Some of the greatest of dragons are known to control the weather around them. Whether in wrath or benevolence they stir up mighty storms and floods with ease.

Smalt is not one of those great dragons. Both she and weather are at the whim of her ennui, turning sunny days into overcast, rainy days also into overcast, snowstorms and lightening and rainbows all turned into overcast.

Many have tried to bargain and flatter with her to get her change it to anything else, some even resort to insulting her in hopes to cause at least some sort of change. In the end, Smalt usually ends up just getting asked to leave and make her lair elsewhere.

I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.

Sometimes we’re unsatisfied with a thing we made because when it only existed in our head, we saw all the things it could have been and when it’s done we know all the things that it isn’t, but we can’t see the way it expands into a million new things when someone else unpacks it in their head.
