{Rei paced back and forth, the warm sun hitting her through the shade of the tree's as she paced. She was anxious, very anxious. It wasn't common for creator's to have people visit their hub much less someone who wasn't also a creator.} "Okay I restocked on medical supplies and sharpened my halberd,JNXWS33T has been informed of the situation just in case and so has Nile...."

[Rei groans running a hand over her face in frustration.]

"Why do I always end up dealing with a god's bullshit."

[Rei stopped her pacing finally glancing around her 'hub', a large forest area where her cottage was. It was quiet and certainly not a easy place for someone to get into without permission, Rei had made sure of that.] "It’s bad enough for gods to bring creators into their own issues but creations? Really? . . .”

[She knew this wasn’t gonna end well, things like this never did but she had to try and minimize the damage in whatever ways she could.]

[Shuffling through her pocket Rei pulled out one of her cards.]

“Alright, time to get this over with.”

[She tossed the card.]

Jayce knew that any second now, Rei would teleport him using the card he held tightly in his hand. Almost like a bit of a comfort to fidget with, calm his nerves.

Talk to Miguel and Viktor beforehand. Check. Give them each a letter in case things go south. Check. Visited mom and be weirdly cryptic and melancholic? Check. Honestly to say he was nervous was an understatement.

This had to go well. He had built a life for himself he actually enjoyed. That's not something he wants to leave behind now, there was still too much to do and experience.

In one hand the card, in the other his Hammer. His knuckles went white from how tight he was gripping the handle. He paced the lab, trying to get a few last minutes of work in, in case, you know-

He had to stop. Stop thinking as if he was certain he wasn't coming back from this. Todo va a salir bien as his mom would tell him.

Fuck. He tripped over some equipment they had left on the lab floor, sending the card flying out his hand onto the floor.

And of course. Of course it starts glowing right this moment, which meant he had about 5 seconds before being teleported. Or, since he wasn't holding the card in this moment he'd stay in this lab like an idiot.

He leaned forward in a panic, frantically trying to get the card back into his hand. As soon as he grabbed it he swung backwards to straighten up again - unfortunately with a bit too much force. This sent him flying backwards, the motion causing his arms and therefore his hammer to lift up in the air.

Mid air he was teleported, promptly landing on the forest floor of Rei's hub. The hammer that was there for his protection fell right onto his left leg, causing the bones to shatter in an instant. That was anything but good.

[Time became irrelevant it had only been a minute and already things were going wrong of course, they always go wrong.]

[Rei heard the scream and was moving without a second thought, throwing the hammer to the side instantly she crouched beside her friend.]

“No no no, come on why’d it have to happen now?”

[White string wrapped around the obliterated leg acting as a very makeshift brace of sorts keeping the leg straight.]

“It’s okay it’s okay I- I’ll fix this it’ll be fine.”

[Rei stood up quickly gathering Jayce up into her arms. She glanced around desperately before darting over to a nearby tree stump helping Jayce sit down so she looked over his leg again debating her options.]

"Fuck.. gods." Jayce winced, throwing his head back against the tree stump. The injury was sebding a stabbing sensation right to his heart and as he clutched his leg, he could feel his hands trembling from the sheer pain.

He was panting heavily as he looked over to Rei, nodding slowly before he squeezed his eyes shut again. "Do.. do anything. Please."

[Rei bite the inside of her cheek cursing under her breath before muttering.]

“God Atropos don’t make me regret this…please.”

[Rei stood up pulling off her overcoat tossing it to the side a previously hidden tattoo on her right shoulder could be seen. Rei shuffled around in her pocket finding a pocket knife, crouching down again she carefully cut off Jayce’s pant leg the strings disappearing when necessary.]

“Alright, Jayce. For what it’s worth, I’m so sorry I have to do this.”

[She didn’t hesitate, didn’t even flinch the knife stabbed into the iris of the tattoo with ease. Old scars littered the area, was this not the first time she had to do this? A pitch black fluid dripped from the wound instead of blood, Rei took a deep breath.]

“Nile- Izzwseu.”

[The name sounds like sharp static in Jayce’s ear, like it was something he shouldn’t hear.]

“I’m putting our deal to work, make it count.”

[Rei pressed her hand down onto Jayce’s leg the black substance coating the leg. It formed a sort of brace before slowly sinking into the leg as the pain subsided, but the panic didn’t somehow it was…enhanced.]

“Alright now, the hates gonna cause your emotions to be sorta out of whack for a bit. Ignore it, focus on me alright? W- we’ll get you to house, it’s not to far. I’ll fix you up proper there…”

Jayce was in too much pain to really realize what Rei was doing. All he wanted was for the pain to stop.

The sharp static or the name spoken made Jayce' ears ring, momentarily distracting from the pain.

As the dark liquid hit him, a warm sensation spread across his leg, momentatily numbing the agony.

For just a moment, he thought it was over. He exhaled, throwing his head back against the stump again, this time in relief. Unfortunately this feeling wasn't meant to last.

First, his racing heart didn't seem to slow down. Then it felt like a shadowed hand wrapped around his throat, promptly choking the air out his lungs. That's when the panic really set in, when that feeling of impending doom overcame him.

"Rei.. what.. what did you do.. what's happening?" He hyperventilated, trying his best to listen to her words as she tried to reassure him.

“Shhhh, deep breaths focus on taking deep breathes for now alright?”

[Rei tried to hide her worry but the fact her hand was shaking (though it was no longer cover in that black substance) as she ran it through Jayce’s hair showed just how worried she was.]

“I- it’s nothing bad I swear. H- honestly be as mad as you like about it after you’ve had a chance to calm down.”

[She was rambling trying to fill the silence so Jayce had something to focus on rather than the hates affects.]

“I had a similar reaction to you the first time I used hate actually. Used it to heal my chest rather than my leg though-“

[Rei forced a small smile onto her face though there was obvious pain behind it.]

{A cabin came into view shortly after, well at least the back of one.}

“Oh! Here we go, my homes just up ahead.”

[Rei picked up the pace until her and Jayce were over at her cabin’s patio, it had a canopy overhead and some rather comfy chairs as Jayce found out once Rei finally put him down. She sat beside him a moment later wrapping an arm around the man to hopefully comfort him.]

“Soo….how’d you end up falling over right before the teleport?”

Jayce complied and did his best to take deep, deep breaths despite it feeling like he's suffocating. Fortunately, it did calm him down ever so slightly. Enough so that he could listen to Rei and follow beside them to the cabin.

When they sat down, Jayce rested his head on Rei's shoulder, closing his eyes. Shit. He needed this to go well. But it already went so wrong, before it all even started.

"Ugh. I was a bit nervous. I walked around the lab, tripped.. that was the moment the card lit up and I panicked a little and.. I don't even know." The frustration in his tone was evident. "I hope the others get here, uh, better."

“I’m sure they’ll get here fine, Old man Viktor can teleport on his own if I remember correctly so it should be fine. Won’t be long till he arrives I’m sure.”

[Rei ran a hand through Jayce’s hair, the substances more…unfortunate effects would be stopping soon as she knew from experience.]

“Sorry for using that stuff on ya. Its healing properties are really close to shimmer so it was the best opinion I could think of. It’s not a drug by the way!! Honestly it’s closer to a virus in some ways.”

"You infected me with a virus?!" He exclaimed and turned his head to Rei, but quickly sighed, his expression softening again. "No it's.. it's fine, I told you to do whatever. It's just.. let's say it's good I know this won't last much longer."

His mind was still racing, though his physical symptoms were starting to dissolve. He looked around the cabin, now finally avle to comprehend his surroundings.

"It's beautiful in here. Calming."

[Rei looked like a puppy who just got caught doing something she shouldn’t though her expression softened when Jayce mentioned her home.]

“You think so? Honestly the place sorta just came together out of necessity. Had to have somewhere to stay once I settled down for a while.”

He held Jayce one last time before he left- the idea that it could very well be the last time threatened to weigh heavy on him, but he shoved the feeling far down where Jayce wouldn't be able to feel them through the bleed-through of their connection. He could spare him that, if nothing else.

He knew Jayce didn't really understand the details of why he had to go. For all Viktor knew, Jayce didn't even understand that he was leaving. Or that he might not come back. That was the hardest part. His only consolation was the knowledge that one thing Jayce did know for sure, was that Viktor loved him.

That had to be enough.

He ventured beyond the tableau to make his exit, part of him unable to do this where Jayce could sense him leaving, and then he gathered his power close around him, feeling his way along the threads of various realities as the Arcane led him where he was needed- and then he stepped through.

It was always a bit jarring, visiting a place still vibrant and alive, and he had to take a moment to collect himself before the fresh air and birdsong and life threatened to overwhelm him.

Once adequately settled, he knocked on the cottage door and waited.

[It didn’t take long for the sound of someone running through the house to be heard before Rei threw open the door.]

“Oh your here! Come on in Jayce was just sitting in the back patio, his arrival wasn’t as pleasant as yours.”

[The creator smiled before pausing realizing she hadn’t even had a proper introduction with this variant of Viktor yet.]

“The names Rei by the way! It’s lovely to meet you, I’ve meet up with your Jayce a couple times now though I don’t expect for him to have mentioned it.”

Jayce eyes anxiously followed Rei as they opened the door. Once again his heart began thumping in his chest. Yes, he was aware who just knocked on the door. Yes he had plenty of time to prepare for this moment. Though no matter how much he tried, it simply couldn't be enough. He was about to meet a variant of Viktor, one in a form he had never expected to see.

Nervously he got up, a bit awkward on his feet but up nonetheless. He straightened up his clothes, ran a hand through his hair and prayed he looked presentable. It was almost an instinct when meeting new people, though something in him cared more than usual. It was Viktor, after all.

Silently he stood behind, giving the man some space to first arrive in this new place.

Viktor tipped his head slightly at Rei as he was let in, unable to keep away the amused little smile that settled on his face when he glimpsed Jayce fussing over his appearance. It was such a small thing, really, but there was an odd comfort in the familiarity. Endearing old habits he hadn't realized he missed.

"I am glad to be of assistance in whatever way I can in this. And hello, Jayce, it is good to see you."

Truth be told, part of him felt awkward as well. It had been.... So long since he'd directly interacted with other people. It was one thing to message and chat but in person? He almost felt out of his depth, but did his best to ignore the feeling.

“It’s nice to have some help from someone familiar with the arcane. Though fights like this are my specialty knowing more about the magic involved would be amazing.”

[Rei smiles glancing between Jayce and Viktor she smirked ruffling Jayce’s hair as she passed by him.]

“You two get comfortable in the living room.”

[Rei motioned towards the room adjacent to the front porch, seems that’s the living room.]

“I’ll go boil the kettle get us all something to drink whilst we talk.”

[Rei turned back around keeping that soft smile. She knew how it can be interacting with others after so long alone, she hoped her calm exterior would help make this less awkward for Viktor.]

“Anything in particular you’d both like? And no Jayce you’re not getting pitch black coffee you psycho.”

"Uh. Fine add some milk or something." Jayce murmured.

And soon after it was only Jayce and Viktor. This was.. more awkward than he had imagined. He cleared his throat.

"So uh, how are you doing?" Internally he wanted to facepalm him. What the hell kind of question was this. They weren't acquaintances that randomly met during grocery shopping. Jayce ran his hand through his hair, trying to avert his gaze from the mage. It was hard to keep his eyes of his features. Just like his Viktor.. just.. older. The beard suited him. The gray streaks...

He looked to the ground quickly, trying not to be an absolute creep.

"I would not mind some tea, if you have it." He called out after, but in truth, his focus was still on Jayce. Caught, like a planet in orbit- no, not a planet, a moon, or a meteor pulled into the atmosphere and destined to burn out in a blaze of inconsequential light.

So little had been said and yet he already felt flayed open in a way he wasn't accustomed to.

"I'm well enough, given the circumstances." He chuckled, unable to help it- how did Jayce manage to be so awkward yet charming? Was it even charm, or was Viktor simply so lost in fondness that it wouldn't have mattered and he'd find himself enraptured no matter what?

He supposed it did not matter. Not when he could see his face again.

"You don't need to be so shy.... I am still just... Me." He finally said, taking pity on the man and, perhaps feeling far bolder than he should... He stepped closer and pulled him into a hug he could easily pull away from if it was too much.

He held Jayce one last time before he left- the idea that it could very well be the last time threatened to weigh heavy on him, but he shoved the feeling far down where Jayce wouldn't be able to feel them through the bleed-through of their connection. He could spare him that, if nothing else.

He knew Jayce didn't really understand the details of why he had to go. For all Viktor knew, Jayce didn't even understand that he was leaving. Or that he might not come back. That was the hardest part. His only consolation was the knowledge that one thing Jayce did know for sure, was that Viktor loved him.

That had to be enough.

He ventured beyond the tableau to make his exit, part of him unable to do this where Jayce could sense him leaving, and then he gathered his power close around him, feeling his way along the threads of various realities as the Arcane led him where he was needed- and then he stepped through.

It was always a bit jarring, visiting a place still vibrant and alive, and he had to take a moment to collect himself before the fresh air and birdsong and life threatened to overwhelm him.

Once adequately settled, he knocked on the cottage door and waited.

[It didn’t take long for the sound of someone running through the house to be heard before Rei threw open the door.]

“Oh your here! Come on in Jayce was just sitting in the back patio, his arrival wasn’t as pleasant as yours.”

[The creator smiled before pausing realizing she hadn’t even had a proper introduction with this variant of Viktor yet.]

“The names Rei by the way! It’s lovely to meet you, I’ve meet up with your Jayce a couple times now though I don’t expect for him to have mentioned it.”

Jayce eyes anxiously followed Rei as they opened the door. Once again his heart began thumping in his chest. Yes, he was aware who just knocked on the door. Yes he had plenty of time to prepare for this moment. Though no matter how much he tried, it simply couldn't be enough. He was about to meet a variant of Viktor, one in a form he had never expected to see.

Nervously he got up, a bit awkward on his feet but up nonetheless. He straightened up his clothes, ran a hand through his hair and prayed he looked presentable. It was almost an instinct when meeting new people, though something in him cared more than usual. It was Viktor, after all.

Silently he stood behind, giving the man some space to first arrive in this new place.

Viktor tipped his head slightly at Rei as he was let in, unable to keep away the amused little smile that settled on his face when he glimpsed Jayce fussing over his appearance. It was such a small thing, really, but there was an odd comfort in the familiarity. Endearing old habits he hadn't realized he missed.

"I am glad to be of assistance in whatever way I can in this. And hello, Jayce, it is good to see you."

Truth be told, part of him felt awkward as well. It had been.... So long since he'd directly interacted with other people. It was one thing to message and chat but in person? He almost felt out of his depth, but did his best to ignore the feeling.
