Always fail at talking to liberal christians because they’re like “no you don’t get it, I don’t think gay people should automatically go to hell” and I’m like. No I get it it’s just not a matter of quibbling about who does and does not go to hell because. I’m gonna be real with you here chief. I don’t think anyone should go to hell. Yes even that person. Yes even that one. I simply don’t think anyone should be tortured forever. Do you have any idea how long forever is?
LITERALLY THAT'S IT
a weird thing i just realized: evangelicals taught us that it was the Massive Problem to not be able to easily and succinctly verbalize the Meaning Of Life when put on the spot by random strangers
like, we would stop people on the streets and be like, "hey, what do you think is the meaning of life?" and if they couldn't give a nice answer, we'd be like, "wow, it's so tragic how non-believers have no meaning in life :("
if you feel like you have a meaning in life, good for you.
on the whole, though --
the meaning of life is not something we need to know. we do not need to know how the universe came to be, or how we will come to end. we do not need a singular raison d'etre.
our lives do not need to follow some grand destiny. even if we are meaningless in the grand scheme of things, the things we do still matter. i do not need a trophy for being kind, or a legacy that will endure for millennia -- my kindness matters anyways, because it makes life a little better for the people around me, right now.
it is enough that we exist. it is enough to live in the moment. it is enough because we are enough.
I honestly think there are simply too many paths to take for life to have one single purpose. Life is too intricate and complex to find one single reason for in, and to attempt to do so would be a disservice to society.
you have always been enough. you are enough. you will always be enough.
interact if you have no idea what you’re doing in life but you’re doing it anyway. i need proof that i am not alone in this.
To quote a buddy of mine giving advice to our 15 year old family friend: "every adult you've ever met is winging it"
made this with tears still drying on my face
i was so scared for him
Hey, i'm a sophmore in highschool, I saw your intro post. I love Arcane, like it is my roman empire rn. I love music, so hopefully we have some common interests. I love 80s music, but also Chappell, Dominic Fike, The Marias, etc. I am learning guitar, Idk what else to say. Hope we can talk!
Hi :], I also really enjoy 80s music (more specifically 80s rock, definitely inherited that from my dad), but I haven't listened to Dominic Fike or the Marias cause I don't listen to music much, but I'd love some recommendations. Overall you seem really cool, I'd love to talk more!
In your pursuit to be closer to God, you forgot your very humanity.
"That's not god's fault," might be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. My child, that guy's entire claim to fame is being omnipotent and omniscient.
I know the Bible so well.
Don’t speak the deep magic to me witch. I was devout.
This is really how it feels sometimes. Christians quote scripture to me like it's the first time I've ever heard it. I have that verse in Isaiah highlighted. I prayed its words back to God fully believing the words did indeed hold deep magic. I found hope and solace and strength in the very line you're quoting. Don't treat me like I never held the magic in my hands; my palms are calloused from the heat of holding it for so long.
A wild concept: you can find faith and community outside of religion.
Actually, people are good by nature and you’re a fool if you think otherwise.
When you sneeze in public, strangers will say “bless you”, even though they don’t know you.
When you ask for directions on the street someone will show you the way, even though they have nothing to gain from it.
People squeeze their legs against the chair so you don’t have to hop over them on your way to your seat in the theatre, and make funny faces to make babies laugh, and purposefully step on leaves to hear them scrunch, and hold the door open for someone leaving behind them, and ask what floor you’re heading to when you enter the elevator, and send others photos of things that reminded them of them, and recommend each other songs, and ask if anyone else wants a coffee because they’re getting one, and make videos teaching how to sew a button, and wish on shooting stars, and share fun facts, and listen to others rant about things they don’t even understand, and let you cross the street first, and give a bit of their food to others, and laugh at jokes they don’t find funny to make you feel good, and listen to kids talk for hours about nonsense, and let you know your keys fell from your pocket, and they may be strangers, but with every little gesture they’re saying “I love you, I love you, I love you”.
God, I needed to read this today. Humanity is overwhelmingly full of hope and kindness and it’s very easy to forget that these days.
don’t compare your failures to other people’s successes. actually, don’t compare yourself in general. you’re going at your own pace.
“It’s just a girl harmonizing with her fan” no it’s the sound of the realization that your parents will only come to your wedding to object to their daughter marrying someone else’s daughter
someday, life will feel like more than just surviving the day
Will It Though
mmm yeah, i do believe it shall
