Maker: Cecile Choi
Inspiration: Matisse’s Goldfish
Come take Cecile’s class in May on turning painting into a quilt. (In Person only).
Another two fabric quilt on the go. This one may end up being for me because I love both of these fabrics. I ended up buying about six or so meters each of them with no plans because I like them so much.
I’m gonna do nine patches and bordered squares and put them on point.
I saw a photo of something similar in creams and reds a long time ago and took a screen shot of it, and saw it while I was scrolling through my ‘Quilts to Make’ file. Decided to pull these out and give it a go.
No idea what size it’ll end up, but if I stick to 6x7 blocks with a border it should end up about 64”x72” I think. Which is a nice throw size to cuddle on the couch with.
Of course…
If I really like it after I lay it out, I may have to make more blocks and make it big enough for my bed.
Oooh that’s pretty.
Not enough to make bigger, I think more contrast between the two fabrics would look even better, but this will make a lovely couch quilt!
She ended up 70”x85”, which is a pretty nice twin if a bit short, but it would also layout on a queen with little overhang if someone was looking for a display kind of quilt.
I have a dark teal cotton in mind for backing and Robin’s Egg blue for the quilting thread, which is basically the same colour as the light blue fabric.
Haven’t decided on whether to use the space fabric for the binding or the backing fabric for binding. Either would work.

night bug. not my pattern but i improv'd some tweaks to have more uninterrupted areas of plaid / correct direction of pattern on legs. & i am making cushions to sit on so i didn't fuss about matching points too much (butts cannot see)
fabulous creature?
oh i miss them dearly
Last week at the local thrift store I found a set of 4 Hilda glasses! ($10 for all 4)
There's a slight chip on the rim of the water pump one but these are gonna be displayed, not actually used.

I REMEMBER BEING ALIVE
I figured the goldfish deserved their own post! I love having a big everyday bag but it is nice to have the option of something smaller when the occasion calls for it.
The top two of these are still available in my shop in case you too need a fish bag in your life!
An onigiri drawstring backpack! The nori is open at the top so it has two little pockets
I was inspired to make this because I saw this post by @mxtr3ssquickly about the crochet onigiri bag they made (with instructions!) and I did not have time any time soon to crochet one but I had the perfect rice fabric!
Well everyone... Here's the next fish plush!
It's an Oranda Goldfish! Of course, it is not 100% biologically accurate-- I have taken creative liberties to make him work well as a plushie :)
I've been working on getting this design perfected to my liking with my manufacturer for months, and I'm so happy to get to share it now! He's very chubby and squishy IRL, and the scruffy head is absolutely adorable IMO!
If you're' interested in getting one, please fill in the interest check form linked below! Even if it's just a "maybe" I'd really appreciate hearing from you :)
