When you come up with a good plot idea, but the only person you can imagine involving in the plot is someone you haven’t spoken to in over a year. Fuck my RP life.

Roleplay Thought 147
When you come up with a good plot idea, but the only person you can imagine involving in the plot is someone you haven’t spoken to in over a year. Fuck my RP life.
Roleplay Thought 146
Why is it so hard to get people to respond back to you in the PM system? I just want to know, are we still on board for a particular plot, or should I look elsewhere to get that plot going? I hate being in limbo like this. I'm game if you are, but I'm not game to sit around and guess what you're thinking. TELL ME.
Roleplay Thought 145
If I take the time to read your application, and then write up a review, please take the time to read the damn review. There's a reason I wrote it up for you. There's a reason you were pended. It wasn't done because I was bored and felt like procrastinating on an owed post or something. It was done because there's something not jiving with your application and the site.
Roleplay Thought 144
When you come up with a crazy cool plot based on something random like a scene flashing in your head, or a single phrase you can imagine a character saying, but you have no fucking idea what else you want the plot to be about, or how to start it, and ETERNAL FRUSTRATION.
Roleplay Thought 143
When you send out activity notices to people who haven't logged in, or posted in quite some time, and give them a deadline to get active again or the character will be reopened, and when they fail to meet that deadline (and don't even bother to log back in) you go through the process of removing them from the site and freeing up the character... only to have them show up the next day and ask why their account is gone.
Seriously? If you had been logging in regularly you would have received the PM stating that you were inactive, see the deadline you were given, and then get back to staff on whether or not that was possible. It's not my fault that you didn't do that. I'm not here to hold your hand; I'm here to keep my site active, and I'm sorry that you thought the rules didn't apply to you.
Roleplay Thought 142
As an admin, you come to hate the questions, "can I send you a PM?" More often than not it's someone arguing a point in your canon list, your rules, or your review of their application.
Roleplay Thought 141
Do you ever just get tired of being an admin? Because I'm fucking exhausted. I don't have the time and energy to do everything, and yet I can't seem to find a staff capable enough of handling things while I'm away. I had some issues with my computer and couldn't get on for almost a week, and I come back to find no one has been doing anything in the c-box or on the site. Like, guys, you were hired to fill in so I wouldn't have to be there all the time. Why do I have to shoulder the entire load of the site when you know I'm struggling and need help? WHY THE HELL CAN'T I FIND DECENT STAFF?
Roleplay Thought 140
Having a muse at all the worst times: namely, when you're trying to settle down and go to sleep like a normal person so you can function the next day.
Roleplay Thought 139
So at what point do you write someone off from a site because they've obviously decided that if they can't write with one person they'd rather not write at all? Because obviously every single thread and character has to revolve around this one person and their characters, and there's absolutely no room for anyone else, let alone some fucking development with other characters -- even when the character is majorly connected to other characters. 'Cause it's getting fucking old. If you only want to write with one person, do it on your own time and not on a fucking site where it's kind of necessary to interact with more than just one character, and one roleplayer. MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN RP SITE BUBBLE AND STAY THERE. The rest of us would like to actually see a little growth and development of your character that pertains to the site plot and then some.
I'm just saying.
Roleplay Thought 138
Repeat after me:
you can have more than one roleplay partner
you can have more than one roleplay partner
you can have more than one roleplay partner
YOU CAN HAVE MORE THAN ONE ROLEPLAY PARTNER
That wasn't very hard, was it?
Roleplay Thought 137
Having a million and one plot ideas, but no time to fit them all onto your plate because real life stuff.
Roleplay Thought 136
Requester: i need a roommate bestfriend for my charrie. open face and job and everything, idc. they've been bestfriends forever and share a place together and argue over who drank the last of the milk and didn't chuck out the carton and it'll be great so pls take it. my charrie is part of -insert cast/music group here- so you have to choose someone from the same -cast/group- and it'll be fun!!!!!
...
...
...
Let me tell you something about saying a face claim is "open" and then insisting people pick a face from a small group of individuals.
...
It's kind of not. At all.
Also, I really suck at mocking people with chat speak; the grammatically correct part of my brain absolutely refuses to parrot words and sentences without apostrophes and commas. But you get the gist. DON'T SAY SOMETHING IS OPEN WHEN IT'S REALLY NOT OPEN. At least say "partially" open or "semi" open if you want them to choose out of a select pool of faces, or jobs, or whatever. I mean, really, people.
Roleplay Thought 135
Serial site makers.
You make a site, you invest in it, you lose interest, activity wanes (as it does on all sites, in all of RP Land), you give up. Days later a new site pops up. Similar genre, different genre - that part doesn't matter - the cycle begins again. Maybe this time activity wanes first, and then you lose interest, but it's all the same. You throw in the towel and thrust yourself into a new endeavor until something new captures your interest.
Whhyyy? Whatever happened to sticking it out and making things work? it just seems like so much work to create five different sites in the span of a few months when you could be patient with the one site and see it through until the end. But maybe that's just me, part of the dinosaur era of roleplay where sites weathered the slower periods and developed their characters through thread after thread after thread...
Roleplay Thought 134
Well, no, I don't consider an out-of-character gaming thread as part of your activity. I consider an actual post in-character to be your activity. That's the part that will delve into your character's psyche and further plots. Games... not so much.
Roleplay Thought 133
If you think I don't have a list of email addresses and aliases that you use saved as a reference so I can ban your sorry ass so I don't have to deal with you ever again, you'd be dead wrong. I do, and I did, and this is how it ends. I don't have time for your tantrums and "hurt feelings" when it's the same old shit each and every time. You can take yourself somewhere else and hope it doesn't happen again, but it will, because you bring that negativity onto yourself, and I'm actually grateful that I (and everyone else on the site) won't have to endure it any more.
When other roleplayers constantly apologize for taking two or three days to do a reply, it makes me feel bad because I usually take a week or longer.
Roleplay Thought 132
Just because someone else is currently busy and unable to post doesn't mean you should use that as an excuse not to post as well. Not everyone is busy at the same time, so if you have time and are idling away on the site, but not participating in the c-box, and not posting, you're really not doing the site any favors. If you want the site to thrive, post when you can. If you want to bail ship, just put up a notice saying so and we'll find someone else to play those crucial characters.
I feel like 97% of dead sites could be avoided if people who aren't busy would actually post something, whether it be a new post, a game, a reply they owe someone, or in the c-box.
