Super exciting news!!! I got my first cane!!!
As things have deteriorated recently, I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that I am going to need mobility aids for the foreseeable future - possibly the rest of my life. It’s been hard but I’ve been working through it.
I just got the cane today and so far I am noticing it is pretty hard on my wrist. I plan on getting crutches, I just need to wait until I can afford it. Besides the wrist pain, it’s not bothering me at all which is great and after a few hours of grocery shopping, my leg pain did not increase significantly (as it usually would)
The cane I picked is one I’ve tested before and liked. It was a pretty boring silver and black so of courseee I tricked it out with some stickers :D It unfortunately doesn’t come with a strap (the ones that did were NOT my style), so I am going to figure out how to finagle one.
Overall, I think I may need to consider wrist braces - something that was suggested to me - to combat my pain and add some support. I’ll see how I do over a few weeks and see where I land. If anyone has some suggestions for how they combat wrist and hand pain from using a cane, I would love to hear it!
And of course, cane reveal!
(Peep the three different cups on my nightstand)
