"Plato's Idea" or the soulmateism of it all
"What could possibly go wrong?"

It's dangerous 'cause I want it all And I don't think I care what it costs I just can't let you go
Audrey x Siegfried: words are futile devices
[ID: Set of little partial poses of Audrey Hall and Siegfried Farnon from 2020 All creatures Great and Small. There are hints of blues, reds and yellows in the art, but subdued and mostly in greyscale. Top left is a close up of them with their foreheads touching, both looking emotional, and Audrey's hands on Siegfried's cheeks. Top right is Audrey with one hand on Siegfried's chest, the other on his back, and her looking worriedly at him, while he has his hands together in a nervous way, is dishevelled and has blood on his face. Middle left, they are dancing, Audrey's face in view and her laughing, while Siegried's back is to the viewer. Middle right is a close up with strong light and dark of Siegfried, his body side on and his head turned slightly as he looks sadly down to the side. Bottom left is a moment from the season 6 finale, where Audrey turns to look at Siegfried, smiling at him as he watches the beacon Tris has just lit (and he's wearing his grey hat, which I love and spent maybe too long trying to get to look tweedy). Bottom right is a close up of Audrey with strong shadow and dark, her hair and clothes almost black, but her face illuminated with strong light behind, and a smile on her features. End ID]

THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (1991)
"Doctor Lecter told me he thought Starling might have too much nerve for her own good, an 'excess of zeal,' he called it. He thought she might work too close to the edge if she thought her assignment required it."
Hannibal (1999) by Thomas Harris

“Should I expect the authorities at your door?” Hannibal asked, breaking the silence.
“No. I’m not entirely convinced it would make a difference. But I want you to leave, Hannibal. I don’t care where you go. What choices you make, who you become. But I do not want to be a part of it.”
“If that is what you wish,” Hannibal replied evenly, the smallest tilt of his head drawing her attention. “But tell me, Bedelia, have you felt a longing in my absence? Certainly our arrangement was unorthodox, but you were my wife. By name, if not by law.”
Again, her mouth ran dry. Had she loved him? It was hard to say. To admit. She had loved him the way an animal loves to kill; not out of passion but out of survival. As though it was a natural law, and to do anything otherwise would be unheard of. She had no choice but to love him.
She hated him. Despised him for how he had warped her, unleashed something she could not consciously control.
“I would like you to leave, Hannibal.”
He paused for a breath, and lowered his head briefly. He was many things, but never impolite.
“As you wish,” said he, before taking several steps towards her. “Before I leave, allow me this.”
With that, he took her face in his palm and pressed a kiss to her lips. She felt as though she was drowning on dry land, her lungs failing her for the briefest moment. It was not romantic. She did not melt into him, nor did her knees grow weak. Yet she did not draw back. How could she? No amount of self flagellation could pull her from him. No repentance could cleanse her. No amount of cuts to her skin would bleed him out. She would, as ever, fall back to him.
