Trying to make a design for her that I like

ATTENTION ALL. I need you kind folks of tumblr to settle a debate between me and my friend.

We are trying to decide if socks are closer to skin or paint.

I say that they are closer to skin, as all clothes function as a sort of second skin, and because some socks are made of animal hair which is like skin.

My friend argues that it is more like paint because you can change it whenever you want and it comes in a variety of colors (beyond all the skin tones ofc).

Please tell me what you think and your reasons (if any)
