why you should participate in the cultural event of blaseball
do you like gambling with zero real-world consequences? collaborative storytelling? discord channels going so fast they crash? do you think sports would be more interesting if sometimes players switched teams midgame? do you want to personally dethrone god?
blaseball is a text-based RNG-based-mostly game, where twenty twenty four teams compete in the internet blaseball league. each season lasts one week, of ninety-nine hour-long games, which we watch happen in real-time scoreboard updates. on saturday are the playoffs, then on sunday is the election, where we all vote to, say, defy the rogue umpires and resurrect the first player to be incinerated. and then on monday the season starts again!
it is not up to us whether, on a game-by-game basis, our teams win or lose. as the fans, we have coins, and we bet those coins on games, and we use those coins to buy votes. with votes, we pick decrees and blessings, and remake the very foundation of the game according to our democratic whims.
at the end of the first season, we voted to open the forbidden book.
at the end of the second, we voted for peanuts.
at the end of the third, interviews. the fourth, alternate reality. the fifth, to dip the league in the blood bath.
now, the rogue umpires incinerate players. sometimes, peanuts rain from the sky, and swallowing one can be disastrous. players switch teams. players switch with their alternate selves. players steal opposing players’ blood. players encase other players in giant peanut shells. players wander into the elsewhere for a couple innings.
the moab desert, and the moab sunbeams, were swallowed by the hellmouth. axel trololol’s arm was replaced with a literal cannon. wyatt dovenpart tore a hole in spacetime and now los angeles is infinite, unlimited, and post-scarcity. we angered the shelled one, and it sicced boss battles on the league, and then a squid ate it.
so, to break character, blaseball is a RNG-based community-driven narrative game / storytelling event, where the devs give us player names and we create all other lore, and when we win enough coins we perform illegal necromancy.
it is so much fun, and the discord is incredibly welcoming, and you should pick team magic and vote for night vision goggles so we can give our werebear sunglasses summoning circle to help buff our sentient glove who is now the backbone of the game economy
