Sims 2 cheats I use on a regular basis
This is mostly for me to use as a reference, but if it helps anyone else, awesome.
Sims 2 cheats:
Free move cheat: boolprop snapobjectstogrid false
Flatten terrain: modifyneighborhoodterrain on[]
Use your mouse to left click, hold, then drag to include the area you want to flatten. Start by placing the mouse in the area that is the height you want.
Once you have selected the area you want to adjust, then:
[ - raises terrain
] - lowers terrain
P - levels terrain
\ - flattens terrain
Off grid cheats:
The grid toggles with the following commands typed into the Cheat Box:
To turn it on --> boolProp snapObjectsToGrid true (=grid on, normal gameplay state, doors and windows work)
To turn it off -> boolProp snapObjectsToGrid false (= grid off, you can move some objects off-grid.)
This cheat is useful for things like placing columns closer to (or in) fences and walls. It will not interfere with your game, and objects that have once been shifted off the grid will not slip back to their old positions if you experiment with this cheat.
Quartergrid
setQuarterTilePlacement on turn it off with setQuarterTilePlacementoff After entering this cheat you can turn quarter tile placement on and off using “Ctrl + F” anytime you are in Build or Buy Mode.
Quarter Tile Placement allows you to place objects offset from the grid in quarter tile increments.
Note that some objects may become unusable or inaccessible for Sims if placed off the grid, so the use of this cheat is not recommended for anything other than decorative objects.
ctrl + F will give you quarter tiles. Then use the < and > to rotate
Folks! I found the workaround! It was hidden in the patch notes:
1) Press ctrl+shift+c to open the cheat input bar
2) Type in "uintProp uiScaleFactor" followed by a space and then the number 1, 2, or 3.
The game defaults at 2. 1 is the highest resolution, and 3 is a 1280x800 resolution. You can also make the game open this "persistantly" by going to the “Graphics Rules.sgr” file. The pathing they suggest if you downloaded from EA proper is “The Sims 2 Legacy Collection\EP9\TSData\Res\Config" and they mention as a note in the note that the file location may change depending on which storefront you purchased the game from.
Money Cheats
"kaching” — Gives the household 1,000 Simoleons
“motherlode” — Gives the household 50,000 Simoleons
“familyFunds [last name]” [#] — Changes the household funds to whatever number you input
To build a restaurant you need the following: -the commercial (two-tile) stove -at least one counter with a sink -at least one free counter -a host podium -at least one "island" counter plus barstool OR at least one table+chair
To build a bar, you need the following: -the bar itself -at least one "island" counter and barstool
These two can be combined.
Resturants/Bars
For unowned business lots, the game will automatically spawn a cook for the stove, a host for the podium, and one or more servers. Likewise for a bar the bartender will be spawned.
On owned business lots, you MUST hire the above personnel (one cook per stove, one host, one or more waiters; for a bar one bartender). Your Sim can take one of these rôles himself. You can decide your custom menu through the host podium. By default all food is allowed.
Oh, and of course you need an open/close sign to run your business lot. If you plan to check in on the place from home, also place a normal phone somewhere.
Non-essentials but recommended are a bathroom (optionally male/female), an employee rest room, an expressostand, and a dartboard or other game.
Enter the Lot: Load the residential lot you want to convert.
Open the Cheat Console: Press Ctrl + Shift + C simultaneously. A text box will appear at the top of the screen.
Type the Cheat: Enter changelotzoning community (case-insensitive) into the cheat box and press Enter.
Confirmation: You should see a message confirming that the lot zoning has changed.
Exit and Reload: This is crucial! Exit the lot back to the neighborhood view. Then, reload the same lot. This forces the game to properly register the change.
or for residential
Use the cheat changelotzoning residential
To create apartments, you need to use the changelotzoning apartmentbase cheat (available with the Apartment Life expansion pack) on a residential lot.
