i need a week break to take her to the beach and sit with my hands in the sand that i thought i hated but maybe now love because of her.
i need a week break to go camping with him and explore somewhere we’re not supposed to be but step into anyways because its something that brings us closer.
i need a week break to lay down and walk and sit with my daughter and listen to something.
i need a week break.

going home
i fuckin love the 5 minute trip home, i love the quick call and the quicker ketchup-catch-up. tripping over words is easier than tripping over my feet, talking to the ground; talking to myself. i’m avoiding walking into stone bodied strangers, dodging dangers like dogs and lasers, moving through a lively cloud of sound and voice while thinking of good boys.
Stop throwing up at my house.
Don’t throw up in my bathtub.
Don’t eat all my snacks and not buy me more.
Don’t drink all my beer.
Don’t tell me you’ll help me with my homework and then use my house as your personal weed spot.
I am not your maid; your mom; your mother.
It’s inconsiderate to treat me like that.
I can’t date someone with the mentality of a 12 year old. That’s your description, not mine.
I can’t date someone who’s addicted to weed and alcohol. I’ve seen you sober four days out of 60.
Its pathetic.
You’re way more interesting when your brain is normal and functioning.
You’re a mess and I’ve passed the phase in my life where i help anyone that needs it.
You’re your own problem. Not mine.
It’s sad.
I was your friend. We’re back to strangers.
new bolton's got a little bit of something for everyone, but not for too long. it's a place to start or end a journey, but not to settle.
old buildings go up as new ones come down, creating a tetris like city of vibrant colors and jagged alleyways. decorated in flags and banners and ribbons and lights, city blocks tumble down one large hill, navigating the place is a good workout for eager tourists.
restaurants and bars, hotels, bookstores, thrift shops, outlet stores and coffee shops. rooftop gardens litter the skyline. banners and string lights stretch between 10th story apartments and offices.
but new bolton isn't a place you'd want to stay in more than a few months- it could be compared to a fly trap, a black hole for alcoholism and sadness. commercialism has taken over and the beautiful history of the city has become a gimmic.
new bolton police will ticket your car and maintain the nicer areas, but when it comes to the slums, well they don't give a shit, that's not bringing in money.
the nicer homes have this sad sort of vacancy; they're maintained, furnished, well kept. but they're empty, hollow and lonely. past 11, no one walks the streets. past 11, nothing is open. past 11, bolton is dead.
it's a cardboard town, beautiful but desolate. visually stunning; emotionally barren; there's nothing behind the walls.

Sunshine and Socks
Sometimes I feel like sunshine and sometimes I feel like a pair of yellow socks and sad disco.
Sometimes I hit up Ari and we hang out and smoke and talk about art and music and feelings and other junk. Sometimes I hit her up and she’s a ball of anxiety and I try to help her out but it’s something she has to cope with on her own.
Sous and I lived together in Savannah, Georgia for a couple months and it wasn’t heavenly but it was comfortable and she was my home. I miss her mannerisms and quirks and the way she said drawing like “drawr-ing” in a New England kind of way.
Katie is ethereal to me; she’s got a really elegant way about her. She has an angry exterior, resting bitch face- but it’s pretty. I used to think “she thinks I’m an idiot.” And then I stopped caring what people think, to some extent, and I kept doing stupid things near her and sometimes she laughed. Her laugh was fulfilling and genuine.
Sometimes I feel like sunshine and sometimes I feel like maroon socks and sadboi lo-fi.
Robert went through my photos for me and deleted pictures of some person I didn’t want to see. Before that he had called a funeral home for me because I couldn’t do it, he passed on some information to me that I couldn’t bring myself to look for.
Kale is a sweet bread, keeping me in mind and working hard every day without a single complaint. Some saturday’s I see him and we drink and talk about music and love, but it’s been a while.
Avery sends me pictures of corgis and my cat and spams me with dumb videos on instagram. We have different morals and interests but we’re twins in humor.
Bike-boy-Alex came to my apartment in the middle of the night, through humidity and clouds in an April in Savannah Georgia because I was upset about some ants and I thought my art was trash.
Chris Honey says ‘hello’ every day and reminds me that me he loves me and cares about me. I only met him once but his eyes were like black holes and his caring manner was hard to compare to anyone else.
Jeff Jr. helped me move three times, by the end of this week it’ll be four. He’s got my back even when I make his life harder than it needs to be. Once in a while we take a ski trip or shoot some targets together and talk about school and life.
Meg’s always there, sending me articles and looking for input. Sharing thoughts and engaging in conversation like an extrovert, bubbly and excited to articulate her feelings and opinions.
Happiness is something that comes and goes in the form of a cloud passing in front of the sun. It can change by the minute or the day or the week but beyond those bitch clouds is a ball of fire far beyond our insignificant sky that’s providing warmth for life so that humanity can carry on searching for meaning. Being existential or nihilistic or self centered or selfless.
Love is something that fluctuates but mostly doesn’t go anywhere. It’s a bees nest that everyone has under their front porch. It sits quietly. Sometimes there are only a few bees and sometimes there are swarms. But there are always bees and there are always people that want to see you going on well.
Sometimes I’m sunshine and sometimes I’m not, but I’ve always got bees.
im gonna scream. no im not. im gonna cry. no im not. im fine. fuck.
They're just bitches, treat them as such.
I'm so sorry I'm so far from you and I can't scratch your back.
Picking up the phone and hearing my sister sob directly into my ears is the most heart wrenching thing I've heard in a long time.
Listening to her describe a heartbreak that's so out of the blue and unexpected, from the first person she's ever loved.
Wishing I could hug her and scratch her back but knowing I can't get to her.
I wrecked the car and I can't make the three hour drive- it makes me feel like a shitty, lazy sister. Like I don’t care enough to make it happen.
Having to hang up because I have class in a minute while she's alone in her dorm sobbing, squeezing a stuffed bear named Pompa she's had since we were infants.
Saying I'll call her after this for a few minutes, her response is a tear filled "okay."
Telling her to give Pompa a kiss for me, her response is a whine of an "I will."
Saying "I love you." her response is a stifled cry and a quietly choked out "I love you too."
I say “Bye.”
she hangs up.
I know she's on the other side of a disconnected line clutching and sobbing into the bear; curled up on a bed in a room far away from any comfort I can give.
I know you need someone but it cant be me this time. I'm sorry I'm not there for you.
She takes really good care of me.
She makes sure I’m fed and that I have a place to sleep, a person to confide in.
She’s not the kind of person to be on top of all her appointments or to clean for the sake of having a clean house. She’s the kind of person that values feeling, emotion, love, and empathy, over a big income and a nice car.
She prides herself in her children and her garden and her passion for helping people.
She’s an angel, even when she fucks up. She’s a sweetheart, even when she’s angry. She’s always gonna be there for me, even after she’s long gone.
She will always be my home.
You can't really fuck up mozzarella... I think.
