Life is like a video game

Some people go out and look for a challenge in life.

And some just like to take things easy.

Some like to think , plan ahead and create paths where none exist.

Some like to take every day as it comes.

Some like to fight.

Some seek the thrills.

And some would rather seek some company instead.

Some like to talk.

And some prefer the silence.

Some like to be in the spotlight.

While others prefer the shadows.

Some just want to party.

While for others the party has long ended.

We build.

And we destroy.

We cry.

And we laugh.

And sometimes we do both.

We get angry.

And we calm ourselves.

We make descisions we might regret.

We fight along eachothers sides.

And sometimes we take on the world all on our own.

We take care of others in good times and in bad.

Some will become parents.

And some will find a family in unexpected places

Some want to be part of a team.

And some would rather be alone.

Some like to play.

While some would rather watch.

Life is like a video game.

We all play the same game But while some of us are just starting up their tutorials.

Others are already at the credits.

5-year-old Sophia Chiappalone was born with a heart defect and wasn’t expected to live past age 2. All she wanted before her 4th open heart surgery was to ‘marry’ her best friend, Hunter, so her mom gave them a ‘wedding’ photo shoot. “Most people wait a lifetime for someone who wouldn’t stand by them through such illness,” she said, but Sophia “met a best friend and love of her life at 3 who does.” Source Source 2

This is true! The zoo where I volunteer (the illustrious Columbus Zoo & Aquarium) was one of the pioneers of this program.

Our zoo is known for raising cheetah cubs. Cheetahs have a terrible infant mortality rate and cubs are often rejected, so we get a lot of cubs to raise from all over the country (other zoos and sanctuaries, mostly).

The cubs are placed with a puppy friend when they are wee and small, so they grow up together like littermates. They play together, wrestle, and the dogs (yellow Labs) are so calm, friendly and well-socialized that the cheetahs take behavioral cues from them. When they meet new people, or go into new situations (which they often do, as ambassador animals for cheetah conservation), they check out if their dog friend is feeling chill - which he is - and then they know it’s okay for them to be chill, too.

Basically the dog is a service animal for them.

The cats need their dog friends less and less as they get older and more comfortable, but they still often hang out as grownups.

Our zoo does cheetah runs, where the cheetahs get to chase a lure and show off their speed. Often they’ll have one of the cheetahs run (we have like twelve cheetah), and then they’ll have one of the dogs do the run to show how much faster the cats are. People get a kick out of that. The dogs…let’s just say they try their best.
