosed space for too long will cause ice to form, as well as potential hypothermia or even death to those around them. Eventually, depending on how well-developed the user’s resistance is to the cold, they, too, will succumb to the bitter cold.

Apparently, the Quirk is speculated to be dependent on the psychological connection between both the apparition and the host, which is also display in the figure’s appearance.

A more controlled/cooperative Yuki Onna is capable of sapience and speech. It takes on the appearance of a pale-white, young adult-looking swordswoman adorning a simple white mask with slits for the eyes on her face. She wears a white kimono, and has long, silver hair with a bun tying the upper half of it back.

An uncontrolled Yuki Onna takes on a more ghastly, monstrous appearance, a look possibly akin to wendigos. Irrational and chaotic, it loses its ability to think, reason and speak. A sword and mask is absent, instead making way for sharp, elongated claws and a warped, pale complexion with sunken eyes and fangs. The more the Quirk is out of control, the harder it is to deactivate it at will if not by force.

Open areas take a longer time in influencing its temperature.

Fun Facts:

Yuki-Onna is a yokai, or mythical creature, whose depicted as a ghostly woman found in snowy mountains that terrorizes those lost through her eyes.

The Yuki Onna Quirk is heavily inspired by the Demon Snow ability from Bungou Stray Dog’s Izumi Kyouka.

Apparently, the more sapient Yuki likes making snow bunnies.

Much of the information provided is based on speculations over Tokoyami’s Dark Shadow, who is, so far, the only Quirk consisting of a sentient being.

Bio

A 19-year old female assigned as an one of two agents for the head of Kaiju Corporation’s Business Management Department. Lonely and miserable deep down inside, Kanna finds herself to be a captive in more ways than one. Apparently, she struggles to control her Quirk due to their opposing beliefs, usually only capable of requesting combative assistance or protection from her Quirk at best, and is constantly feeling burdened by obligation towards both the Kaiju Corps and her own Quirk (to which she’s nicknamed Yuki). Due to being born with a Quirk, she wasn’t provided the same leniency (if there even was any) like the other toddler subjects who were still waiting for theirs. She was thrust upon a duty she never wanted from the very beginning, and yet, she ended up having a dysfunctional, yet familial-like attachment towards the organization, further pressing on her sense of obligations.

Deep down, Kanna is no fighter. Rather, she bears a kind and caring at heart, easily fascinated by the simple pleasures of the outside world (especially its delicacies and desserts). It’s just that she was forcibly conditioned into locking up her true feelings inside. She will avoid a fight if she can help it, or spare the innocents when she can. But with her Quirk constantly looming over her like some embodiment of her reality, sometimes, she’ll have no choice but to turn against her own morals.

Her life raised in the hands of the organization continues to accumulate a distorted sense of both responsibility and tainted fascination for pure, innocent things. All she wanted was to live a normal life. Even if it’s now warped-vision one.

Kanna’s surname consists of kanji usa [ 憂 = melancholy, grieve, lament, be anxious, sad, unhappy ] and muna [ 空 = empty, sky, void, vacant, vacuum ]

Kanna’s given name consists of kanji ka [ 華 = splendor, flower, petal, shine, luster, ostentatious, showy, gay, gorgeous ] and na [ 媠 = beautiful, lazy, languid ]

It’s presumed that Kanna was actually a stillborn, with her Quirk being the reason behind her revival upon delivery. Because of this, she bears more obligation towards her own Quirk than she wishes.
