Correct me if I’m wrong but I feel like the rise of talentless celebrities (influencers) through social media has even worsened the dehumanization of famous people.

You got people blowing up on TikTok and Instagram for being pretty or stupid or exploiting their kids. These are people who would post themselves having explosive diarrhea if it meant a thousand extra likes. These people are actually getting famous to the point where you got bombarded with articles about their personal lives. And the thing is those people WANT that shit. For them the paparazzi is the end goal. They don’t want privacy, they want the fame.

And then you have people like Chappell who have actual talent, a legitimate reason for being famous. For people like her, the fame and the paparazzi is not the end goal. For most celebrities who are famous for being good at something, the being watched 24/7 is a side effect, something they just have to put up with as a result of being insanely good at their profession. It’s completely normal for a human being to get stressed and burned out and discouraged and concerned when that shit goes overboard. Because that wasn’t the main goal!

Some of y’all are talking about “she’s not cut out for fame” and “she doesn’t have what it takes” and “she’s a whiny flop”. BROTHER!!! Ask yourself if it’s absolute necessary for anyone, regardless of fame, to be treated like this. Never mind that they are, but should they be??

I mean geez sorry to all the artists out there with anxiety who put their whole lives into it because apparently you don’t deserve to share your talents with the world if you don’t like being blinded by camera flashes every time you take out the goddamn trash or get a fucking coffee
