Samandriel managed to pull himself away from the crowd just as his brother ran over. Looking up at his brother, relief washed over his features. He didn’t know how it was possible, but it didn’t matter. He found one sibling out of many. That’s all that mattered.
"Don’t apologize, Michael. If you hadn’t called my name, I may have missed your presence entirely," he admitted as a smile tugged on the corners of his lips.
His smile slowly faded though; he didn’t have the heart to tell him.
A pause.
"—Yes. I have Fallen, Michael. My Grace was already weak before the Fall, but now I can barely feel it. I feel myself growing more and more human with each passing day."
"I’m frightened. All of Heaven has Fallen."
So it was settled – Michael’s Grace was practically nonexistent.
In a way, he was relieved. At least he knew he was nothing less than his distraught siblings – but at the same time, simultaneous to the craving for their absent Father’s attention, Michael felt a tinge of disappointment.
Still, he might as well be grateful. He knew there were others out there (ie, Castiel) who were currently enduring worse.
Before him stood Samandriel, an angel he hadn’t quite gotten to know as well as he’d have liked. The fighting interrupted a number of things – whereas Michael was keen on raising the majority of his siblings (or at least, as many as a busy archangel like himself could manage at one time) … work got in the way.
Work which he now realized was unnecessary.
The look in Samandriel’s eyes as his caught upon Michael’s was heartbreaking – he looked lost. Confused. Frightened. Just as Michael felt currently – and he’d supposed the remainder of his siblings inevitably felt the same.
‘’My dear brother,’’ He murmured, wishing to comfort. He hadn’t quite grasped the art of human expressions, and so he refrained from attempting a smile. He didn’t suppose a smile was necessary for the moment regardless. But… that was what humans did during heartfelt moments, right? Smiled?
‘’I apologize for your troubles… I doubt any of our siblings are lacking the same,’’ He spoke in a soft voice, seeking only to comfort. ‘’I’ve been searching for days, Samandriel, and you are the only one I have managed to find. I assure you, fear is not necessary, for I refuse to leave you in a time of such need,’’ He assured, nodding his head lightly. His hand remained upon Samandriel’s shoulder.
It was then that he truly realized how awful he’d been at being the older brother… He decided then that it was time to mend things.
