Video Progress update: I encountered problems with heavy compression when using a mk III, so this scene is my experimentation with magic lantern exported in a compressed mp4. I converted the raw video to dng files and then brought them into photoshop, colour graded and batch processed them to tiff files and then created an image sequence in photoshop. Though still compressed it seems to have survived relatively well. A very time taxing process though the quality is fantastic. Colour grade is preliminary. Word.
Making tea - A short film I made half way through the semester. I was playing around with reversing clips, back and forth, editing and sequencing. The song is Lisbon by Bon Iver.Â
Just taught myself how to do keyframe animation in ps. Now for a more complicated version

man the Appalachian mountains really arenât shit huh
The Rockies are new, young and virile and fresh from the Laramide orogeny, tall and lanky teenagers on the geological scale. the Appalachian mountains are old, formed hundreds of millions of years ago before dinosaurs walked the Earth. They are ancients, elders, witnesses to half a billion years of life coming and going. To be tall is not a virtue. To be small is not a sin. The Appalachians are eroding under the weight of time, slowly shrinking and returning to the Earth from which they sprang. Appreciate them while they are still here.
I do want to say real quick again about the age of the AppalachiansâŚ
They said âbefore dinosaurs,â but we have a cave here that began forming between 450 million to 550 million years ago.
There are no bones in that cave. No fossils. No nothing.
Thatâs because this cave began forming before bones existed on land, and had only just started to exist in the ocean. Shellfish hadnât evolved yet. Limestone, which forms many caves, was just starting to become a more prevalent rock.
The mountains arenât older than dinosaurs. They are older than bones.
see that little lump up at the top of minnesota? the sawtooth mountains? so small most places would just call them hills?
those are over a billion years old.
thatâs why theyâre so small. theyâre the last ancient remnants of a lava flow 5 miles thick. the lava didnât kill any dinosaurs. or any fish. or any animals at all. because there were no animals. you know what there was?
algae.
those mountains were 5 miles tall when the most advanced life on earth was algae.
so iâm just gonna go ahead and keep calling them mountains, even though all you need to climb them is hiking shoes and a nice afternoon. because a place where you can crouch down and touch basalt that was lava before leaves were invented deserves some respect.
The earth is unfathomably ancient, and you garner no love from her when you insult her eldest children.
not only that, the Appalachians predate the Atlantic Ocean and were fragmented. they stretch across three continents, as Atlas in Africa and Caledonians in Europe as you can see here:
the Appalachians are way way old. the fossils that ARE found in these ranges are ancient marine beings, whose fossil remains predate the anatomical structures of beings migrating to land for the first time. THATâS how old the Appalachians are.
show the elders some respect, they have witnessed eons and are returning to the land from which they grew, itâs the kind of the passage of time on a scale that our human lives could not even begin to comprehend.
It's the little things that I miss about playing around a table
The camera person deserved a raise for this.
In DND the players keep finding NPCs with nurological issues and general memory loss and confusion.
They start to look for an answer but the NPCs who are not sick just keep on telling them to go back to the main 'plot' the first 'quest'.
As the players keep searching they find great chuncks of incongruous landscapes and scary half formed monsters. The PCs spells are only effective some of the time with wild magic surges often.
Over time they start to find barriers and blank hexigons. Over time the NPCs start either looping or being honest. The issue is that the players are in an RPG that was killed by a crunch and underpaid coders. The NPCs are suffering. They ask for help. The only way to help is to kill the CEO's 3 self insert NPC's in hopes of summoning the CEO's PC in to the MMO for real. Once the CEO is in the players either weaken the PC who is very OP until the CEO will talk to them or they lead an NPC uprising which seeks to find the source code and upload it to the internet so that modders can help fix the problem and NPCs can roam free.
(just last night thoughts)
Good Omens Season 2 - what we know so far
(I shall update the post as new info emerges)
Source for Season 2:
Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman started planning sequel to the book in 1989 - even before it has been published. But because they careers took off and they had an ocean in the between them, it was never realized it in the 90s. In 2005 they made another plans to write in a year or so but in 2007 Terry was diagnosed with Alzheimer so again the the plans did not come into fruition.Â
Neil is taking what he planned with Terry and is co-writing the second season of the show with John Finnemore, a british comedy writer and actor.
How long has it been in the making:
When was decision to make it made? - in 2010 (!!!) when Terry and Neil agreed to let people go forward with making Good Omens as a TV show, they talked about the shape of the show as a whole and where it would go.
Neil stared plotting it three years ago in 2018, a year before the first season came out.
Cast and crew:
The casting begun 15 months ago (!) - so in March 2020 but it still seems to be in progress - with Suzanne Smith as the casting director :).
Writing: Neil Gaiman and co-writer John Finnemore.
Showrunners: Neil Gaiman and Douglas Mackinnon (who directed and executive produced the first season) are going to co-showrun.
Executive producers: Neil Gaiman, Douglas Mackinnon, Rob Wilkins, John Finnemore and Josh Cole (BBC Studios Productionsâ Head of Comedy).
Music: David G. Arnold, the music composer for S1 is returning.
Actors: The only actors confirmed so far have been David Tennant and Michael Sheen.
Production: BBC Studios Productions, Amazon Studios, Narrativia and The Blank Corporation
!!! There are paid traineeships working on in, more info here.Â
When and where does the filming takes place:
The filming will begin later this year. The entire second season will be shot in Scotland - itâs based in Bathgate and the central belt..
There will be six episodes.
The plot:
From Neilâs blog:Â There are so many questions people have asked about what happened next (and also, what happened before) to our favourite Angel and Demon. Here are, perhaps, some of the answers youâve been hoping for. As Good Omens continues, we will be back in Soho, and all through time and space, solving a mystery which starts with one of the angels wandering through a Soho street market with no memory of who they might be, on their way to Aziraphaleâs bookshop. (Although our story actually begins about five minutes before anyone had got around to saying âLet there be Lightâ.)
From Neilâs instagram:Â Game on! There are mysteries, histories, secrets revealed and Something Too Terrible To Be Revealed on the way. Also a cardboard box.
From the BBC website: The new season will explore storylines that go beyond the original source material to illuminate the uncanny friendship between Aziraphale, a fussy angel and rare book dealer, and the fast-living demon Crowley. Having been on Earth since The Beginning and with the Apocalypse thwarted, Aziraphale and Crowley are getting back to easy living amongst mortals in Londonâs Soho when an unexpected messenger presents a surprising mystery.
Not much info yet, but it seems that after the Flop-Apocalypse Crowley and Aziraphale are back to their nice life amongst the mortals when an amnesiac angel appears in Soho. There will be mysteries and we will again visit the past - even before âLet there be Lightâ (fingers crossed for more Aziraphale and Crowley through history and the angel Crowley :))). There will also be something called âSomething Too Terrible To Be Revealedâ which sounds very ominous and also a cardboard box is important.
Also, the unwritten sequel was supposed to be called â668: The Neighbour of the Beastâ and after the end the boys were supposed to share a cottage in South Downs :).
Promos:
We have a poster:

â2015 and 2018 Liam came through with traumatized emotionally complex bisexual man... expectations are that heâll do the same in the new season.â
âThereâs a lot of directions Marisha could take this season, but I see her having a hard time returning to heterosexuality after last season.â
âAshley had to be pulled in the middle of the season because of her commitments with her job, but she made up for it with strong performances after her return.â
âTravis Willingham surprised a lot of people with the DnD romance at the end of the last season. Heâs always been dependable, but who knows if this means that heâll be stepping more outside of his comfort zone in the next season.â

In the first two gifs, Dariax catches Dorianâs attention and says âHeyâŚ.back to back?â as he points over his shoulder with his thumb. In the second two gifs, Dorian looks off into the distance, mildly exasperated, laughs to himself, grows more serious, and then starts to smile softly. In the last two gifs, he quietly responds âYeah. Back to back - back to back.â End ID.]
