Like it literally doesn’t matter if Trump can’t do any of the impossible, illegal things he’s promised. It doesn’t matter, because as soon as a platform built on hate is validated in this way, culture changes. Britain the morning after the Brexit vote was a different place. It wasn’t just the measurable rise in hate crimes and plummeting economy, it was people feeling free to say all the ugliest things they’d ever thought because they knew at least half the country was behind them.

i think the worst part of this for me is the fact that it’s a little more than just disappointment that i feel.

you grow up being taught in classes that half of the things that trump’s advocated for was an old mentality the united states grew out of.

you genuinely believed everyone was equal…but seeing just how many people support trump in the u.s. is such a crushing blow to who you are as a person because it really shows you just how many people are not actually on your side.

it shows you how things really are not any different than they used to be and that you are unwanted in this country now just as your family & ancestors were in the past.
