I'm 23 on a Friday night! Ends up staying awake calculating the average percentage of taxes that come come out of my paycheck, plans out an entire year worth of bills and savings, and calculates the average amount that I now currently make at my new job versus my old job. It's good to be young and spontaneous.

So I have a customer that comes in every few months and he is deaf. I have been learning ASL for a while now. I wasn’t able to fully communicate with him on his order, but it made him really happy that I was able able to ask him simple questions like how was his day was and what size he would like. I was also able to tell him you’re welcome when he thanked me and to come back soon. Being able to put a huge smile on his face just because I was able to talk with him a little bit made my day and makes me want to learn more so that next time I’ll be able to fully communicate.

How to make customers walk away from you.

So at my job we have radios so that we can be lazy and communicate with each other without having to look at each others faces. Because of this some fairly funny stuff happens and when you react to it customers think you’re crazy because you randomly start laughing and they can’t see that you have an ear piece in. So this happened the other day.

We have a 30 something year old smart ass associate and a 60 something year old much wiser smart ass associate.

Older Associate: When did we get lunch boxes in?

“Younger” Associate: A few weeks ago as part of the summer reading program.

OA: Well what do they look like?

YA: Did you not have lunch boxes during your time at school?

OA: Back in my day we had to go knock a dinosaur upside the head to get our lunch.

Meanwhile I’m standing there doing nothing as some customers were walking towards me and then I started laughing my butt off at what appears to them to be nothing. Strangely enough they almost immediately turned around and walked away from me.
