Her hair is everywhere, most of it in his face. Her pillows are terrible and should probably qualify as a form of torture.

And yet Garrus doesn’t move an inch.

He just lies there, keeping his breathing slow, listening to hers soften into a deep, even rhythm against his chest.

Sleep never comes easy to Shepard anymore, so he ignores the stiffness creeping up his neck and lets her steal these few peaceful hours. Before the Normandy, the mission, hell, the entire galaxy starts demanding every last piece of her all over again.

the baby pictures on the screens in my last drawing :) i did them very quickly because i knew a lot of the detail would be obscured!!! i still couldn't help making them "scenes" though. baby ro and hannah at the zoo, and solana scribbling colony markings all over garrus with a blue marker :)

when ro and garrus first sleep together, she takes him by the hand to the bed and they start undressing. she makes a joke about how she feels bad that garrus has to take off his nice suit so soon, it looks like it took forever to put it on. but she realizes he's stopped and is now watching her intently. he steps forward and places his hand over her heart, glove on bare skin.

on the sr1, they ran into each other in the showers exactly once - him, choosing off times so that there's nobody else around, and her, having missed her usual shower time and wanting to quickly get cleaned up. it was a little awkward. but he saw all her many tattoos then. and now, when she's standing bare before him again (and in a wholly new context - seeing her in a new light), he can see that she's lost every single one. fresh new skin marred only by cybernetic scars and the new tattoos she's gotten herself, sparse as they are in comparison.

he says, "memento mori". it was a tattoo he was curious about before, and had to look up the meaning on his own time, as he didn't want to be so rude as to openly question his commander's tattoos, or imply that he had been looking. it was written in small letters over her heart. now it's gone, but he remembers it. it stuns ro that he did. she had almost forgotten, herself. she tries to brush it off with a joke, about how she should get it redone, but he's looking at her with such meaning, staring straight into her eyes, and for just a moment, she allows herself to feel grief over her own death.

Confession: if turians existed i genuinely would turn my back on humanity and make the declining birth population even worse not even jk I would abandon all earthly materials for Garrus Vakarian immediately
