#i'm a media studies major and i did a project on the dsmp and mcyt fandom a couple years back!#it was just a video essay analysis thing rather than a big paper like this #but my professor liked it enough to ask if he could show it to his students as an example #and as of last semester he told me he was still showing it in classes #i'm graduating this semester and i'm finishing my capstone and i ended up doing it on dnd #but i very nearly did it on fandom studies #i love seeing the media studies and fan studies conversation in the notes because i'm just like pointing aggressively like that's my field!#if anyone is interested in like the basis of fan theory check out convergence culture and henry jenkins #media studies is great i got a $1500 grant to go to a gaming convention and buy ttrpg books and give away a dice set #i love the fact that the field basically just lets us write papers like “look at this really cool thing i'm into”#major #(that's my tag for posts that are relevant to my fields of study lol)#sorry for rambling so much in the tags about this i'm just very fond of fan studies #and it makes me very happy to see my field of study out in the wild #i mean yeah i know... fandom on tumblr.com? what a wild concept lol #but acknowledging it in the academic sense makes me very happy <3

I love that they couldn’t implement anything profitable and they had to get rid of tumblr live because 99% of people hated it but the second they gave us a useless button we lose our minds
