i.d.g.a.f: goes to school unbothered, doesn’t give a shit about makeup or looking nice, constantly has a water bottle filled, when they’re not taking notes they’re sleeping in class, goes home and actually studies/does homework, bottles up emotions, wants to travel
covfefe: lives their life on coffee and tea, always participates in class discussions, likes to observe, challenges themselves sometimes a little too much, needs more sleep, always trying to make plans to fill up their schedule, likes aesthetics
netflix & procrastinate: honestly wants to do well, gets distracted easily, when they’re focused they get shit done, pulls lots of all nighters, tells everyone ‘im fine’ when not fine, accidentally skips breakfast, loves their friends, gets anxiety over tests and quizzes
pastel: is always organized, loves to journal, actually listens to the teacher, people think they’re always super sweet, wants to visit japan, loves animals, does research for fun, looks over work 948208 times before turning it in, watches horror movies and then regrets it
complaint department: acts like they didn’t have enough time to do homework (they did), blames others for their problems, doesn’t study then cry when they get a bad grade, secretly is very insecure, is always out “sick”, acts better than others for no reason sometimes
chilly child: is very relaxed but knows how to work, is nice to their teachers, tries to avoid half-assing things, loves autumn, likes studying with other people, is very self motivating, tries not to focus on the letter grade but rather how hard they worked, and tbh they’re just tryna enjoy life,
5 tips that help you feel beautiful before bed (below)
- Make your room a relaxing space💭 Trust me when I say that if your room is cluttered, then your mind will be too. Clear your space as nicely as you can, and add any more blankets or pillows to your bed to make it cosy. Light your favourite scented candles! They create a relaxing mood for your room, as well as a beautiful smell. My favourite is the Vanilla and Caramel Triple Scented Candle by Glasshouse Fragrances. It’s the nicest feeling to walk into your room and be comforted by your favourite scent.
- Soak in the bath💭
Add some product to your bath (I recommend The Aromatherapy Co’s body wash) to soften your skin. Who doesn’t feel beautiful when their skin is supple and smooth? The heat will also naturally relax your muscles to help you sleep.
- Moisturise 💭 The right moisturizer or lotion before bed soothes your skin after the impact of the day. I use the Aroma Actives Essentials Repairing Body Lotion. This lotion makes your skin really soft, and also smells like you’ve just been wandering around a field of roses. Dreamy.
- Dress in nightwear that makes you feel lovely💭 Whether that may be your cutest matching pyjamas, silk set, nightgown or nothing at all! The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and beautiful. You deserve it.
- Read a novel or meditate 💭 Reading a couple of chapters of a novel is a wonderful way to wind down. Using technology before bed is what keeps the mind more awake, making it harder for you to register the need to sleep. Reading is a more natural, relaxing form of entertainment for your brain; its nice to let your mind feel beautiful too. Meditating is also another great option. You can find many meditation sessions on YouTube that will talk you through an exercise, or you can choose one without words and just your favourite sounds. Ocean sounds or forrest sounds are super natural and relaxing!
I hope you find these tips helpful for both your mind, body and spirit xx

common french phrases
hey guys!! i figured i would make a post about the little phrases i picked up while studying in france.
en fait- in fact; used in pretty much every sentence who knows why
ça marche- that works
c'est bon- it’s good
ouais- yeah
bahhhh oui- well yes;
bien sûr- of course
c'est comme ça- it’s like that; said after any inconvenience
je prends- i take/am taking; instead of saying “je voudrais” at cafés or restaurants
euh/et oui/alors/donc: basically the french version of “um”
quand même- really; might be used more than en fait if that possible
c'est pas grave- it’s not serious
c'est pas grave quand même- the french say this about everything
chai pas- i don’t know; the shortened version of “je ne sais pas”
bonne chance/bon courage- good luck
la vache/vachement- this is an interesting one cause it has a lot of different meanings. “la vache” by itself can just be an exclamation whereas in reference to someone can be an insult. “vachement” is a way to show excitement
that’s all i got! if there’s something wrong let me know. and if you wanna ask me about studying abroad or france n'hésitez pas!

This literally saved my ass a few minutes ago. Yes, you can recover those files that you accidentally closed and thought you couldnt get back.
Right after that happens, open Microsoft Word again and click File - Info - Manage Versions - Recover Unsaved Documents.

How to study for two exams that fall on the same date
Recently I had to go through 2 exams on the same day and I figured I would have to modify some of the things I tend to do when I’m studying for just one of them, and adapt it to a “2 exams in one day” format so that I would be least stressed, while managing to stay on top of the material for both classes.
So, to start with, I made a pretty accurate schedule one month ahead so that I knew every single thing I would be tested on. To do that, I took both of my study timetables from Civil Procedure and Contract Law, and checked how many classes I would have to do for both of them.
Now, lets say for instance I had both exams on the 1st of August, I would start as soon as I could (at least a month ahead) preparing and summarizing all the classes I needed to cover until the week of the exams, because, at least in my case in Law School, we are given classes until the last day prior to the exam, and what is reviewed in those classes will be tested.
Then, I would take a week, maybe a week and a half, to review and summarize ahead of time from my text books all the classes for both subjects. This helped me wonders because when I attended class during the following weeks, I already had all the material reviewed actively,
Now we are reaching the end of week 2 or beginig of the third week. This is a crucial one, because it can define whether all of your hard work will be worth it or not, depending on how you manage your studies. Recently, I found a wonderful way of active studying consisting of condensing in a little notebook, both your text book summaries, as well as your class notes and, in my case, the application of several laws and articles of the corresponding Codes together with any given jurisprudence.
So now, on week 3, I would have gathered a perfectly complete, yet synthesized version, of all the sources I had to learn from (i.e textbooks, articles, laws, jurisprudence, etc). The only thing I would be missing, is adding the relevant information from my class notes to my little notebook.
The week heading to the exams is left purely to revise and settle your knowledge. The thing with this is that you are not starting from scratch, you have spent a week/ week and a half summarizing actively the relevant information from your textbook and revision materials, and another week making a very precise and complete outline which helped you connect all of your readings and class notes together to make a coherent document, so that now, you are just left with the revising/studying part which, by this time, may be way easier to tackle.
Hope you guys have a very productive week!

do not procrastinate! time management skills are so key to doing well. start a bullet journal (my tag) (sareena’s masterpost), start a studyblr (sareena’s masterpost), and just learn how to schedule your time well (sareena’s masterpost)
get good sleep. i looove sleepyti.me because i always wake up so alert.
take notes. if you don’t think you need to, do it anyway.
and, most importantly, take care of yourself. you can’t do well (or anything) if you’re not drinking water, eating, and sleeping. put your needs first.

i was terrified of doing this in undergrad, and now that i’m asked to write them fairly often, i am fondly exasperated when my students don’t know how to ask for them. obviously there’s no single way, but here’s the way i usually do it.
THE FIRST EMAIL
should be short & should mainly be asking whether they’re willing to write you the letter
should provide only the basics - what the professor absolutely needs to know.
the position you’re applying for
when the letter would be due
optional: if you’re afraid they won’t remember you, a quick line identifying yourself & your relation to them
i like to provide an “out,” in case they don’t want to or are unable to write the letter
SAMPLE Dear Professor X, I’m applying for a job as an English tutor at the University Student Resource Center, and was wondering if you’d be willing to write me a letter of recommendation for the position. [optional identification: I really enjoyed taking English 300 with you in Winter 2016, and I’m hoping to develop and pass on those skills to other students through this job.] The letter would be due by September 1st - I know you’re very busy, so I completely understand if you’re not able to write one. All best, Your Name
THE SECOND EMAIL
they said yes!! amazing.
this one can provide a little more information – a link to the job posting, if there is one, or you can write a quick summary of the position, plus a sentence or two about why you’re excited/interested in the job.
also tell them where to send the letter!!
directly to the recruiter for the job
to you, to add to your application packet
upload to an online LoR service or to an application website
99% of the time folks are fine with receiving electronic copies, but if they need to mail a hard copy, let them know up front.
SAMPLE: Dear Professor X, Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Here’s the link to the job listing; the letter should be sent as a .pdf file to the email address at the bottom of the page, anytime before 9/1. Thanks again – I’m hoping that this job will provide me with some teaching experience and the opportunity to work on my own writing. Please let me know if you need any more information! Best, Your Name
WHEN TO SEND A FOLLOW-UP
these stress me out real bad but here’s the deal: most professors have a very shaky relationship to deadlines (especially when they have half a dozen more important ones than your piddly LoR).
the upshot: do not be afraid to nudge them.
often they need the nudge and are appreciative of it.
when that nudge happens is up to you and how much room you’ve given them before the deadline, and it’ll look different depending on your relationship with that professor.
GRAD SCHOOL LETTERS
i offered to send my professors essays that i had written for their classes, especially if i had taken those classes more than a year before asking them to write the letter, just so they could refamiliarize themselves with my work. you can also offer to send them your writing sample, if you haven’t already asked them to look it over for you.
honestly i’d recommend asking for these in person bc it’ll give you a chance to talk to them about their grad school experience and your own hopes & aspirations, which will help them write a more personal, fleshed-out letter.
one important note: if this letter is intended for use in grad school applications, do not stress out if it’s a little late. most programs do not care, and pretty much all of them accept late letters without a problem. your professor’s ability to meet deadlines does not reflect on you, and professors are intimately familiar with running late on LoRs. they really honestly don’t care. as long as it gets there before too long, you’ll be fine.
thank-yous are up to you! keep in mind that many departments have policies about gift-giving. i did give thank-yous to my three major letter writers, but they were handwritten cards & homemade cookies, nothing store-bought or expensive.
