A black cat, in theory, should retain its midnight shade for the rest of its life. So, imagine the surprise that a man named David had when Scrappy, his beloved furry friend, started seeing spots.
As the cat turned seven years old, his fur began sprouting white patches among his previously all-dark coat. This phenomena was most likely due to vitiligo, a rare skin condition that causes this brilliant marbling in feline fur. Despite the scary-sounding diagnosis, however, Scrappy remains a happy and healthy senior cat. (Source)
What is sleep paralysis?
a phenomenon in which a person, either falling asleep or awakening, temporarily experiences an inability to move, speak or react. It is a transitional state between wakefulness and sleep, characterized by complete muscle atonia (muscle weakness). It is often accompanied by terrifying hallucinations (such as an intruder in the room).
Why do you see the things youâre seeing?
Not all people hallucinate or see scary images while in sleep paralysis, but for those who do, it is quite a terrifying experiences. A lot of theories go that while in sleep paralysis, your accompanied by incubus or succubus (demons that pin you down in your sleep, or engage in sexual acts with you) but really, thereâs no explanation to why people see scary things while in sleep paralysis. Researches say, when the person who experiences sleep paralysis and has scary hallucinations, also believing in the paranormal, have a more uncomfortable time and very distressed, than those who donât believe in it at all. Even though, seeing a demon sitting upon your chest can be pretty terrifying to most people regardless of believing in supernatural phenomenon or not.
Can you stop sleep paralysis?
Thereâs no complete way to stop Sleep paralysis entirely forever, but for the people who experience it almost every night, can lessen their experiences one by one.
âąRecognize your symptoms: Be aware of the symptoms you have with sleep paralysis. That being the feeling of fear, breathlessness, inability to move trunk or limbs of the body, etc.
âąFocus on body movement: When having sleep paralysis, almost immediately youâll want to convulse manically because youâre paralyzed. Try moving one thing at a time. Like wiggling your toes, moving your tongue, and fingers.
âąFocus on eye movement: Your ability to move your eyes isnât normally hindered by sleep paralysis. Some people recommend rapidly moving your eyes to break the paralyzed state.
âą Focus on breathing: Most people feel breathlessness occur with sleep paralysis, so going into breathing techniques is a wonderful relaxation tool while having an episode. (ex. Breathing slowly through your nose and out your mouth)
Sleep paralysis is terrifying shit, this is fact.
I've had a few incidences where I've even seen a shadow person. It seemed curious more than anything. The fact that I couldn't move was the scary part.

Ain't that the truth.
Circus Tree: Six individual sycamore trees were shaped, bent, and braided to form this.
Actually pretty easy. Trees donât reject tissue from other trees in the same family. You bend the tree to another tree when it is a sapling, scrape off the bark on both trees where they touch, add some damp sphagnum moss around them to keep everything slightly moist and bind them together. Then wait a few years- The trees will have grown together. You can use a similar technique to graft a lemon branch or a lime branch or even both- onto an orange tree and have one tree that has all three fruits. Frankentrees.
As a biologist I can clearly state that plants are fucking weird and you should probably be slightly afraid of them.
On that note! At the university (UBC) located in town, the Agriculture students were told by their teacher that a tree flipped upside down would die. So they took an excavator and flipped the tree upside down. And itâs still growing. But the branches are now the roots, and the roots are now these super gnarly looking branches. Be afraid.
But Vi, how can you mention that and NOT post a picture? D:

I am both amazed and horrified of nature as we all should be
I love how trees are like âfuck it, Iâll dealâ at literally everything. Forest fire? Cool, my seedsâll finally grow. Upside down? Branches, suck, roots, leave. Whatâs this new branch? Eh, welcome to the tree buddy.
I need to be more like tree
I continue to fear and respect out arboreal overlords.
what kind of professor did these students have that they needed to prove him wrong so badly that they literally dug up a tree, flipped it and put it back in the ground?
