How I respond when my therapist suggest I do something I know I'll never do
You have a purpose. You’re here for a reason. Your story is important.
When our clinic passes the audit with no corrective action plans
When my supervisor quits unexpectedly
When a coworker asks me a question that we literally just answered 5 minutes ago
When I get offered a promotion and then see the pay
There's a post going around saying they support anything that knocks a psychiatrist down a few pegs, including yelling at them, lying to them, and being rude to them. I know social work and psychiatry are not the same thing but you all work with the same people, what do you think about something like that? It seemed like it would be really discouraging but I'm not a psychiatrist or a social worker, I've had shitty psychiatrists before but my therapist's really nice and I wonder what she'd think?
My challenge for those that support this kind of behavior is where does it get YOU in your treatment? The reason someone sees a psychiatrist or therapist is to make positive changes in your life and create a life you want to live. If taking your psychiatrist "down a few pegs" leads you to the kind of person you want to be, in line with your values---okay. But to me this seems more like distraction from your own treatment and goals. My opinion.
When a client comes in and asks if you're okay because you look tired but in reality you are fine.
Hey! I love your blog. What area of social work do you work in?
Thanks! I work in a community health outpatient addiction clinic with adults 18-72 as a therapist 😊
When I have to use the bathroom all session but a client is having a legit crisis, so I can’t
When a client gives another client bad advice during group
When you take a mental health day because there’s no way you can mentally see a client in your condition
Is it possible for introverted people to become social workers??
Yes.
