Getting back home after yet another failed date should feel good, but it just leaves him feeling empty. He sees Buck sitting on the couch completely absorbed in whatever he's watching on the tv. After doing a small detour to check on Chris, who's fast asleep, Eddie grabs two beers from the fridge before going to join Buck on the couch, sitting down leaving no room between them.

Summary:

That's where Eddie is when he gets the call, in the firehouse, on B shift with Jones and Riley playing billiards in the loft. Athena's voice is firm but calm, almost enough to soothe him—almost, but not quite. His hands shake as he holds his warm phone to his face. He never expected to get a call like this. He doesn't understand how anyone could do something so fucked up.  First Bobby died, then Abuela, and now he could lose him? There would be no coming back from it if he died too. 

Or: There is an active shooter. Buck and Eddie lean on each other like they always do.
