Life had worked out pretty well for Sookie over the last handful of years. As a child she had always imagined something like this. She dreamed that she would one day get married to someone worth all the love she had and they would have a boat load of children together. She had the opportunity to watch them grow and even she would grow old. She had known even when she met Bill Compton that this was something she wanted. Even if she couldn’t bring herself to say all of this out loud and move on from the vampire she fell in love with. 

Her life had been hard. It almost seemed like she could not escape the ties she had with her vampires - friends and lovers alike. Yet here she was, working on a steady schedule in her husband’s bar with the kids at home keeping an eye on each other. With the help of a baby sitter of course. No way was she gonna let them get into trouble. One person she hadn’t expected to pop up into her life again with Pam. Don’t get her wrong. She liked the vampire. They were friends somewhat, but after everything they went through with Eric, she hardly expected a warm reunion. 

Here the vampire was though, working in the bar. And giving a customer a hard time after all. Sookie had seen the whole thing of course, and knew Pam wasn’t completely to blame. The blonde flexed an eyebrow at her friend, letting her know that she was going to say something sooner or later about what just happened. “Who do you think has to clean that up now?” She decides on saying.

Pam sighed. "I'll clean up whatever spilled." She shrugged. "I have zero tolerance for vampires these days. A statement I never thought I'd make." A bar regular eyed Pam. "How do you know Sookie?" Pam smiled. "She's my maker's ex wife. Well technically only vampires consider her that. I guess I should correct myself since humans wouldn't legally recognize the union." She held her smile. "Humans I guess would call Eric her ex boyfriend." The man blinked. "Vampires have their own marriage ceremonies?"

Pam nodded. "We have customs like humans. We have a few different marriage ceremonies. It doesn't matter to me. I am bi and prefer women. And even some of my kind is predijuce to gay marriage. Ironically considering they all want to be treated equal to humans. " He smiled. "Interesting, but you can't have kids though." Pam shrugged. "It's no different than a gay human couple getting married in a state where it's legalized. They just adopt or opt for a surrogate sort of deal."

She found his interest amusing. "Well vampires only make other vampires for two reasons. They love a human and want to spend forever with them or they want a child. Eric considers me his child. He made another vampire Karin. She'd be considered my vampire sister." He looked at her. "Oh and I thought it was to ruin a human's life." Pam laughed. "Some may do it for that. But mostly it's for a family of sorts." He shrugged. "Do they ask first?" Pam considered his question. "Most do. Some don't. Eric didn't ask me if I wanted it but I woke up okay with it. I guess he got lucky."

He had one final question. "You ever turn someone?" She shook her head. "No. I fell in love with a girl named Miriam. She was sick and I was going to turn her and she wanted it, but she died before I could." And with that he just said he was sorry. She turned back to Sookie. "Is it just me or are the Merlotte regulars less hostile to my kind than usual?"

I once asked Sookie to have mercy on my maker. Love changed him, and I never complained. Somehow her and I saw eye to eye. And along the lines she became my favorite breather. And she once said if she were to claim a friend amongst any of us vampires it’d be me. Well her words were something along the lines of She was my best vampire friend. Not sure that said a lot considering I once told her she was not as intolerable as most humans. Are these compliments? Perhaps, but I do know this. We were friends enough for me to push Eric’s buttons and tell him he needed to be a better significant other to Sookie.

Pam had spent less time with her maker after he left Sookie for The Queen Freyda . Pam found Eric's new wife insufferable. And had wished he had stayed married to Sookie. In her eyes Eric let a good one go. She knew Eric felt like he had no choice but Pam always felt there was ways around predictments. What was Appius gonna do? Rise up from the dead and kill Sookie if his child defied him? Pam found it highly unlikely Pam hadn't always considered Sam a friend. But like Sookie he grew on her. And Pam found herself after her last falling out with Freyda at Sookie's door. Her relationship with Eric had changed ever since his new wife. She was glad to see Sookie happy and married to someone who seemed to give a damn about her. She was living with the Merlotte's and her four children didn't see her as different. She was mama's friend Pam. She had to drink those blood bottles and couldn't go out during the day. No big deal to them. Pam didn't do well with children normally. She's not the person you'd ask to babysit no. But Sookie's kids were different. Pam liked them. One of them asked about her daddy one day. They meant Eric. Because he was the closet thing to "Dad" she had in her vampire life. Pam told them she was having a fight with her dad and didn't like her new step mommy much. Pam was amused by her own jokes. Freyda and Eric ran Fangtasia now and Pam was demoted to a waitress. Pam decided to quit her job. And Sam and Sookie hired her at Merlotte's. Where she waited tables and bartended. Her tolerance for humans was growing and she felt less hostile towards them at Merlotte's. She assumed it was because she was having issues with her kind right now. Especially the snotty Queen. Pam was at her night shift with Sookie and Sam. She had a few tables and in walked a vampire. Who laughed when he saw Pam. "I never thought I'd see Pam Ravenscroft hanging with humans at a human bar." Pam crinkled her nose. "Blame that Queen of ours." she said walking away. She grabbed a True Blood bottle and threw it at him not bothering to ask what kind. She then walked to her newly sat table and was much nicer to them. She knew Sookie might not care she was rude to a customer but Sam might. She went to the bar to get the next customer's drink waiting for the lecture.

So anyone remember that one time in the 11th book when Pam and Eric got in an all out brawl in the middle of Sookie's kitchen because Pam more or less said Eric sucked as a husband (to sookie)? I do! Yes I want more moments like these with Eric. Give me all the book things.

Any Sookies read the books? I NEED some Pam x Sookie book version. It's literally one of my favorite friendships ever written in a book series and True Blood the show ruined it. I'd be so happy If I could find a Sookie role-player that understands. I am used to show Sook's thinking it's out of character or non canon for Pam to be sweet to Sookie because they don't know book canon.
