âWaitâ what? Oh, shit.. Sofie, what happened?â
âSomeone killed that kitten I told you about... Nat поŃоПоŃŃиŃŃ ŃĐľŃŃĐžĐ˛Ń Đ˝ĐžĐłĐ¸!â
âDang, canât even ask if itâd be worth my time watching.âÂ
âI suppose so, as long as itâs not in the same way my parents are unsettled. Swore Iâd never end up in that situation. Iâd rather be settled.â
âI know that a lot of people liked, it but I think it was just women who got really in to the idea of itâ
âOh really? Iâm sorry about that... may I ask what kind of situation?â
âWell, now is a perfectly good time. We might need to get a box from somewhere though, I think the only ones in the spa are cardboard.âÂ
âDo you think we could get a metal one somewhere? Or plastic? Like Tupperware but biggerâ
âNever actually seen that, probably should.â
âYeah, still a little odd that I settled down before they did.â
âI havenât eitherâ
âI suppose, but you know, it doesnât mean youâll be settled down forever, there is always room for changeâ
âItâs really no problem, happy to help in any way I can. Whenever you like.âÂ
âI would like to as soon as possible, maybe put him in a little box so the bugs donât get to him...â
âWell no, I wouldnât want to do it all the time, just a bit of fun really. Though  could probably give the girls at Bottoms Up a run for their money.âÂ
âYeah. I mean my parents are still off and about. But theyâll probably both settle down themselves when my dadâs finished with what heâs doing.â
âYou know it would probably be a good source of money though, you could be like Magic Mike or somethingâ
âYeah, I can understand that..â
He nodded as she spoke. âOf course, you need somewhere to lay him to rest, I donât see why not. That sounds nice, yeah of course you can put it there. Consider the place where you bury him as yours, whatever you want there is fine by me.âÂ
âReally? Thank you so much... That really means a lot to me... When can we bury him?â
âI promise Iâll be very gentle,â he said, kneeling down where sheâd moved across a little. As he started to wrap up the cat he made sure to do it as gently as he possibly could. Being gentle was something heâd had to practice when caring for his mother, and he was as gentle with the cat as he had been with her. He listened to her speak. âThereâs some grass around the spa,â he said after a moments thought. âThereâs CCTV, Iâm there most of the time, so I wouldnât let anyone dig him up. And if you wanted to plant flowers, or leave something whenever you liked no one would question it, and Iâd make sure it stayed where it was.âÂ
Sofia watched quietly as he wrapped up her little friend, when he spoke to her about a spa she looked back to him, âReally? You would let me do that? I want to paint him a little head stone, you know? Like just a little flat smooth rock, like the ones you get from a river. I want to paint one for him, could I put that there? With some flowers?â
âYeah, some places in Europe can have a lot less boundaries than here, and well sometimes itâs fun to just be naked.âÂ
âYeah I feel the same way about working in Oscarâs if Iâm honest. I know people think itâs a little weird after Iâve done so much travelling before. But everyoneâs got to have that settle down period, right?âÂ
âMaybe you are in the wrong line of work then, Hunter. Maybe you should go looking for an exotic dancing gig you know?â
âYeah, I completely get that. Itâs nice sometimes to also kind of live a more simple life.â
Edward let go of Ghostâs lead and looked down at him. âGhost, stay,â he commanded. Then he walked over to Sofia. âHey, this is not your fault. Someone kind and caring enough to want to take in a stray is in no way the cause of such a horrid situation.â He put a hand on her shoulder. âI promise this isnât your fault. Would you like me to finish wrapping him for you? You shouldnât have to do that by yourself, and I promise Iâll be gentle with him. Ghost would be more that happy to act as a teddy bear whilst I do.â
Sofia sat quietly before looking up towards him, âOkay, just be really careful please, I donât want him to hurt anymore...â Making room for him to get down she scooted closer to Ghost, glancing between him and the small cat. âI was going to bury him, but I would have to find a place, I just have an apartment, so I donât have a yard...â
âJust the waiting staff, and we;d still have our aprons on. Though Oscar says no one wants to see my pasty white ass, personally I disagree.â
âThatâs nice, nothing could be better than loving where you work.â
âYou canât be serious? You would actually do that? Thatâs crazy...â
âExactly, Itâs a decent living too, I can afford an apartment for myself and live quite comfortably.â
âYeah, Iâm a waiter there, Oscar still wont let me have naked nights. Personally I think theyâd be fun. Betsyâs is a nice place, I love it there.â
âNaked nights?! Oh my, do I even want to know what that is? Doesnât sound very sanitary...â
âi love it too, itâs a lovely place to work for.â
âItâs not your fault,â he told her softly. âYou couldnât have know it was going to happen. And you never know how he would have reacted to being taken in, cats arenât the best in new environments, he might have been in the same place at the same time regardless. And I now thatâs probably not helping in the slightest. Iâm sorryâÂ
âIt is! I was going to take him, I even bought him a little collar and everything. He would always come up to my window from the fire escape and I would let him in and give him some little bits of food and water.. He was so sweet, who would do this to him? He.. He was.. he was all cut up...â
âIâll remember to use it then.â
âNever too late to travel. I work at Oscarâs. What about you?â
âOscarâs? Neat, Iâm a waitress at Betsyâsâ
âIâm so sorry,â Edward apologised tightening his grip on Ghostâs lead. âGhost, heel,â he commanded, and his dog obeyed happily wagging his tale. âHe gets a little over excite sometimes, but heâs gentle. Do you need any help there?â
Sofia sniffled as she continued to wrap the small kittens body, âNo, heâs dead... I... I was going to adopt him, he has been hanging around my apartment block for over a week... I just, I waited too long.. I should have taken him in before, something killed him..â
âOh my god! What are you doing, donât you see? Donât step over there Iâm trying to wrap him up!â
âIâll take your word for it being charming.âÂ
âIt was nice, Iâm glad I did it. But itâs not like you couldnât travel in the future. Itâs nice to meet you, Sofia. Iâm Hunter.âÂ
âI do promise that it is...â
âThatâs good. Very good point. The pleasure is all mine. So Hunter, what do you do around here?â
