❝ … To have the peoples’ problems taken seriously by
those meant to protect them would be good start. ❞
Scarlet stares up at the prince, searching for even a hint of empathy. Despite his deceptively warm smile, his words were callous… Ignorant. Her eyes narrow and, against her better judgement, her voice began to slowly but surely rise in fury.
❝ Tantrums? Disobedient children? Do you really
have no idea of what we’re fighting for? The poor
have little to no money to speak of with how much
you tax them; whole families are starving because
you need money for weapons and armor. Boys and
girls barely out in adolescence are being dragged
off to fight. This morning my company buried a boy
of thirteen years old. He died in your war. So many
die in your war. And for what?! Garon’s pride? His
greed? Are we supposed to just sit idly by while
our families die for nothing?! ❞
Scarlet was practically roaring by the end of her tirade, amber eyes flashing with rage and cheeks wet with unbidden tears. Her composure was utterly decimated, but she could hardly bring herself to care. Not while he stood there, demeaning and smiling in the face of their peoples’ pain.
”Oh bella, but don’t you know?”
“Nohr is a D Y I N G country.
There is no light, warmth nor LIFE in these lands --
There are only 2 things we can do to remedy such a
curse. One, hope against hope we survive another year.
Two, do our part in ensuring the survival of our nation.”
”I call you disobedient children throwing tantrums
because you are thinking selfishly of only yourselves.
CHEVE is a piece in the grand scheme of Nohr’s annual
attempt to get out alive. However...if one fails at their part
we are all going to die. “
“We fight for lands -- for our future. We tax so we
can feed. Can you see it now, bella? My father is
doing this all for you. And this is how you repay him.”
{ the smile on his lips disappears and he gives
her a shrug -- casting her aside as if she was a
lost cause. Then again, he thinks, whether
she repents or not, she would be a lost cause
when his father decides to deal with her. }
“Oh...and you wonder why i call you disobedient children.”
