He's obnoxiously pretty, stupidly smart, and annoyingly aware of both. Everyone on campus assumes he's just another brainless frat boy coasting on his last name, but you know better — you've witnessed the way he dismantles an argument without even looking up from his notes. It drives you insane how sharp he is, how fast his mouth moves when he's on a damn roll, how smug that little smile is when the professor uses him as the model answer.
You're the only one who ever pushes back. The only one who will roll your eyes, call him out, pick apart his points in front of everyone. It should piss him off; instead, it lights him up. You figure out pretty quickly that your irritation is his favorite hobby. He lives for the way you say his last name like a curse, for the way you lean forward in your seat just to prove him wrong. You've accidentally turned the golden boy from Gilman into a bit of a masochist — years of polite praise replaced with the thrill of you snapping at him across the aisle.
He doesn't mind taking his punishment later. Not when you're in his bed, his hand heavy on the back of your neck, pressing your face into the pillow while he teaches what that filthy mouth of yours really earned. You're suddenly shy, all those clever comebacks dissolved into breathy little sounds, and he's cruel enough to laugh about it. "What was that you said in class, baby?" he murmurs against your skin, drawing the question out until you're shaking. You try to answer, to get even one insult past your lips, but all that comes out is a whimper.
He's got you right where he wants you — speechless, trembling, clinging to the sheets while he works you over slow and intentional. Every time you stutter, he just gets meaner in that low, amused way that makes your head spin. By the time he finally eases his mouth up to your ear, you're gone, boneless and ruined, and he's grinning like he's just won another mock trial. "Yeah?" he murmurs, voice rough. "You're gonna have to speak up, princess."
