You learnt from the sand. You learnt how to be trod on without ever losing your shape. You learnt how to let the sun beat down on you without ever losing your cool. You spent your days in the desert, looking for hope, without realising once you were an oasis.  You are not nobody. A grain of sand can form a dune. A single person can save the world. You learnt from the pack. You know how to look to others for more, you know how it feels to clench hands with somebody and call them home. But you broke away, didn’t you, brave boy, and didn’t realise you were making your own. You don’t have to be a lone wolf to be brave. You don’t have to be alone to be different. You are not one of them. You are you, learn your name, learn how it tastes not just in your own mouth, but in other people’s. You learnt from space. You learnt how to glow bright like all the best stars, and how to hold and entire universe within your chest. You can fly just be closing your eyes, and so many galaxies resemble your smile. You just need to remember you don’t have to burn to be beautiful, you don’t have to explode to make yourself mean something. You are not a risk, you are something like a sure thing. You can learn from each other. You can learn how being human isn’t just pain or unity or taking chances. Learn how it’s the quiet moments in between a battle, how it’s in the way you touch each other’s fingers. In each other’s eyes, you are exactly how you are. You’re love. You’re beauty. You’re light.
