I'm sorry, I just need to vent. I get that everyone has their own fetishes, kinks, and all that, but what I'm about to say honestly grosses me out a little. Why is it considered normal in the Hobbit fandom to sexualize brotherly relationships?

I'm talking about Kíli and Fíli, just to be clear.

I could maybe, maybe wrap my head around it if they were stepbrothers or something like that, but as far as I know, they're actual blood brothers. It genuinely baffles me when I'm scrolling through AO3 and see a ton of fics featuring this pairing. Sometimes it's even shoved into Bagginshield fics, and I have to sit through these pathetic attempts to normalize incest (?????). Maybe I'm missing something, I really don't know...

To me, their relationship is beautiful and tender, just as an older and younger brother. They're truly inseparable, but honestly, what else would you expect from brothers??? It hurts me to see how easily people can ruin something lovely by sexualizing it. To me, sibling bonds are always something beautiful - they're about support, friendship, love, but not romance, and definitely not all that… coital stuff…

Here's the second part. I can tell it turned out worse than the first one I just wanted to finish it as quickly as possible.

I think this is probably the last part, unfortunately. I'm really tired, and it feels like I used up all my energy on last few drawings.

I think I need a break. I'll definitely come back to drawing Hobbit fanart soon, but I don't want to come back to this comic. It's just a bit too much for me.

I apologise if it’s obvious that this was done in a rush. I really did try my best, though; this is only the second time I’ve ever attempted a comic.

On top of that, I’m planning to draw at least a few more pages of this. (Actually, I’d originally intended to draw them all, but I decided I should post at least one so as not to lose my inspiration, and so I wouldn’t get too downhearted if the whole thing didn’t get much of a response.)

Plus, regarding the plot: ever since I first watched The Hobbit, I've wondered why Thorin never sent Bilbo to search for the Arkenstone after Smaug's defeat, even though the rest of the company was searching for it. Wouldn't that have been the logical thing to do? Bilbo was the burglar, after all.

More broadly, Thorin's selective treatment of Bilbo during the Dragon Sickness always stood out to me. Considering that he trusted almost no one during that period, the fact that Bilbo was treated so differently makes it difficult not to read some romantic undertones into their dynamic.

I totally see the parallels between these two couples - it really could've been the Arkenstone instead of a rose

I also tried my hand at drawing a short comic for the first time. I hope the concept comes through. Basically, Thorin was a giant, overgrown beast while cursed, but even after the curse was lifted, he stayed exactly the same(mostly because he’s just naturally that huge and hairy anyway)

tbh I’m not really feeling this piece, but totally got hyped to make some new ones!

Actually it was quite difficult to draw the characters from tf2 as my style is different from theirs specifically.

but I really enjoyed painting Dr. Ludwig to “and one” songs.
