If one more pharmacist...
asks me if I want both hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone, I'm going to explode.
Yes, I want the medications prescribed to me.
Yes, you've been filling them for me for 9 months.
Yes, they are different drugs.
And of course, I will explain to you one more time my diagnosis and why I need this stuff.
Cuz who am I kidding? I'll do whatever is necessary to stay alive.
I think I’m going to start cataloguing all the strange things I look up in the course of my work, pleasure and strange obsessions.
Healthcare Blows
Ugh, I just need somewhere to complain. EmblemHealth cancelled my automatic payments which I have in place since I’ve had trouble with healthcare companies receiving my payments before.
I mean, these bureaucracies are so inept that I've had to send claims over in a certified mail bundle...but that didn’t work, so they asked me to send each individual claim by certified mail. And then that didn’t work...
I digress. EmblemHealth cancelled my auto-pay. The online portal wouldn’t allow me to pay - the option was just missing. Called them up, and they reissued me a new ID and account.
Which is super fantastic because I’ve already seen my psychiatrist, therapist and received medication this year...all of which are on the wrong ID #. Fantastic.
You want some real legitimate advice about mental health? Stop being mean to yourself.
Like, when you wanna say mean shit about yourself either internally or externally, work to learn how to step back a moment and remind yourself that what you are doing is a form of self-harm and not a fair or legitimate judgement on you as a person, and furthermore is not productive to your survival or well-being.
Even if you fuck something up, you can resolve to do better in the future, you can tell yourself that you’re going to make this a learning experience, and even if you’ve made the same mistake 50 times already, telling yourself you’ll get it right someday if you just keep trying will always do you better than calling yourself an idiot and beating yourself up for not being able to get it right.
Take it from me, a lot of mental health shit is a product of your environment and personal history, and therefore you really don’t have the control over it that you need to get by without others’ help, but one thing you can have some control over is whether you’re going to be a friend to yourself or just another enemy, and if you want to survive, you’ve gotta strive to be in your own corner as best you can.
Fika is the Swedish tradition of having coffee, cake, and a chat. It’s such an integral part of the culture that many businesses have fika twice a day, and sometimes it’s mandatory. Source Source 2

germany: yeah we have something similar called “Kaffee und Kuchen” :)
america: i work 16 hours per day at minimum wage and get a 7 minute unpaid lunch break, and instead of “fika” i have “suffering” and “death”

the pharmacist who you see every month: ummm we don’t have this lol? come back in 5 days. and take this prescription with you it is tainted and you take a Bad Drug and we are Suspicious of you
also doctors: hmmm yeah i don’t think you need this anymore because it’s working so well you don’t have the symptoms anymore so go ahead and stop taking it suddenly

My life every month.
I tend to Tumblr when I’m upset, and it serves an important function. But I do want to remember the fun times.
They’re redoing the lobby of my building, which basically means they’re painting things white or black. Mocha and I just returned from a walk, and I had to crawl on my hands and knees under some scaffolding, hitting my head a few times.
Mocha thought this was great fun and started jumping over my back again and again. By the time we made it to the other side (all of 60 seconds), I was laughing to tears.
I’m so lucky to have her.
