I was reading A Town Like Alice by Nevil Shute, one of momās favorite books from way back when, just because it was lying around. And in it Shute talks about Australian cattle stations from a few decades ago. Apparently stealing calves from neighboring stations had been a norm. And to stop the calves from wandering about and heading back to the herd they had designated areas in these stationsā¦
