A new day

How would it be to go outside, walk the streets, see a friend and hug and kiss him/her because you are happy to see them? How would it be to see people’s faces and not only their eyes? And how would it be to just spend a lovely diner with good friends? 

I can still remember how that was, I can still feel it, but sometimes it seems that those memories are just dreams of a past long ago. 

Today everything is different: I will go out, but I won’t hug or kiss any friends. I will hit the streets, but the people I see are nothing more than eyes blinking above a mask and I will have diner tonight, but if I am even sharing that with friends, it will be via a video call. 

If you had told me a year ago that this would be the new normal, I would have told you it was just a bad dream. Nothing like that would ever happen. But here we are, a moment in time in which all of this has become our reality and in which the dream became that of a future in which everything will be normal again. 

How would that be...

To wander without destination. In mind and soul. What else can be more satisfying? I wish to wander, leaving no more than my footprints behind. Going where ever I want to go, exploring whatever I encounter on my journey. For me that is true freedom. No goal, just experience what life throws at me. Breathing in all that there is and bask in the halls of what it means to be human.
