his hands are gloved for protection as are hers , but these training sessions are absolutely necessary in order to get a feel for the fighting style of the other . getting well acquainted with it is a MUST , especially if they are going to keep working together . chris has to be able to trust that she’ll be able to handle herself , even if she has proven to be able to handle herself . one can’t be too careful . the gym is empty except for them as he stands with his hands up . alicia has to be ready for anything and now it’s time to train her on how to react when something is coming at her in the most direct way . ❝ if i’m coming at you . . . what’s your first move ?? ❞

maybe enjoying the view of him too much led her to THIS — - perhaps chris noticed those wandering eyes focusing more on his form than her own workout. working out with him around was something she silently enjoyed, but now that she worked out a little more than she had anticipated and he invited alicia for this, she's ALREADY a little out of breath. it's like today was picked on purpose, which she won't doubt. he's right, every once in a while making sure his people is up for anything, because needing alicia at the end of the day was anything but a good experience. neck cracks as she fixes her position, feet planted on the floor, eyes on his every movement. gloved hands move up a little, ready to protect her face from a possible blow, showing the next move. ❝ defense, perhaps move for a blow myself if you leave some opening. ❞ she's serious, one of the very few times alicia actually is. when she is doing her job and a few times around chris. alas, there's a faint tease to her tone because chris would definitely not make any mistakes here to leave an opening, but some enemies are not as trained as he is.

❝ and WHY isn't your contact on the way to a hospital? ❞ oh, she might have an idea or two of the reason why. alicia would probably have said no immediately. she isn't fond on doing stuff like that, but fearing mostly for the other woman putting herself in danger, she at least asks for some details.

late nights continue to trudge on with no sign of sleep . it is typical for the captain . rest always evades him and only one has shown a pattern of helping him . luckily , he finds her still awake too and even if he hasn’t really tried to rest , chris knows what will happen . closing his eyes will only end up with flashes of blood and death so staring at the ceiling would be his next option . so he finds his way here knowing that she won’t turn him away .

❝ mmmhmm , ❞ he confirms as he makes his way closer . of course , alicia is already scanning him for injuries as she always does but that isn’t why he is here . the funny thing is that HE is the boss so complaining about whatever work she might not finish won’t happen . ❝ i am . just can’t sleep . you know the deal with just getting back from a mission and all . ❞ he says as he lets her grab his hands as they step into each other’s spaces . ❝ distract me . ❞

it's only now that she catches a glimpse of the time. it's late, or late for her who always sleeps early and often gets teased for it by the others. but she had hung around the medical bay just for a little bit waiting for them to be back. she wasn't needed, not even the entire team was for this one, and alicia doesn't know if she gets relieved about staying behind or more worried that she isn't there to see how chris is doing, as if he needs eyes on him at all times. for her, he could be a superhero for all that's worth, she'll still worry.

she hadn't missed out on his tone, however. since the moment he first spoke. alicia nods once when he mentions he can't sleep. no news to her, but since they had gotten closer she noticed how AWFUL it can get every once in a while. her thumb caresses the back of his hand right before she lifts them a little, attempting to wrap his arms around her middle. ❝ as you wish. ❞ is all she whispers, placing a kiss to his clavicle, not even mad he's so much taller than her — - it gives the woman just enough opening to find his most sensitive spots. hands now find the back of his neck and she's on the tip of her toes, placing a quick kiss to his lips. ❝ take me to bed. ❞

usually , he’d say something about insubordination or being so BOLD to demand anything of the captain , but he wants his team to be as comfortable as possible . they all need to protect each other while out in the field during missions . his ego and pride are set aside to ensure his team has everything they need to be successful . after they get back , though , chris may have to make a point of speaking with her . anything more than a compliance on her part would have him needing to put her in her place just as he would ANY of them . his eyes nearly roll into the back of his head as he turns back to the supplies laid out . she’s getting too brave for her own good and everyone else sees it too . ❝ you have your orders , ❞ he says to them all . ❝ stay in pairs . keep your eyes and ears open . this won’t be easy by any means . ❞

she makes a point to APOLOGIZE to him once they're back from this. although she is known for getting on his nerves since day one, alicia's never done so in the middle of a mission like this. this isn't the time anymore to get chris to have his mind on anything but what they're about to face. this is dangerous, and there's a little voice in the back of her mind telling her to just... stop. the others are quick to form their pairs and move along, leaving her with chris that are usually a pair anyways, whenever she joins on these things. ❝ be careful. ❞ is what she whispers, a tiny smile on her face, one that isn't to tease but to try and ease his mind a little. the man is always on edge and worried. tilting her head to the side as a way to tell him to move along, she keeps her gun pointed down for him to pass in front of her.

chris isn’t really thinking about the weapons he is handing out the weapons . they are all trained in various fire arms and no one is on this team without extensive training . size has nothing to do with who gets what . the ones he assigns himself are deliberate and favored , yes , but nothing here leaves anything to be desired . all have their own brand of kick and fire power so when alicia finds issue with what chris gives her . . . well he is definitely confused . ❝ fine , ❞ he replies without argument and puts the gun down to replace it with an assault rifle . ❝ does this meet your approval ? can we head out now ?? ❞

alicia has to bite back the SMILE that threatens to appear on her face when chris complies with her request. although it was more like a demand, one she was very bold to voice out, to her captain, in front of his people. it's something she doesn't do, but other things have been bothering her too much to hold back her sass. besides, she likes to believe that deep down he likes it. ❝ thanks. ❞ she responds, noticing even a few of the others stare at chris, surprised for his quick compliance. taking the rifle from him, she nods once. ❝ yes, sir. ❞ her tone is genuine, never forgetting ranks even if their relationship is already far from JUST that. and the blonde is even bold enough to wink at him.
