CW: Dark!Alex AU, pet whump, bbu, non/dubcon face slapping, dubcon mentions.
Zee knelt on the livingroom floor between Alex’s legs. Alex was sitting on the sofa waiting for a phone call, and then he’d be joining friends downtown. He was already dressed for the cold weather in an oversized black coat with a beanie pulled over his ashy blond hair. He had his boots on already, and his car keys were on the table.
Zee felt nearly naked in comparison, a ragged Cinderella in his loose T-shirt and thin boxer shorts, his perpetually rug-burnt knees planted on the carpet between Alex’s heavy boots. His second Master held his face in his hands and caressd behind his ears, leaning down every now and then to give him a soft kiss.
Zee shivered into each one as if it was the first. The TV was loud and grating, a lot of car chase noises and gunshots, but he hardly noticed. His world was reduced to where his Master was touching him, the warm points of skin to skin contact and the gently condescending look in his eyes.
Alex tapped his cheek with his fingertip. “You know what I wanna do right now?”
Zee made a questioning sound, to be good company.
Cameron snorted in amusement from across the room. Zee must have snapped out of his sleepy trance, because Alex laughed. “Don’t be scared. Have I ever hit you? Come on.”
Never, Zee thought as he shifted his weight from one knee to the other. It was uncomfortably warm all of a sudden in the apartment, but Alex didn’t seem to feel it. He gave him a soft smack on the side of his mouth. His lazy grin widened, eyes narrowing in pleasure. “You’ll stay right here between my knees looking up at me like a lil puppy dog, won’t you? Even if I do this.”
He slapped him again. It was more intentional this time, in the dead center of his right cheek. Zee’s lips parted at the sting that raced up his face like a blush. Alex did it again. It made a louder noise this time, and knocked his chin half an inch the other way. Alex rubbed a thumb along his jaw with the other hand, holding him in place.
Zee beamed at the praise, though the next one made him flinch, and the way it knocked his face to the side made his head feel like it might start to ache soon. The heat stayed on his cheek between slaps now. Alex was leaning into it, getting better and more precise with each blow like his fingers were a whip— like he was skipping rocks.
Both Alex and Cameron had hit his bare ass before, and he understood that, that was different. This reminded him of something his handlers might have done, or one of the other boys back at the house. Alex had never hit him in the face. He had only held it, kissed it. And while he was not hitting hard, it stung Zee’s pride more than anything Alex had ever done to him in the bedroom. It felt like he was bad. Like Alex did not like him.
The next one made him whimper out loud and clutch at his face. Alex held his hand in midair, waiting for Zee to drop the protective hand from his cheek. He did, slowly, but glanced up at the other boy with more reproach than he’d meant to.
Alex lowered his poised hand back to his side. “Aw, Zee,” he said, eyebrows knitting in realization. He turned Zee’s chin back towards him with his forefinger until Zee lifted his eyes and looked at him.
“He did not like that,” he said to Cameron, who was talking on his phone to someone and listlessly watching the movie on the tv at the same time.
Cam tilted the phone away from his mouth. “You hurt his feelings. You spoil him and now he’s fuckin’ sensitive.”
Alex tuned back to Zee. “Taking that off the list,” he said gently. “No hitting the face. Not even playing. Okay? Come here. C’mon, come up here.”
Alex coaxed him up so Zee was straddling his lap, leaning forward to lay in his arms. He slipped a hand under Zee’s T-shirt and lay his hand on his bare skin. “M’sorry,” he said quietly. “M’sorry, little Boxie.”
Zee breathed in the scent of him, mixed with something like motor oil that was clinging faintly to the jacket. He let himself melt further into the embrace and the scratchy feel of the fabric, the metal of Alex’s belt buckle beneath it. The belt reminded him that Alex had barely been touching him, in comparison to what he was made for. He knew loads of owners would’ve stood up and taken off their belt right there, giving him something to really be sorry about.
Alex leaned his head back and kissed Zee’s red cheek. “I didn’t mean it like that, Zee. You know you’re my favorite. Don’t you? You know that you’re my favorite?”
Zee nodded. “I know.” He couldn’t say it back, because Cam was in the room. “I love you.”
Alex’s cellphone went off. His friend was ready to meet him. “I know, baby,” he said, tapping Zee’s thigh to tell him to hop up. Zee untangled his legs and rolled sideways onto the other couch cushion.
Alex gathered his keys from the table and bent to kiss him once more, this time softly, like he was doing before. “I’m gonna make it up to you when I get home later,” he said in Zee’s ear. “Promise.”
