Bane may react to things bitterly, as he’s wont to do, but never has he turned his gaze like a blade to a throat. Least of all at the other across from him.

After all has been said and done, and there is naught left to do… the hero’s journey has come to its end. One should be happy, that peace has finally been achieved and he may return to his life as it were.

Only Bane can’t.

Not because he doesn’t have anything to fall back on, or because he’s hungry for more, but rather because he’s anticipating something else to fall out of the sky. A new threat has risen, an enemy of eld come to settle the score. Something. Anyone. So he bides his time, sharpening his axe or honing his skills with the lance. It brings just as much comfort as it had when Gaius was defeated and Eorzea’s invasion was forestalled. The same comfort he felt when Nidhogg had been slain and Estinien pulled freed from his grasp. Something is always coming, and he must be ready for it. He doesn’t dread this, because he’s so used to it now.

It’s hard to relax and enjoy life when all his life has been so far is resolving conflict after conflict. If any rest is afforded, it’s because he couldn’t stay up any longer.

I’m in the mood for some angst or comfort or SOMETHING. Where Bane is crashing out on someone for taking a hit that was meant for him. “Why would you do something so foolish, have you gone mad?”, spoken with a nervous hiss that begets his frustration.

“I didn’t want you to get hurt!” / “Well I didn’t want to see you get hurt either!”

His IG model has changed to have shorter hair, and the black is coming back. It’s still white, but the black returning is symbolic of him surviving the worst of it and finally being able to RELAX(at least somewhat.) He can enjoy his life with his husband and found family… at long last.

Working on SGE for Bane is so funny because he’s such a hardass of a guy. But rather than running his light party like Hell’s Kitchen, he’s more of a mother goose. Yes, he will yell at you to stay close to him, but even if you do get hurt… he’s more glad that you’re in one piece still as opposed to not.

Would you peel an orange for me?

He’d look incredulously at you for asking something so trivial from him. He, who has felled countless eikons and has been on the front of plenty of revolutions. Why, he’d scoff. How dare you, even. Is this a joke that he’s too stupid to understand? A metaphor, or something else of that sort? Of course, that’s it! Because, for what other reason would you ask him to do something so… simple?

But- before you can go and ask someone else to do it, he’s taking it from your hands, digging his thumb beneath the peel before he starts to rotate the citrus. He’s already working off the skin and muttering something about how stupid it is, to do a retainer’s chore at best. The job is done, the fruit is peeled and it’s back in your hands. There, enjoy it. You’d think he’d be sarcastic, or still annoyed, but on the contrary… he is satisfied. At least, at first. Afterwards he might think, well… now I WANT an orange. Maybe you might want another, so he leaves for a time to gather some more so that you both might enjoy them.
