Sir. Sir stop being so hot you are literally about to kill someone.

Cal's an interesting case of Jedi because obviously his ultimate goal is peace and finding somewhere safe for people to live but he also kills a loooootta people.

Sure, they've all been people trying to kill him but it does make you think - he tries to get Rayvis to join him after beating his ass in combat and then gives him the warrior death he requested.

But you can see in his eyes, in the moment of hesitation where he's moving slow enough to be able to think about it, how there's conflict there for a split second. He's had to kill since he was a child in order to survive, raised himself as a weapon because it was the only way he knew how and when there's enough of a moment, his programming pauses just long enough for his human empathy to surface. But in moments like that it's easier to listen to the practical side of his brain than to the emotional side, knowing all that Rayvis is capable of and will probably try to do later if he leaves him alive.

And the doubt creeps in just like in fallen order, where he wonders whether his efforts are even achieving anything, making any difference or if he's just going to lead the empire to Tanalorr.

Or if he's going to lose himself trying to find it.

Also BD-1 always checking up on him makes my heart melt I love him. And Greez immediately clocking something's up when Cal gets back to the Mantis, pulling Bode away so Merrin can talk to him,,, Merrin giving him one of those long hard stares that says "I know you just experiences something heavy and I'll be damned if I'm going to let you carry that alone."

I just think these games are so well written, the characters and the story are just so believable and immersive.

Also the sound design is fucking stellar but I'll have to write a whole separate post about that cuz I have somewhat of a special interest in sound design.

Ginger was literally running around the galaxy flashing his lightsaber for everyone to see, beating up Inquisitors on Coruscant, infiltrating top-secret Imperial bases, and working with rebels.

God it's been too long since I last watched rebels. I just finished season 2 on my first rewatch and DAMN. just DAMN.

(Spoilers below the cut)

The fucking score has no right to go that hard- The imperial march creeping into the fight between Vader and Ahsoka is incredible just so so good.

The lighting and the final shots rounding up the gang are all just *chefs kiss* but Ezra's arc is the one that gets me.

The way the red reflects into the blue of Ezra's eyes as he opens the holocron is perfect - sums up his fight against the dark side within himself over the past two seasons and how much guilt and anger he carries. Ezra's journey with his anger is one that I resonate so deeply with, moreso than I realised first time around, especially since he's just a kid. All his motivations are so real and believable while his flaws make him so incredibly human.

Watching his bond with Kanan grow over the first two season from reluctant stowaway to frustrated student to finding security in him... makes me feel some kinda way :')

He doesn't just follow blindly, he still challenges when he thinks he knows better or thinks there's a different way to do something, as does any kid of his age - he's naïve but still determined - driven in a way only kids seem to be. But when it comes down to it, in a split second where Ezra feels suddenly uncertain or scared, by the end of season 2, it's always Kanan he calls out for in an instant. Ezra trusts Kanan to let him push boundaries and explore limits without being worried that he's going to lose another parent - knowing Kanan will always be there to pull him up.

Idk man these two make me feel a lot of things and they hold a very dear place in my heart :')

It does fit him, because it’s been specifically tailored to fit him, because part of the reason BD-1 had been brought along on the supply run had been to provide the crew’s measurements to an auto-tailor, because Cere knows the importance of a ship’s crew looking the part, and had placed an order for a fairly standard spacer’s uniform, neat and trim and functional.

“It does fit, and you look very smart,” Cere tells him, tugging at the hem of her own jacket to straighten it, though it sits at a stylishly asymmetrical angle, following the line of her own blaster belt over her hips.

Cal makes a face, and tries to put his upper body through its usual range of motion, twisting from the hips and trying to lift his arms, arrested about the process by the pull of the jacket across his chest. “If it fit, I’m pretty sure I would be able to move my shoulders. I feel like I should be able to move my shoulders.” 

Cere sighs, and reaches up to make the small concession of unfastening his collar for him. “You don’t need to move your shoulders. You need to look like you’re a member of a competent starship crew.”

“I liked moving my shoulders.”

On the fourth day he takes Jaro Tapal’s lightsaber in both hands and stumbles towards the pyre. He’d only managed to move the body a pathetic few meters away from the pod, but he’d probably pulled a few hundred pounds of scrap over to cover it, and the exertion hasn’t been without cost. He feels weaker than he ever has, his legs giving out when he tries to stand for the first time after waking, and then trembling beneath him with exhaustion and illness from four days spent in a cracked open escape pod, in the cold and the rain. The burn on his face is well and truly infected now, hot to the touch and weeping clear, sticky fluid where the skin has split. It’s given him a fever, but he still shivers in the rising wind as he stands before the makeshift bier.

Jedi need pyres. He doesn’t know why, but he knows its important, that when a Jedi dies, their body needs to burn. It might be the only way they can return to the Force, and he is absolutely horrified by the idea that—after every other way he’s failed—he could fail in this, too. So even though his hands shake badly enough that it takes a few tries, in the end he manages to power on the broken lightsaber. It feels wrong in his hands, and it takes him a long time to do what needs to be done with it—but eventually he steps forward, and presses the blade slowly into the heap of wreckage. He closes his eyes and begs it to catch, not worthy to call upon the Force to help him, but praying to it all the same—not for aid, but for mercy. Not for him, but for his master.

The pyre lights, the lightsaber dies in his hands, and the fire slowly rises. Even if he hadn’t really known what he was doing, he’s managed to do it well. The capacity to feel anything good has left him, and doesn’t seem like it’ll ever be back—but he manages to feel something like fulfillment that he’s completed the task; the last thing he’ll ever do for his master. He kneels in the mud because he doesn’t have the strength to stand, and watches the hypnotic movement of the fire, trying not to think about what it consumes.
