Oh straight people đ
This is what I was talking about.
This is exactly why the whole "Queer characters can only be played by queer actors" argument, or the queerbaiting celebrities argument is not only unhelpful, it is actively harmful. You are not entitled to other peoples identity. You are forcing people to come out in order to protect their careers, when they may not have wanted to share that with the world. Real people can not queerbait. Real people can not be bad representations of themselves. Do not conflate how you treat fictional characters with how you are allowed to treat real people. We can not keep having the same conversation. Forcing people to come out or else face social consequences is Bad. Always. Everytime.
In this case, Kit is literally a teenager who has been facing overwhelming amounts of online abuse for not being open about his personal identity.
Im seeing it with other queer media too. With nicholas galitzin and taylor zakhar perez in the red white & royal blue movie, people demanding that they should have been recast with "actual queer actors" despite the fact that we do not know if they are or are not queer. We can never know until they tell us that they are, which they have not.
Im also seeing it with young royals. With the new season coming out later today, the speculation on omar and edvins sexuality and relationship is incredibly harmful and toxic. They are real people, please treat them like people instead of fictional characters you can write rambling, speculating paragraphs about.
I'll say it one more time.
You are not entitled to other people's identities.
wishing i was on a balcony in italy, wearing a long floral dress, eating fresh fruit, and staring at the sunset and landscape below me
Iâm going to scream. Pushback on the narrative that climate breakdown can be averted by individual decisions centres around the fact that NORMAL PEOPLE do not contribute to a significant amount of carbon emissions cos the average NORMAL PERSON emits 7 tons of CO2 a year. Not Taylor fucking Swift who has emitted over 8000 tons of emissions this year SO FAR. Her CO2 emissions from private jet use alone are equivalent to that of TWO THOUSAND normal people. We absolutely should be blaming individuals if those particular individuals are emitting two thousand peopleâs worth of emissions.
my university campus is so peaceful and quiet during the summer
As a person who lives in arizona (HOT desert climate) where every single summer is Like This (46c+ temps daily), here are some tips.
Europeans iâm very sorry youâre dealing with 30n weather at 60n latitudes. Please be safe. Iâm also sorry for every ignorant southern american whoâs telling you that this is how summer is every year - one peek at a map should have told them that britain should NOT have texas/southern USA temps.
1. Drink so much more water than you think you need.
2. Wear sunscreen, seriously. Especially if you live somewhere that doesnât normally get this hot. Even if thereâs cloud cover you can burn. Wear sunscreen on your scalp if your hair is thin enough that the sun hits it. Same for if your hair is pretty short or super blonde.
3. Stay inside as much as possible. Honestly. Even the people who live here in AZ stay inside when itâs like this.
4. Wear light, loose clothes. Try to stick with natural fibers instead of polyester and the like. If you can swing it, even wear loose undies.
5. If you start to feel Generally Shitty, go the heck inside. Thereâs a long list of symptoms Iâm sure youâve seen for heat exhaustion and heatstroke, but the general thing is that if you feel bad, go inside. Personally, i get cold and clammy, a headache, and vertigo, but everyoneâs different. Listen to your body. You really, really, really, really donât want heat exhaustion. I promise.
5.1. If youâre nauseated from the heat, sip water. Not eating or drinking because youâre sick to your stomach wonât help - the nausea is because youâre dehydrated.
6. Do you guys have air conditioning? I genuinely do not know. If you donât, put a bowl of ice in front of a fan. I had no ac last summer and this works really well.
7. Getting water on you helps cool you down even in humid climates like britain. I use a tiny spray bottle with water and aloe on my face and arms when itâs really hot.
8. Wear shoes! The pavement and even the grass will burn your feet.
9. This is not the time to get a tan.
10. Donât use your oven if you can help it. My oven doesnât turn on at all from may to september.
If you have any other questions, iâve lived here for 26 years - please dm me and iâll help if i can! Fellow americans - grow up, if texas and arizona had britain weather weâd all be crying and freezing.
Edit: adding to the og post from the notes -
If youâre hot so are your pets! Spray them with water when they start to get hot. Theyâre not used to it either. Also their paws will burn just like your feet so make sure they have somewhere cool to stand.
Apparently the ice fan doesnât work when itâs humid. Oops. If you live somewhere relatively dry, though, it works well.
Sodium!!!!! Totally forgot about sodium which is crazy because I have a heart condition that requires me to keep my salt intake up. Gatorade and such is good, a teensy bit of fruit juice in water is good, a teensy bit of salt in some juice is good too. You donât need a TON of it. @nymph1e mentioned that if a little salt on your tongue tastes sweet, or if youâre feeling thirsty even though youâre drinking water, thatâs because you need more sodium.
Itâs cooler underground if you can get there.
Do as little as possible. The heat will sap all your strength and energy super fast, especially if youâre not used to it.

two things: I hate change and having my routines interrupted. I hate things being the same itâs boring
The thing that distinguishes Tumblr shitposts from shitposts on other social media platforms isnât the content, itâs the register. The hairpin code-switching between very formal and very vulgar speech â the kind of speech that will use the words âincreasinglyâ and âfucktrumpetâ in the same sentence.
Itâs the Homestuck accent
Thank you so much! This is the absolute worst way you couldâve described this type of speech
