First, I would like to focus on the definition of Scarecrow and how that relates to Hide.
Scarecrow: an object made to resemble a human figure, set up to scare birds away from a field where crops are growing. (Oxford)
First off, to resemble a human figure, makes me wonder if Hide is truly human. There is few hints that is thrown in here and there to hint towards him being something more than human.
The eye that’s covered is his left eye. Similar to Kaneki, who’s right eye is covered when he’s wearing his mask. When I saw this I couldn’t help but think about the symbolism about them being half of each other.
Kaneki’s birthday is 12/20, while Hide’s birthday is 6/10. That’s exactly half of Kaneki’s birthday.
Second on what I could think of what Hide represented in most of Tokyo Ghoul is Kaneki’s human side, but that could be different. Kaneki is half ghoul. So maybe Hide is Half-human and not ghoul (gdi Ishida you’re making me confused)
Third is the calendar art:

The number 1 and 2 on them, just makes me more sure that they are half of each other and that can come into play later on in the manga. Don’t get me started on the date. 12/12 = 1. They are a whole! Without the other, they are only a half.
Scarecrow is only a rate-C ghoul, but we don’t know the full capabilities of Hide just yet. He has to be strong to be able to lead this big of a group:
Marudaddy may be giving orders, but it seems he answers to Hide. As seen when he asked Hide (or Mr. Terrorist) what to do with Urie.
And it’s further hinted at in:
Hide wants Urie to join them? That’s almost confirms Hide being head.
I also want to point out the part in red. “The silent unwavering will will it lead them underground?”
The silent part wants me to rip out my hair to be honest.. But Hide’s will still stands. Underground could mean going to the 24th ward. If I’m going to go into further details, I would rather make another post.
The scare off birds could mean to scare off the doves. Meaning working against the doves. And forcing Furuta out of his seat.
I would also like to point out the chapter title:
Hide can be really scary sometimes, but with time I think we can find more out about him.
