yelena had quickly picked up on how to tell when someone was freshly awoken from the cryofreeze - the disorientation, mild to high panic depending on the person, and usually some level of annoyance. still, as her eyes landed on someone portraying the usual symptoms, she gave them a few moments as they seemed to sort it out. she wasnât exactly the best welcome party anyway. when addressed, her shoulders moved in a shrug. âeveryone has kitchens in their apartments on the ship, you could make some there, but there are shops too on board.â she mused before leaning back on the wall behind her. âweâre docked at a planet right now, lots of markets but i donât think i trust most of their food - and i say that as a russian - we donât have weak stomachs. but that is why itâs so quiet on board, most are out exploring the planet.â
The woman wasnât a normal welcome party, but that put them much more at ease than the mess that comes with trying to escape from your own welcome party. Tried that once, the party was ever so dull, and the escape didnât go down very well. Â Escaping from Stormcage is looked down on enough without the added insult to injury. Anyway, new ship, new opportunities. Corridors are always great to walk through. And, now that I think about it, a possible new ally to help while they try to work out exactly where âhereâ is.
âI can stomach pretty much anything, but if I get given the choice then. Any chance I can buy you coffee in return for showing me where the best shop for it is? River, by the way.â
â you know, when i was a young girl in the red room, i had a very wonderful friend who would bring me back candies and such from around the world when theyâd be deployed on a mission. â natasha offers a slight smile to the other standing next to her.  â but now that iâm faced with all these treats, i find that i canât bring myself to decide!  whatâs your favorite? â
Sweets drew River in like nothing else. The 1960s had awful sweets on the occasions they could steal them, and her parents were the first to truly show her quite how good they could be. Bless the time vortex for stopping it from decaying their teeth. Theyâre still considering how they want to do this, when the person next to her speaks. Momentarily dropping her shields and making their eyes betray her age, âOh, I remember that stage.â She smirks, mischief shining through her face. âThe simple answer is just to get all of them.â
đȘ - âand who says âchivalry is deadâ anyway?â leia retorted, barely holding back a laugh mired with irritation as some big brute had lifted her and moved her out of the way of a nastily injured fighter. how she managed to make it back to the brawlerâs club was⊠something only leia could have done - but if she was being honest, sheâd admit that the intrusive thoughts won and she was curious. and if she had to fight, so be it. still, being manhandled by what looked like a giant rock creature was less than desirable and she almost stood to challenge him. only pausing when she noticed another cambria voyager. âhey, you - â she called out, waving a hand over, âyou accidentally come over here too?â
Sheâd not been on the planet long before sheâd found the brawlers club. Sheâd loved them as Mels, and âhonestly, itâs not like everyone else going there isnât looking for the same thing.â. They resisted going for a little while, but eventually the stress of loosing all her normal weapons made them desperate for a fight. Sheâd only just walked in when another voyagerâs words paused her. âOh, no, I was actually here to try and get some energy out by fighting overconfident men twice my size. They get so confident and then sulk when they loose.â
@thecambriastartersâ ( DOLORES ABERNATHY & OPEN )
it was late - or at least, it was late according to the ships clock used to help regulate most people into some sort of sleeping schedule. she didnât really need it - though capable of every normal human function including sleep, her body didnât require it. instead, most nights she found herself in the observation deck, usually long after itâd been cleared out from people. yet tonight, while she sat and quietly peered out at the stars around them through the large windows, her attention was pulled away at the sound of steps echoing in the otherwise empty room. âis someone else there?â she called out cautiously, not really fearing for herself but unable to shake the natural distrust she felt for most. softening her tone slightly, she continued. âapologies, i donât usually find anyone else here around this time.â
Riverâs never needed as much sleep as normal humans, and no matter whether thatâs from the conception in the time vortex, the hybrid genes, or a side effect of the Silence, itâs useful. Spending the time creating a mental map of the ship, theyâre mostly in their own world until she ends up at the observation desk. With no need for the absolute stranger to know her secrets, âI still havenât swapped my schedule to the ship, unfortunately, so Iâm too awake to sleep.â Noticing that the woman had been staring out of the window, River walks towards her and stares out too. âIâve seen a lot of space, but isnât it peaceful to watch.â
SAM WINCHESTER + RIVER SONG. ( @songofthecambriaâ )  location: forest of einpul.
heâs been wandering for an unfortunate amount of time and sam thinks he can almost hear his brother chirping at him. donât go into the woods sammy, the woods are dangerous. he scoffs at himself. using his communicator as a light source, he pushes on through the forest, eyes trying desperately to adjust. sam hears a noise somewhere near him and stiffens.  â hey! i donât know whoâs out there but iâve got like ⊠alot of weapons and iâm really scary so you shouldnât bother! â Â
The forests on different worlds generally created different trees, and they canât be held responsible for going and searching for new species sheâs never seen before. Holding a bag full of leaves and twigs, she snaps a branch in half to fit when she hears a voice warning her. âI can promise you I donât care how scary you are, but you donât sound like someone whoâs going to actually harm me for walking.â Walking around much gentler to avoid more noise while grabbing the thickest stick out of her bag, she adds, âIâm River Song, and Iâm here with one of the ships that have come in.â
Nobody enjoys waking from cryo-freeze, thinks River, but at least they donât get split in half on the way out. Time lord and human genes are only just different enough to make them groggy for hours afterwards. She stretches out fully, scanning, desperately trying to remember what happened.
Alone. For now, at least. No Silence, no Madame Kovarian, no anybody. Walking around the room slowly, the events that lead them here slowly come back to her, allowing her shoulders to drop and their eyes to stop darting around the room.
A small sound comes from the other end of a corridor - something humanoid enough that even if this is a trick, fighting humans is generally easier than something you canât remember. âHello? Is there anywhere I could get a coffee from?â

a deeper look;
BACKGROUND: Luna University may have accepted her as a professor despite her interesting history, but it doesnât make the solid rules and requirements easier for River to live with. Having just published a new paper on the Ood and the Space Spheres and a with a little time to spare before the âfield tripâ to the Lux Foundation library (or a newly stolen vortex manipulator to create said time), she went looking for a new adventure, and theyâd heard a little about a hologram invite that doesnât actually care what answer you give it before it makes you disappear. It took her about a year or three of searching places people had left from before they got her invite while avoiding seeing future spoilers, but sheâs in desperate need of an adventure and to discover what is happening on the ship (and where interesting things may be on a future archaeological dig).

the questionnaire;
How does your character feel about being dropped into the Cambria program? Are they excited? Suspicious? Confused?Â
Sheâs excited, for sure, at the idea of a new adventure and they can never truly resist a good mystery, but she knows her diary is very full now. Sheâs looking forward to working at a new university in a new environment too, since many of the universities sheâd like to work out wouldnât hire someone whoâs been to Stormcage, even pardoned.
What does your character hope to see the most during the Cambria oneâs journey?Â
Oh, theyâre not picky, something fun, something sparkly, and something worth her spending their time on it. Bonus points if theyâre all the same thing. Or equivalent points if itâs something worth writing a paper on, they suppose.
If your character could bring one thing or person from home, what would it be?
Their vortex manipulator â they donât much enjoy taking the long, linear way of dealing with time, and having to walk around the ship constantly is almost as bad. Her lipstick is a close second, though. The Doctor would be more useful than any of it.
