Dress
c. 1825-1828
"During the 1820s, the columnar gowns of the first two decades of the nineteenth century began to move towards the fuller skirts and wider sleeves associated with the Romantic era. While its fabric is very light with delicate woven feathers on a thin silk gauze, the trim of the dress has a much more masculine feel. Purple silk bars and gold faux buttons on the sleeves are reminiscent of military uniforms. Worn by Mary Pennington Rutter (1779–1850)."
